A-1 Transmission

John took great care of my car. I found the shop on Unilocal and called them for a transmission flush, and John said I could come in on the same day and the service would only take an hour to complete. Of course, I was ecstatic because I expected having to leave my car at the shop and get a ride home. I showed up at the shop 15 minutes after speaking to John, he serviced my car right away, and it was all set within less than an hour. John did the transmission flush twice, advised me to come back in a week for a checkup, and charged me about $ 100 for everything. That’s a lot less than the other shop I had called. I even offered a $ 20 tip, and he refused. What a great guy! I will come back for my car needs.
I recommend calling the shop prior to your visit and ask how long it will take to service your car. You may get lucky like I did and not have to wait for that long.

A-​1 came through for me again! After waiting for weeks to attend to an ominous noise emanating from the rear of my 300K+, 2000 Subaru Forester, I went back to A1. John took me for a road test and diagnosed a bad wheel bearing (better than a bad differential) and they got the job done in a day — again, at what I believe to be a very, very reasonable price. The service was just as good as I remembered! I’ll be taking Sherwood Forester back for a replacement of the left rear wheel bearing, which is just beginning to make a noise detectable with a stethoscope!

My whole family uses A1 for everything from our Fords to the Infiniti’s– Always a great honest price, always ready on time. Never had any issues. Nothing flashy about this place, but who wants flashy when your car needs to be fixed? Highly recommended.

Chopped off a few stars since they started getting a bit greedy and started charging dealer like prices for service. $ 400 for an oil change and checkup, really?
They do good work but there are other places that do great work for less (i.e. Darien auto repair)
