The only reason this has 2 stars instead of one is because the manager is great and knows what customer service should be. Other than my interaction with him, I would say our experience here was downright awful. On a Sunday afternoon with no football, we expected it to be a little quiet… But upon getting there it was almost empty(which should have clues us in to walk to the corner and hit Local instead. After asking for a booth and having the busboy offer us 4 other tables in an attempt not to have to clean the booth we requested… We got a seat after about 5 – 10 min. Once searing the waitress came and took our beer orders; we also asked for water, which we never got. About 10 min later we put in our order: wings to start, then each ordered a sandwich. After about 20 – 25 min, all of the food came out at once… When we mentioned something to the waitress she said, «ohhhh ok» and walked away — who does that?!? Shortly thereafter we discovered my sister’s steak sandwich(medium rare), was not only cold and still bleeding, but also had the Worcestershire sauce all over it, which she has ape fiscally asked for it not to be there. When we tried to tell he waitress she again just said«ok» and walked away. Now seriously, who does that? At this point we asked for take home dishes for the just-ok rest of our meals so we could get out of there… And the waitress was nowhere to be found to pay our tab. After waiting 5 min for her to appear, I went up to the bar and asked the guy behind it if he was the manager… Lucky us, it was. After giving him the rundown, he comped our entire meal(which I tried to tell him wasn’t necessary), and came over to the table to personally apologize to all of us. The waitress did not appear again… But we did see 2 other tables of patrons have to go up to the bar for something she forgot. Food was decent, service was horrible… Music was good, manager is great. I likely wouldn’t choose to go here for any kind of meal again; however, the manager’s sincere apology and customer service may allow me to try it out just for a drink sometime…

This might be a good place to grab drinks but I would NOT recommend it as a restaurant. We came on a Sunday around 2PM. The restaurant was not crowded, probably about 7 tables occupied in the whole place. We waited 55 minutes for our food to come out. If it was busy in the restaurant, I would expect to wait but it was not. The waitress kept checking on our food and telling us it would be «right out», which it was not. When the food was finally delivered, I was disappointed. My hamburger was well done when I had asked for it medium and the fries were soggy. Also the diet coke I ordered was completely free of carbonation. Apparently they had an issue with their soda machine. Typically, I am easy to please when it comes to food, but after waiting so long, the sub par food was the final nail in the coffin. I won’t be returning here for food again.

I went to Johnny Utah’s for a bachelorette party recently and they hooked me up! Their manager Shea who set it up for me was terrific. She got us in free, we skipped the line, had free champagne AND drink specials! We were set up with a private table where my girlfriends and I could all hang out and drink our champagne. I even rode the bull, which was way more fun than I thought it would be! I’ll be going back to do that again, and am telling all my friends about this place!

Was here for your traditional happy hour combo of grabbing a drink and a bite while meeting up with a friend. The place wasn’t too busy, but the atmosphere was unlike anything else in the area. In a neighborhood surrounded by stuffy this place was very relaxed where I felt comfortable having a couple drinks and not having to worry about it. As for the food I had the«Doc Holiday» because who wouldnt immediately try a brisket sandwich? It was awesome. The brisket was tender and juicy and was the messy disaster I was looking for. And again going back to the atmosphere I knew that I could«dig in» to a sandwich and not have to worry about feeling judged. Definitely a great place to go for a fair priced meal, cheap drinks, and an easy going time.

Its rare that a place thats this big & on such a busy block you find that«hidden gem.» I came here last night with my girlfriend for a night out to relax & catch up. We got 2 seats at the bar right next to the mechanical bull. Staff was very friendly & the place was clean. The pulled pork & hush puppies were amazing as well. We met the manager Jason who was actually operating the bull & he bought us a round of shots just for the hell of it. Really nice guy & it shows in his staff. Will definitely be back!

Went here for a friend’s birthday, couldn’t help but notice the stench of dirty bathroom the second you walk in(the place is big). Several times security stood awkwardly close to our group despite the fact that there was sufficient space elsewhere for them to stand and do their job in a good way(one of them had their girlfriend following them around like a lost puppy dog the whole night). My boyfriend ordered a beer, the bartender poured it then instead to handing it to him she took four other orders before she realized she never handed him the beer. While she took his credit card she asked, «Leave it open?» But before he could confirm that he was what he wanted she turned away with his card and continued onto another customer. I finally got to speak to another bartender that helped me retrieve his card. $ 7 charge for a beer, okay great, we close it out. Except, when we get home we notice a $ 13 charge and a $ 10 charged to his account. So within the 5 – 7 minutes this place had his card, they placed two orders that were not his on his card. Seems careless, don’t you think?

Fun atmosphere! They offer karaōke on Thursday’s which is super fun since there’s really no place else in Sono that does that! And if you’re looking for a fun spot to grab a drink or line dance this is the place! Friday’s there is line dancing and Saturday’s they usually have killer Djs! The food is so underrated! My favorite is the spicy chicken sandwich! I would definitely give this place a look around happy hour Monday through Friday with 3 dollar ALL drafts!(like WTF? Awesome!!!)

The food, here, was terrific when it opened. The friend chicken is authentic. The BBQ very good. I enjoyed the«The Doc Holiday» — slow smoked beef brisket, Swiss cheese, bacon BBQ sauce on a brioche. Tender. Juicy. Succulent. Flavorful. Last week, stopped in for a late lunch. My partner had the chicken — it’s still outstanding. I had the«Doc Holiday.» The brisket was cold, dry and hard, as if it was just lying around the fridge. Even though it’s a hot sandwich, the bacon was cold(just popped on the sandwich from the fridge). My guess, it was quickly assembled with loose ends and the cheese was just melted really fast. Look, Johnny Utah’s — when your cook’s stop caring about the food they put out, so do we, and the public’s money goes elsewhere. That’s a big street with lots of kitchens.

I just want to thank to Management and staff at Johnny Utahs South Norwalk. On December 9th, we hosted our office Holiday party. Our staff wanted a fun, relaxed atmosphere, with the attraction of the Bull Rides ! The Staff out out amazing food, that was all BBQSTYLE. The meats and sides were amazing. Our crew went nuts for the BBQ Ribs. We also had so many laughs watching out employees and clients ride the bull for 4 hours. I want to than the Staff of Utahs, from all of us. Shay from the event department, took care of every aspect of our event. Jason is an amazing manager and prompted our guests to have a blast. He threw the PARTY… special thanks to Greg and Frank for running all over to insure all was great…

Stopped by to meet some friends for a drink. Wasn’t sure what to expect… WOW was I pleasantly surprised… I couldn’t have been more impressed. The place was a great looking place. We were planning on having a drink and then heading to dinner but when our server suggested some menu items they sounded great and we decided to give the food I try… Wow am I happy we did. Everything was great! On top of the food and service and atmosphere it was great to watch people ride the mechanical bull… Will definitely be back!!!

Doesn’t start getting packed on weekends until 11:30/12. I assume this is because of the cover charge. It’s free to ride the bull in the middle so you should definitely taken advantage of that(unless you’re a guy bc the conductors give them a hard time). Music and drinks are nothing special though(CREDITCARDMINIMUMOF $ 15)– good for a night where you feel like listening to Jason Aldean, sipping on whiskey, and standing in the corner like a weirdo as two girls ride the bull together in the middle.

Brought my gf here for an early dinner and thete were maybe 20 ppl inside. Sat at the bar and waited for 5 minutes while the entire staff was playing grab ass with each other, shooting water from the soda gun at each other. Ended up walking out. Terrible staff, terrible place.

Heard the place maybe closing soon. Lousy food and no place to dance. Just does not fit into the Connecticut scene.

A couple of coworkers and I dropped by here on a Friday night to take advantage of the Happy Hour prices($ 3 draft beers, yes please!). It wasn’t very bustling between 6 and 8, although there were a few people dancing — quite an eclectic crowd with people you would expect at a place called Johnny Utah’s and people you wouldn’t — not that we weren’t out of place there either, but again, who could argue with $ 3 drafts? The waitress was really nice as she handled our drinks and orders. I got the Wings($ 12) — ½ Hot and ½ BBQ — which came with blue cheese dressing. The wings were pretty alright as far as flavor, but they were dry and a little tough; they could’ve used a little more time cooking to loosen up the meat. As for the beer, I got a pint of Blue Moon and a pint of Guinness. The selection was pretty solid including some IPAs and a fun range. They were served cold and tasted great! Overall, I would say this is a nice place to duck into for some cheap drinks with people you know. Otherwise, unless country is your thing, it’s not ideal. Also, the giant bull in the middle looks sad by itself when there aren’t too many people on a Friday night. Happy eating!

Here’s my bullet point list on why this place just sucks. 1. The DJ is a SEXIST and FAT-SHAMING asshole. Last night he made numerous comments to one girl saying she should get off the bull and said«No more fat girls. Skinny girls only.» I KIDYOUNOT. Whenever a girl with a revealing outfit got on the bull, he would make more lewd and disgusting comments saying«now THAT’S an outfit to ride a bull on.» If two girls got on a bull, he said«Scissor it up ladies!» ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTING. If you have any sort of respect for females, whether you are a woman OR a man, I suggest you avoid this foul and sexist place like the plague. 2. The crowd in general is just a palace of douchery. Not much more to be said there. 3. The bartenders are not attentive. One girl was texting instead of doing her job, another was just flirting with one male customer. I mean really? All in all, I wanted to love this place, because the atmosphere seems great from the exterior. In the end, it’s just a trashy sexist pit for fratty men to ogle at women. And seriously DJ, if you are somehow reading this, you’re disgusting, and need to stick to your day job, and I fear for what that may be…

Ew. Just ew. The food is sub-par and the crowd is trashy. The bull in the middle of the bar is usually a sad spectacle of young girls in short skirts giving everyone a show. I’ve heard that girls that take their tops off on the bull get a free drink… BUTYET, PEOPLEGOHERE! It’s a gimmicky, dirty, smelly chain and you should just avoid it if you have respect for your taste buds, liver or dignity.

Went there on a Saturday early evening only one other table with guest and four people at bar. The place had a smell like dirty dish rag. Waited about 45min for the food. Had to send a glass of soda back about three times. Several times the waitress and everyone else was MIA. Had to get some soda myself. When the food finally arrived the fries were ice cold. I had the Chicken and ribs combo the Chicken was raw with blood at the bone be careful. All in all not a great meal very disappointed. The waitress was nice and extremely apologetic. Cross this one off my list. Sorry.

brought 2 families for a fun night out and Johnny’s delivered. just know what you are in for. terrible food at a fair price. OK that said the rest is really good. our waitress Teresa was great. the beer selection was large and excellent. there was a ton of big TVs to watch the games and we all loved riding the bull. 5 stars if you just go for drinks and entertainment. if all you want is a meal then 1 star. So plan accordingly and you will have a great time.

Are you a post grad frat boy who cant let go of your glory days? Or a middle aged man trying to work the young hip scene? Or do you just wanna see some nearly naked girls dancing on bars, riding bulls, and making out? Well then, this is the place for you! Was here on opening weekend and this place was packed to the point of barely being able to move. It was kind of fun for a one time kind of thing, but any time i came after the ambiance was definitely more trashy and filled with creeps lurking around. It’s not really for me, but i’m sure there’s a demand for this kind of stuff.
