Amazing customer service. Andrew helped me out. Their prices are also fair. And really can’t beat the service!!! I’m never going to Home Depot again!

First, I called for directions to obtain the store’s general whereabouts and received perfect directions from a friendly voice on the phone. Upon entering the store I was emphatically greeted! The lady who helped me get the three things I went in there for was top notch at customer service! If you want to go to a place where your patronage is truly appreciated, do yourself a favor, skip the«big-no-help» stores, and visit this treasure trove of goodies and excellent customer service!

The gentlemen that work at this store are just that, gentlemen. They are knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. My handy husband can no longer shop at the big hardware stores, the security system they use turn off his Deep Brain Stimulator and incapacitate him. But then again, WHYWOULDHEWANTTOSHOPANYWHEREELSE?

My family has been patronizing this store for about 5 years. Nice selection. Decent prices. SUPERIOR customer service. Everyone there is knowledgeable and friendly. They will order items for you if they don’t have it in stock(have not used this service but it was offered to me). My husband and I are not«handy» folks, yet we are able to do home improvement projects with their guidance. You may pay a little more than at big box stores for some items, but well worth it since you actually get an associate’s undivided attention during your visit. Go here first before going to the big box store!

I should have written this years ago. This is the hardware store that old time Norwalk folks will recognize as Harold & Chucks. It was and is the friendliest hardware store I’ve ever been in. I went there today to find a new hose end with just the broken piece in my pocket. A young man(I found out was in the Marines) saw me park on Rosecrans and even greeted me at the door! Where do you get that kind of service anywhere? I showed him my broken piece and he took me right to the spot. He was a little frustrated because they are doing some remodeling in there and things weren’t hanging quite where he had memorized but in less than 90 seconds I had the parts I needed. I’m sure at one of the big box stores it would have taken me 9 minutes just find the aisle the parts were in much less a friendly employee picking out the proper parts for me. That is just one example of customer service there. I’ve been there many times and it is always the same. I still call it Harold & Chucks but it is Tru-Value now. If you need any hardware type items Go here first you’ll be glad you did!

As other reviewers mentioned, this place has really friendly – and just as important, helpful – customer service. I am sure that they won’t be able to answer all of your questions, but they are more knowledgeable here than at the big box stores. Due to their smaller size, their selection is a little bit limited, but I am actually pretty surprised that they seem to have most everything you would need to get the job done. They don’t seem to carry construction materials(lumber, pipe, etc.), or at least not in great quantities. On the other hand, this is a great place to go to pick up something you forgot to buy on a trip to the big box stores. Also, they will carry some things that are not practical for the big box to carry. Mostly, I like this store for these main reasons: 1. Informed, friendly, and helpful staff. 2. Small size makes shopping quick. You don’t waste time walking around looking for stuff as much as you would elsewhere. 3. Local to my house, and closer than any big box place. 4. Generally reasonable prices. 5. Selection is decent considering smaller size. 6. Very willing to order something that they don’t have in stock for you. They are, after all, backed by a large nationwide chain.

First review I’ve done in a while now… But this place deserves that honor… My Xbox360 recently died on me, so I took it upon myself to fix it. After finding out what I needed to get I set off to Home Depot, where after a good 10 minutes I couldn’t find what I needed; so I went up to someone and asked specifically for M5 Washers in both steel and nylon. The dude pointed me in the right direction but didn’t bother showing me exactly where they were. After I found it, they were sold out. On my way home I stopped by True Value Hardware. I step in, I’m greeted happily, asked what I need, they lead me to where the metric and nylon washers are. I pay, and I am a happy camper. A week later I’m fixing someone else’s Xbox, and I go right back to True Value, but this time they’re sold out of the washers I need. To fix this, the guy in charge said he would order these washers and would have them in two days. Two days later, I have the washers. Awesome customer service…
