Hi everyone. My mom is a volunteer here once a week and she was telling me that the church helps with the funding to run the daily business. It really is a labor of love, but they are struggling to stay open. If you really enjoy what they are doing here please help them stay open by visiting and telling your friends how much you enjoy the food. I would hate to see them go out of business.

This place has been on my «to do» list for a while and I was feeling in a healthy mood recently and decided to give it a go. I ordered a wrap that came with hummus, cucumber, and faux chicken and my friend ordered a sandwich with avocado and all kinds of veggies. Everything was made fresh and tasted rather good. The people who work there are super nice and make sure you have a good experience. The setting almost felt serene as it wasn’t crowded and had church music playing in the background. Its not a place to have a wild and loud conversation as the atmosphere forces you to mind your p’s and q’s.

I’m new to the vegetarian/vegan scene and I’m a little intimidated of what’s out there. I work in Norwalk and decided to Unilocal a place near work today. Low and behold this is the first one that comes up. I am not a religious person and was a little hesitant to go, being that it’s run by a church, but I went anyways. Let me tell you, I am so freaking glad I did! She asked if it was my first time and explained how the place is vegan and what it is. She also asked it I wanted to try the soup, man I love helpful people like her. I ended up getting the CREAM of CAULIFLOWER soup which was so yummy and filling. I also got the ZUCCHINI w/RICE &GRAVY which I was only able to eat half since I was full from the soup. Again I am new to the scene so I was a little scared if the food being bland or weird. This place was neither, it was just great, tasteful, looked appealing, friendly staff, not hectic during the day. I will be back super soon and will try other items when given the chance.

Sadly, this place is no longer Our Daily Bread. I tried to go during the summer — they weren’t open. I tried to go today — it’s a new place with a new owner. Guess it wasn’t meant to be… [SIGH]

IMPORTANT: I visited this business on the day before they were taking a lengthy summer vacation. They will be back open on August 15th! I had a delicious homemade veggie burger here. I always love when I can get a good one made from scratch as opposed to opening a box of frozen ones like many restaurants do and I could easily do at home. Ideally I would have liked a small selection of sides to go with these fantastic vegan sandwiches. They had soup, salads and desserts but sides like fries/potato salad/mac salad etc even for a small additional charge would have made for a more complete meal. Nonetheless this place is a gem for the health conscious!

I want to first start by saying I’m overweight, love coors light, and I love chicken wings. So when my friend brought me here I figured what the crap… I’ve been here 3 days in a row for lunch. The soup is always great, you can kick it up with some pepper and hot sauce if you like. The cajun chik’n is amazing. I love bread and the bread here is amazing as well. And you don’t leave feeling like a bag of crap. The nice older lady makes up for the fact that its run by a church, but hey if the dude can change water in wine. He can get me to eat vegan.

I had the best experience here. The lady that runs the place is super friendly and helpful. Unlike most establishments, where people making your food are very impersonal, she will have a conversation with you, and show you what they have to offer in much detail. The food here is super delicious. This establishment is actually part of the seventh fatty advent church, and a lot of the customers here are members of the church and seem to know each other, but don’t be intimidated! I am nether a part of the church or a vegan, and they were great. This really was the most enjoyably lunch I’ve had in a long time. The owner admits that the food may not be exciting for someone who eats meat, but I’m not vegan or vegetarian and I loved it.

Everything is very healthy and I love that they make their own faux meats and cheez. Service is pleasant and very helpful. Location is easy to find and the place is really clean. Simple set-up with chairs at counter and a couple tables to dine in. There was only one woman working — preparing meals, ringing up your order, answer your questions, serving… talk about multi-tasking! Service will definitely be a bit slow if there’s a lot of people, but it’s not that bad. They also sell vegan food products, so you can browse that while you wait. I ended up also purchasing vegan queso cheez dip, YUM! I had a chiken wrap and enjoyed it, definitely will be back to try the other dishes that everyone else is recommending… like the lasagna and pizza. Really want to try the corn dogs, that sounds really amazing. Sweet place/people and I love supporting it. Come try for yourself and fall in love!

Wow! I drive all the way up to this place from Newport Beach because it’s that good. I follow a plant based diet, and this place has amazing dishes. I pray that something like this opens in my neighborhood, because I would love to eat from this menu at least 3 times a week. And the prices are great, too.

Our Daily Bread is a vegan place in Norwalk that will blow your mind! There are some vegan places that give vegan food a bad name because they buy their ingredients pre-packaged and nothing is fresh. Well, ODB makes everything homemade! From the cashew cheese sauce, to the veggie and oat patties down to their own veggie mayo. When you walk in here it’s like your favorite grandma is making your favorite home-cooked meals but vegan style. Elena is the sweetest lady ever and she obliged to cater my graduation event! The prices are very reasonable and the food is great. Today I tried the macaroni and cheese, broccoli cheese soup, oat burger, and quiche. Everything was to die for. My favorite thing about all of it was that homemade cheese sauce! She let me know they are struggling through the economy and were thinking of closing so PLEASE bring your business here to keep them open! The location is a bit hard to find and their hours are not the best to keep customers coming in, but its a perfect place for lunch if you’re near by!

Sick and tired of only having chain fast food joints, mexican food, and burger joints in the area for lunch options(although i do eat at those places). Finally found a place that serves more healthy options! I tried their cajun chicken sandwich, and it was tasty and spicy. Soy based meat did have a meat like texture, and flavored well can hardly tell it didn’t come from an animal. I eat meat, but sometimes you want a change of pace. Also tried the vegan lasagna, and that was surprisingly very flavorful. I wish i had found this place sooner. It’s a hole in the wall type joint, so Their location isn’t highly visible, but it’s next to a seventh day adventist church. Prices aren’t the cheapest, but considering they use natural fresh ingredients, it’s worth it to have unprocessed chemical free food with no preservatives. I will definitely be going back for my lunches

Not much to write about concerning this place that hasn’t already been written… For me, it’s my go to spot when I want to pick up a good quality vegan sandwich or lunch. Very pleasant and helpful service. Lot’s of homemade goodies ranging from breads, baked goods, and soups. It’s a no frills place that is ran by the Seventh Day Adventist church across the street. It’s far from the norm or typical, but the food is well prepared and very tasty. Highly recommeded for vegans, vegetarians, or anyone thinking about giving the aforementioned diets a try…

My thoughts when my friend and I were dining here. «Why haven’t I heard of this wonderful vegan place»…not only is this place vegetarian/vegan restaurant BUT its owned by a Seventh Day Adventist!!! Being that I am SDA I was sooo exticed to support this wonderful foundation that’s non profit. The lady(Elaina) sorry if I spelled your name wrong, but she was just as sweet as they come! She really made our dining experience very memorable!!! The food was absolutely delicious!!! She was also nice enough to give us a free tube of her freshly made blueberry ice cream! We definitely plan on going back soon!

This place. saved my life! I had to drive down to the area to run an errand and WOW. I did not expect to find any vegan spots in town, but to my ever so heavenly surprise. here this place was. The absolute cutest, most lovely woman makes the BEST food. My friend and I devoured the whole place. We couldn’t get enough. You must try: the lasagna, the pizza, the twice baked potatoes, the HOMEMADEICECREAM! They also have vegan corn dogs(yes.) and she also gives great hugs. I screamed I loved her as I ran out the door. My heart is still bursting. Everything is so yummy. She’s got everything you could want. Please drop in and tell her you love her… and eat all of her delicious food.

When I’m a little old lady, I want to volunteer at a church vegan café(minus the going to church part)! Today I tried the oat patty sandwich done supreme style — with all the fixings plus avocado, vegan cheese, and homemade vegan mayo plus a choice of their fresh baked bread or buns. I liked how everything they were offering, they made sure to mention«homemade» and«vegan». It was tasty and so big, it was falling apart. :) It’s a non-threatening atmosphere for us heathen types, tables, bar counter style seats, and open are where they sell packaged market products. I went home with one of each of the cookies to go. I look forward to going back and trying other entrees.

Really like this place! Tasty vegan and vegetarian foods, rotating menu. Need to go back to update my review. From their bio: Located on the ground floor of the church’s «City Mission Building» across the street from the main sanctuary and office complex, Our Daily Bread Bakery and Deli is a unique vegetarian outreach ministry. A lunch counter and dining area provide a cheerful atmosphere for business people in the area to have a tasty, healthy lunch in a peaceful environment. Many varieties of health foods and baked goods are on sale to the general public(see the menu below). Baking bread and giving it away as a ministry was the reason that the Bakery and Deli was first started more than twenty years ago.

This place is the cutest! It use to be my favorite spot to pick up lunch when I worked down the street. The employees are super nice and always helpful when ordering. I think they have THE best soups around. I am never satisfied with deli soups, but they have never failed. Although it doesn’t look like a bakery, they make some awesome healthy vegan food.

If you live in the area you have to get bread from this spot! The deli has good sandwiches and some great soup. Everything is vegetarian, which is wonderful!

I love this place. It kinda feels like a secret. The unassuming location, the odd hours(see Robin D’s review) which I have stored in my cell phone so I will know when it is an option. The staff is friendly and helpful. I always leave there with the satisfaction of knowing that I didn’t just load up on fat, preservatives and processed foods. This is not some fad Vegan restaurant(see Native Foods, etc) but rather a humble place with simple, agreeable food. Our Daily Bread isn’t just next to a church, it is run by a church and the food is prepared according to the Adventist vegetarian diet. [Pulled from the web: «The vegetarian diet recommended by Seventh-day Adventists includes the generous use of whole grain breads, cereals and pastas, a liberal use of fresh vegetables and fruits, a moderate use of legumes, nuts, seeds.”] My advice would be to keep that in mind and order foods that play on the strengths of those ingredients. The soup of the day is always a good choice. Check the display case and pick an entrée… you can pair it up with a medium soup and piece of fresh bread and make it a lunch special.($ 7.50 if my memory serves.) The pizza looks pretty rank but it is quite delicious. Veggie Pockets, Tamales and Tamale Pie are winners. The Lasagna is actually one I probably wouldn’t do again. I would never even think to order a burrito or something like that when I come here. If you try something and you don’t like it, try something else the next time… Once you stumble upon something you really like, you will keep coming back.
