Can’t give 0 stars or I would.
Dropped off broken laptop to get repaired. Received the estimate timely and gave them the go ahead.
3 weeks later I call to get a status and I’m told that they can’t get parts but they are still trying. A few days later get a call to come pick up the machine, they can’t get parts. So almost a month gone and they basically did nothing and still demanded the $ 30 diagnostic even though they did nothing.
Took the computer to Staples, received a timely estimate. Gave them the go ahead. Picking up the laptop tomorrow. Less than a week.
I won’t return to any PCW again and will warn others not to go as well.

The very day after I brought my computer in — and left my home phone number as contact — I got two calls on my home phone from people saying they «knew my computer was running slowly» and proceeded to tell me how to correct it. I was able to pry out of one of them the fact that they were from «techieforyou​.com» — they apparently got my phone number from PCW– who gave or sold it to them — which I think is totally sleazy.

At first, I was hesitant to go in. A strip mall location and I’ve never brought a computer to a so called «hack shop» for repair. My Acer ribbon cord was making the display flash on and off. They diagnosed the problem for a fair $ 29 and expedited it for me for an additional $ 30. I had a diagnosis within 4 hours. The problem was a broken ribbon cord, but they searched high and low for the part (EBay, etc) and couldn’t find it. I ended up sending it back to Acer for a warranty option of fixing it though. They did give it their all. They removed my hard drive for me and put in a new, blank one so that if Acer made a mistake, my data would be safe. I will most definitely use them again and I would recommend them to friends and family members. I am a very happy customer.

My USB thumb drive containing a ton of valuable data (yes, I know I should have backed it up) snapped off while it was in my laptop’s USB slot. I brought it into PCW in two pieces, and they were able to lift all my old files onto a new drive. The same day!

PCW recently moved from 606 West Avenue in Norwalk to this new location to the Shop Rite shopping mall in Norwalk.
My experience was a particularly hurtful since I’d been warned always to back up all my data before bringing in my cpu to one of these locations. However this place took sleazy practice to new levels. They downright lied when I pointed out that I was reluctant to leave my computer with them because I hadn’t backed up my data. After their diagnosis I felt it was better to bring my computer home and back up my data, then bring it back. To prevent my walking out the door with my computer I was told «no need for that; we’ll back up everything for you». I thanked them and offerred to pay extra to save me the bother. The rest of the story can be written by any ten year old. Except for the part where I had to pay another professional $ 350.00 to restore the software which needed lengthy downloads from the Internet and resetting. In case you missed the subtle point here, PCW had stolen my back up installation discs and claimed they couldn’t find them. This included my Microsoft package.
Off to Small Claims Court with these guys. It’s worth the $ 90.00 fee — they cost me way more than that.
CAVEAT EMPTOR — BUYER BEWARE!

Completely disorganized, nice guys, but not a professional operation. I took a hard drive in to see if they could recover data. Was told sure, no problem, twenty nine bucks an hour, two hours. We’ll call you in two days.
Three weeks goes by, no call. I call back, on hold for over 10 mins while they try to find my order. Only to tell me, the hard drive is broken, making a funny sound, and they can’t recover any data. The guy sounded perplexed when I told him, no that is what I told YOU when I brought it in here.
So, a month, for nothing. No charge for the «work» at least.

I don’t think the address Unilocal gives is the right one, as this place is further south on Connecticut Ave. In any event, this place has great service and pretty reasonable prices from what I could tell from calling around the area. At the very least you won’t be getting screwed on price. The guys behind the counter are very knowledgeable and, I think most importantly, are willing to explain to you, in detail, what’s wrong with your machine. They also do a ton of console repair, which I may have to take them up on soon…*sob*. In all, I would recommend this place to anyone who asks.
