The Home Depot

Home Depot, the Walmart of hardware. Something of most everything hardware related, but often not the brand or features you’re looking for. Rental section is great. Staff is all helpful, if one staffer doesn’t know, he finds another one.

One of the cleanest Home Depot I’ve been to. The floors are really clean and nothing is on the floors. The restrooms are really clean with hand sanitizer wipes and paper towels.
Dave at tiles dept was very friendly and helpful. I was looking at tiles and he just came up to ask if I need any assistance. Never happen before at other locations. My boyfriend asks about some glass tiles and he tried his best to look for the missing boxes going from aisle to aisle.
Even the lady at the cash registers was really friendly. Don’t know her name but she has short curly blonde hair.
Great experience.

They helped me so much with mulch and other products I’ve boughten at this store over the years. I continue to doing business with them, and less business with the W Roxbury store.

First as an electrician — don’t buy any lighting fixtures from any Home Depot location — they suck and I usually end up of returning them, so I won’t install them anymore. I’m not a plumber but I’ve bought enough of that stuff here to know it is also junk.
That said the garden center and the tool rental sections are awesome at this location, as is the hardware section.

This review is specific to the Home Depot Tool Rental department — many Home Depot’s do not actually rent tools (West Roxbury location does not for instance)
I needed to dig a hole. Not just any hole, but a trench that would be looked at and groped by multiple different inspectors from the city and the utility provider. It had to be a good trench — one that would stand up to an inspector saying «not 18 inches deep? No permit for you!» sort of thing …
Tried to trench by hand with a shovel. Failed. Got about 12 feet of trench done and the depth meandered between 6 – 14 inches. Bad language was used. Blisters were cared for.
Decided at that point to invoke the magic of Yuppie Rental Power
Found out online that the Norwood HD has a tool rental department and they had a couple of different trenching machines that would work for me.
Called ahead in the morning, the person at the rental department was super nice and helpful. Showed up a few hours later and the same person got me sorted.
They took the time to carefully show me how to operate the trencher. Since it was not going to fit into my little mazda3 hatchback that can’t tow a damn thing they also rented me a pickup truck and hooked me up with ramps that would let me get the machine on and off the pickup truck bed.
Price for the rental + truck including keeping the truck at home during the job was equivalent or cheaper than a 1-​day rental from a different company where I’d likely have to source a rental truck or pay $ 170+ for delivery.
Returning was a breeze although they hazed me a bit for not having a receipt for the gallon of gas I put in on the way back, heh.
Anyway — overall this was a great same-​day instant-​gratification project and I was particularly pleased with how hard they worked to make sure I understood how to operate the machine and properly load/​unload it from the truck bed.
Side note — it’s kinda crazy what any fool with a drivers license and credit card can rent these days!

Obviously anyones experience at a store like this will depend on the department and/​or employee that you work with so its tough to make general reviews so classify this under the lumber department on the afternoon of ⁵⁄₆ (for anyone reading at the Depot).
I came in on ⁵⁄₆ and went to the rear right of the store. The first individual I spoke with politely said he could not help me but waived over another employee (grey hair, glasses, grey goatee). I knew I was in for trouble when he opened the conversation with «YEAHHHHH???» Hard to type out the inflection but basically what do you want??? I explained that i needed to replace a step and before I could finish, he said «Well I can’t help you without measurements» and started to walk away at which point I showed him the piece of paper I was holding that had exact measurements. I then asked if they had pre cut planks. He said «How would WE make pre cut stairs, you need pine 1×8, they’re over there» and gestured towards a general area.
I assumed I would be all set but the area he directed me too had a few variations of pine. Yes I am not very handy, and forgive me for wanting to purchase the right piece that will be holding my weight as I go back and forth from my basement. At this point that last associate was long gone. After waiting for a while a new associate came by asked what I needed and directed me to THE PRE CUT STAIR SECTION.
If the first individual was too busy I would have appreciated a simple hand off to another associate or if I said garden hoses, yeah just point me in the direction. But stairs? Are you kidding me, thats something you blow off cause you’re having a bad day?
Home Depot, Lets Build it Together, oh no wait thats the slogan of the place in Dedham that Ill be going to from now on.

I came here on Saturday. We’ve been doing some DIY work in our bathroom and, in most areas, I didn’t even know where to begin. You’ll find at most Home Depot locations that, while the customer service is generally pretty great, they won’t really know the answer to your questions.
Saturday, I had a LOT of questions. I was pretty clueless. Thankfully, there was an employee that knew the deal. I told him my issue (rusty baseboard heaters, among others) and he told me exactly what products to use to treat and prevent before painting. I left feeling confident that I had the right products, probably a first at Home Depot. My project turned out great and I have him to thank for that!

Had to return something today. The woman at returns was very friendly and made for an easy return. Always have good service when here — always being asked if I need help.

We were planning to get solid hardwood for our home. We encountered Rob in the flooring section who is at all not knowledgeable about hardwood floors. Another agent Debbie was helpful. During Debbie’s day off, unfortunately we encountered Rob and store manager Henry Packer who did not provide us good customer support. Specifically, Henry did not honor a competitor coupon despite Debbie communicated to us that HD honors competitor’s’ coupons. If you are looking for customer service, please avoid Henry Packer. Thanks.

We went to customer service today nice big store and I love Home Depot

Do not purchase your appliances from Home Depot. I made that mistake and lost four hours of my life between the purchase and delivery. Actually, they were very good at taking my money for a new washer, dryer, and microwave. In addition I paid for hoses for the washing machine, a vent kit for the dryer, and installation of the microwave. When the delivery truck arrived, the team had no idea that they needed to install the microwave and worse, had no tools with them to perform the work. The crew leader couldn’t care less, didn’t offer to call the store to figure out what to do, and had a poor attitude about the whole situation. They clearly were in a rush to the next delivery. After disconnecting my current dryer from the existing vent, they were getting anxious about how much time I was taking on the phone with the store and decided that they couldn’t wait, wouldn’t deliver the washer/​dryer, and left with all of the appliances in tow. As it turns out, that was fine with me — Home Depot themselves (at the store) were also seemingly indifferent to the entire situation when I returned later in the afternoon to process the $ 2400 refund. The good news is that talking to a local appliance store ended up saving me about $ 225 as the price for the same items was $ 300 less minus a $ 75 delivery fee.

I haven’t had to use customer service here, but the staff is very nice and incredibly knowledgeable. Living right down the road in Walpole, I come here about once a week with a new project, and I always get great help and advice whether its in the kitchen/​countertop area, electrical or tools departments. More than once I’ve wondered why some of these employees don’t go off and start their own business because of how knowledgeable and experienced they are. Haven’t had a bad experience, and will be a regular customer.

Horrible customer service, i went to this location to get window blinds, I had trouble located the blinds so I asked for direction the man looked at me like he had no idea as to what I was talking about so I had to explain to him what a blind was so he directed me to windows and doors which was not correct so a man in the department directed me back to the same location I was in, I found the isle myself. So I find the blinds in which I need to be cut I search the entire department even several isles over not to find anyone, I waited several minutes. Finally I see some one and asked her nicely if there was some one who could help, she quickly replied she was to busy (I asked not just for her help but help in general she maybe could have called some one they all have the radios) so she rushed away from me after I asked. I then asked some one else who was sitting down at a desk, this one was the kicker, I approached him he didn’t even look at me or greet me, I asked very nicely if there was some one available to help me with blinds, he looked up at in in such a slow manner as if I was bothering him, he answered as if he was annoyed «we are way to busy at this point I don’t even no when we could help you». This was a Monday night and maybe about 20 customers in the whole store how busy can the store really be!!! Again I didn’t asked for just his help there are plenty of others working, as I was walking out I noticed some one else asking about getting his blinds cut as he had been waiting after he was told some one would be right by, I put in my two cents explaining what I was just told and I was asked by the other worker to tell the general manager (WHY DONT YOU TELL HIM!!!) there was one nice guy at the paint department who actually responded to my question with a smile. Horrible customer service experience!

Bought a door at the Watertown location that was missing all of the hardware. Found out it was already returned once for missing hardware. Called the Norwood store. They had a new door with the hardware. The gave me the hardware and will do a return on their door. Excellent customer service!

This is the 1^st Home Depot I’ve been in and not one person working the floor acknowledged us. We went straight to returns and the girl at the registered gathered items to put away and left us standing there. The older man at the far end of the counter did not look up until my husband went to ask for assistance, then he asked us to wait a minute. As we went through the store no one even made eye contact with us, and as my 5 year old and I put 3 bags of top soil in our cart (as other employees walked by us) I confirmed that we would NEVER shop here again. If it wasn’t for a last minute run back to the store I would of left and kept my money. The only positive was Ann at the register in the garden center, what a nice woman. Her customer service skills were A+. This was the 4^th Home Depot in a week we went to and every other one was a great experience. We will stick to what we know at either the Dorchester, West Roxbury or Quincy locations!

One of the better Home Depots. Solid selection. Always very busy. The one thing it is lacking is a Dunkin Donuts on property.

The first thing, Sameia from Bosnia makes this place worth going to, warm and so funny. This Home Depot is clean and organized unlike the one closer to us in West Roxbury which is a mess. So we drive out of the way to the Norwood Home Depot. Oh, and Anne is awesome God they must treat their employee’s great,
