Novato Shell

Try not to come here when it’s busy. The pump area easily becomes a traffic jam; meanwhile inside, one person on register and two stocking all their goodies. occasionally glancing up at the 7 people in line. And pray the people in line don’t get in the way of anything that needs to be stocked!

I haven’t had any price issues unlike the rest of the reviews. This is the cleanest, coolest mini-​market at a gas station I’ve ever seen. Some of the unique things you can find inside:
— frozen yogurt (made there with machines, many toppings)
— cool gifts (e.g. remote controlled quadcopter)
— a full salad bar (including soups)
— a full café (like a Starbucks with specialty drinks and pastries)
— souvenirs (hats, glasses, reusable water bottles, shirts, etc.)
— produce (fruit, cheese, milk, sandwiches, etc.)
There’s nothing to dislike about this place. The staff was super friendly. Forget all other convenience stores. This is the place to go!

I’m really glad to see they have finally fixed the computer system to give diesel customers the .15 off per gallon with a wash, as advertised. Having to go in for a partial refund every time was tiresome and the teenage workers had trouble doing the math, even with calculators.

Their new car wash is set on «rip pieces of your car» strength, as evidenced by the debris on the car wash floor, and the parts ripped off the roof of my newish car. They have a sign that says «any damage is not their fault,» though now that they were official notified of the problem through AAA on 07÷24÷15, and if they do nothing to fix it, they can now be considered negligent if it happens to you — (the sign does not protect them from their own negligence).

Yes it is indeed illegal to post one price and charge a higher price. Same thing happened to me at the Shell in Novato. I filed with Better Business Bureau and State Business License Board. It has been a few weeks now, but as a Business Manager myself I know the law. Too bad Shell has such a monopoly in Novato now.

Poorly trained attendants. I purchased an item and was overcharged. I pointed this out (the sign showed one price and the receipt showed a higher one.) The attendant told me «sorry, but that is the price.» This happens to be highly ILLEGAL. I will be filing a complaint with the Marin County Department of Weights & Measures.
