Postmore Kennels

Really happy with this place! Postmore was recommended by our vet. We boarded our 80lbs Chocolate Lab for 10 days and had him groomed. Great facility, super clean and organized with very knowledgable and friendly staff. We’ll definitely board him with Postmore again.

I’ve been using this kennel now for 8 years for 5 different dogs. All of them (3 small, 2 large) were always happy to be there.
There’s ample space for all the dogs to be out and running around, with small dogs separated from the larger ones.
If I lived closer my dog would be there for doggie day-​care on days where she’s left alone.
Prices are competitive and the grooming is top-​notch.

I can not say enough good things about this place. 1. They love animals period. It shows in all they do. 2. The place was great before and they just updated and it is Beautiful! 3. Clean beyond compare.
I have two older dogs (litter mates) and they are always together. This is one of the only places that allows them to stay together. They have heaters set up to keep them warm. Best place in Marin IMO

In so happy I found this place. I visited several kennels after moving here, and was very discouraged.
I just dropped by unannounced and got a full tour by Carlos. A lot of other kennels said I needed an appt.
They even suggested that I bring my boy in a few times before boarding him, so he could get used to the place. And to hoot at no charge.
When dropping him off for an hour or two, he didn’t want to leave. They let the dogs play freely, and aren’t caged all day. Robbie the owner was super friendly as well.
Love love love this place!!! Did I say love? Lol.

If you are looking for friendly, customer service oriented people to deal with AND a nice area for your dog to play and socialize, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I’ve been taking my mini poodle here over the years for any long trip we take. It’s a bit far from the city for me to use them for overnights, but anything over 3 – 4 days, the driving cost is more than paid for by the substantially lower price over SF based doggie day cares. Also, I like that my dog is outside vs in an indoor run, as it has to be healthier for him!
1. the small dogs have a lovely shaded yard and run of the office/​grooming area for 12 hours a day, then sleep in crates 12 hours at night. My pup is crate trained so this is not a hardship for him and after 12 hours of play I suspect he needs it!
2. I have him groomed the day I pick him up, especially after long stays.
3. Have had zero issues with these folks over the years. They’re kind and friendly and have been in the area a long time.
They’re really a fantastic resource and I highly recommend them.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for awhile but am just getting around to it.
For years I had a lab from Guide Dogs for the Blind. I was very spoiled in that we got vet care and free boarding (I KNOW!) while we had our dear breeder, Crissy.
When Crissy passed we adopted a lovely standard poodle named Harpo. He is a great dog, but, a runner and SMART. Has escaped our well fenced yard twice and comes home when it gets dark. He is also kind of timid.
Needless to say I was kind of a wreck when I had to board our little boy for 2 weeks when we went to Europe. I went to MANY websites and asked for lots of recommendations. I noticed that many places had ala carte menus that included things like «20 minute fetch time with your dog.» Well, this made me very anxious, as if those doggies whose parents shelled out «the big bucks» for extras would get all the attention. This did not work for me.
Then a friend told me about Postmore. I spoke to Carlos on the phone — very reassuring, suggested I bring Harpo in for a half a day to see how he did. I noticed when I dropped him off that the atmosphere was relaxed, the place was clean and tidy, and all of the dogs seemed to get along. There was a big play yard for the big dogs. Harpo reluctantly went in but they kept an eye on him. I was able to bring him back for 3 more play dates to see how he did. Carlos suggested I bring an article of my clothing at drop off, which I did along with his bed and Bully sticks for him to have in his run.
Carlos is a dream, really knows dogs and is so reassuring. He really walked me through it.
Also, the owner, Robbie, (who was maligned in a previous post) is a no nonsense gal who runs a tight ship but who clearly knows dogs and cares for them.
She sent me photos of Harpo while we were gone. He was very happy to see me but in great shape when I picked him up. We recently went back for grooming and he was very happy to be there.
This place is much more my speed than the high pressure expensive world of dog boarding. The dogs play and eat. They get lots of time outside, and our dog was LESS neurotic when we picked him up than when we dropped him off. He gets along great with other dogs now!! There ARE certain things other dogs can teach better than we can.
After reading the Unilocal reviews I did 2 smart things: I had him bathed the day I picked him up AND I bought a new bed (Costco) and took the one that had been at Postmore straight to the trash. It stunk.
I have also taken Harpo for grooming and Henry does a wonderful job. Overall, I am so glad we found Postmore.

I called at 8am and was greeted with a cheerful person. I was so grateful as I had been struggling with my 6lb long hair chih/​pom after we were both skunked, mostly in the face. After 2 days of using all recommendations to help her, I found Postmore and to my surprise, they are in my neighborhood. She told me to come right over and the groomer was great. I picked her up at 2p, much earlier than I thought it would take, and the price was very reasonable. The location is clean, the dogs that were there were happy and I am going back for nail, etc when necessary. I hope we can support our local Novato businesses and share the positive! my Mila is on the road for recovery!!! I am very happy with this business.

I have been taking my dog for regular grooming and periodic boarding here for almost four years. When I first started taking her for grooming, they did an amazing job and I didn’t mind paying the higher price. The last time I took her in, the receptionist said they did not have me on the books although I had made an appointment. They did take her anyway, but did not do a very good job. I figured it was because they squeezed her in. I decided to try another place for a while, but recently wanted to try them out again. They did a terrible grooming job and I actually laughed when I saw the way she looked. My husband called to ask if they had switched groomers, and the person who answered the phone was difficult to communicate with. I tried to fix my dog’s hair the best I could, but for $ 65 I should not have to cut her hair myself after picking her up.

Mixed review, more bad than good, because of the «receptionist.» I brought my middle-​sized, middle-​aged dog for her first visit to Postmore groomers yesterday. Here is the good part: the groomer and grooming job were terrific, as I asked for & better, and prompt.
However, the person at the reception desk, apparently, and amazingly, the owner, was surprisingly and off-​puttingly rude, condescending, and dismissive of my questions and concerns. During the drop-​off, the «receptionist» complained grumpily about «too many» customers! I asked about the 4-​hour turn-​around which I had been told about by phone when arranging the appointment 2 weeks before, because I needed to leave for a 4-​hour obligation immediately after the advertised pick-​up time and was told in an exasperated tone that the «groomer wasn’t there yet,» so I shouldn’t count on the timing working out. I called back 15 minutes after leaving my dog, in a clean, fenced, kennel, waiting area to ask if I might confirm an on-​time or early finish by increasing the price I would pay and was not just turned down, but treated as if I had insulted the establishment. When I called near the hoped for pick-​up time I was ridiculed, by the receptionist, with a demeaning epithet for my earlier concerns about timing and my mild concern about my dog’s being left for the whole day if she weren’t ready at the advertised pick up time.
When I came to pick up my dog, the «receptionist» was grumpy, rude, curt, and very obviously anxious to be rid of me and my business. I finally asked if she were the owner and was truly amazed and dismayed to learn she was. But, obviously no sensible business owner would tolerate an employee treating a new customer so rudely. I will gladly do both myself and Postmore Kennels the favor of never returning for their services again or increasing what were seen as «too many» customers.
Too bad for the excellent groomer. I hope another venue opens soon or hires what are probably a lot of unhappy, mis-​treated grooming professionals.

I brought my puppy to Postmore and he was in heaven. He was able to play with dogs his size, and was well cared for during my time away from him. The staff at Postmore was very accommodating and friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained. I look forward to leaving my doggie there for daycare, boarding, and grooming. I highly recommend Postmore for the dog you love. He or she will be in great hands.

We go to Posrmote for grooming and nail clips and the people at Postmore are the best. They make you feel welcome and they care about our dogs! Their service is very good and prices reasonable. Thank you Postmore!

Five stars for this 5 star pet destination! My dog loves to see all his friends and is tryin to climb out the window to get there as soon as we turn onto McClay Rd! Great people and best prices in town! Soo happy to have them close by!

Every single time that my wife and I have gone on trips we always leave our Pomeranian at Postmore Kennels and we will only leave him at Postmore Kennels! The staff is super friendly and they keep the big dogs separate from the small dogs and they really make sure your doggie is safe! We always get him groomed here except for one time last year which was a horrible mistake (you can read my other review on that place) but they leave our Tito looking like a million bucks and he is always happy. This last time we got back from our vacation on Wednesday and they close at 5pm and we were stuck in traffic coming from Oakland Airport, my wife called Carlos and told him that we might be a few minutes late. Carlos said no problem and waited for us. We got there about 10 minutes after 5pm and we were so happy to see our dog and so appreciative of Carlos for going the extra mile and waiting for us a few extra minutes!
They do an excellent job grooming our Pomeranian and we will continue only taking him to Postmore Kennels!

I’d not go back here.

Another good visit at Postmore while we visited friends for the week in Novato. Our BCs were clean, nicely groomed (thank you to groomer Kathy.) We even received a coupon on line.
PS The owner… well, I’ve met her on several occasions and she has been available by phone to answer questions (referring to review by AS.)

HORRIBLE, DISHONEST!
I boarded my small dog here and she apparently escaped! When I arrived home there was a message for me from a neighbor of this dump letting me know they had my dog. I called on my way to pick her up (they had by then retrieved her) and the owner was «not available». She wouldn’t meet with me and no one told me of the incident when I arrived there, I reported that I knew what had happened and no one would speak with me about it. She never answered my calls, and the flunky there when I arrived would not release my dog without full payment.
STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR PET!

I have to admit I am writing this comment out of outrage over the comment of «Marin-​er». What a venomous and creepy individual SHE is. Being upset because there was an elderly man on the premises when she visited? This is just plane ugly on her part. I hope people are not lured into believing what this pretentious and nasty person has to say about Postmore or any other place.
Further I have visited Postmore and was very impressed. My sister in law went away to Europe and has a show quality poodle she left here. She is one of the most picky and demanding persons when it comes to her pets, spending whatever amount of money on them to keep them healthy and happy. Postmore was specifically recommended to her by her groomer after my sister in law visited other kennels that she did not like and which were more than double the price per night of this one. I went with her to drop her precious poodle off and also made a surprise visit while she was away for 30 days to see if the poodle was doing well. The poodle was sooo happy and they were taking very good care of him.
I thought all of the people here were extremely friendly and professional. They were all normal persons who actually work and do something with their lives, as opposed to write comments on Unilocal attempting to glorify themselves and have people think they are «hip» AT THE EXPENSE OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.
I have two Scottish terriers and I would be very glad to leave them here. It is like a little farm out in the country. Dogs and animals are not into «hip» things they just want to be safe, well fed and loved and Postmore provides this.
UPDATE: After writing this I thought my Scotties needed some grooming. I telephoned Postmore and asked if they could be done today and they said YES! I took them there and it was very busy. Lots of cute dogs, lots of customers and lots of persons working there (including some of those described by Miss «Marin-​er»). I can only say that this woman must have some serious psychological problems that cause her to think perfectly respectable and professional people are creeps. At no point whatsoever was anyone there acting strange nor could any reasonable person believe anyone there was creepy in any manner!!!
Oh yes, and on the subject of my Scotties they looked absolutely amazing when I went back to pick them up. The woman who groomed them could not have been nicer and more understanding. She came out to ask what type of cut I wanted and if there were any concerns. Now they look like little show dogs. I would like the owners of Postmore to know that as a result of the insults Marin-​er made towards one of their employees he or she has now gained a very loyal customer. The person described by «Marin-​er» is a great asset to your business.

I love this place. My dog is very skiddish and has a few problems. He is a recue dog from the pound. At Postmore he plays with the other dogs and has a good time. In the past I would request not to let my dog play with other dogs, but here my dog has a good time.
We always have her groomed before we pick her up. For an extra fee they put on the Frontline for ticks and fleas. They do an excellent job at grooming.

The pup now loves this place. It really is perfect. He goes there often enough that they know his name, his likes and even can tell me if he seemed to have an off day.
With the rain he has been going there more often than not because I don’t want to walk him in this weather. He goes to postmore, plays with his puppy friends, gets wet and they even sometimes dry him off before I pick him up.
And he made a special girlfurfriend there and one day when I picked up chase the owners had pictures of chase and the girlfurfriend laying together earlier in the day. How thougtful is that?
We love this place. Take your dog there! Its easy, flexible, cheap and they care about your dog.
