The burrito I had was not as good as I expected, but what made me not want to return is the host/​cashier was very unfriendly, kinda rude, when my sickly aunt asked questions about certain entrees, inside of politely answering, she coldly told her to read the menu, besides that they charge for every single topping even cheese, ridiculous!

The salsa was ok… the beans they give you with the chips were the best thing. I got the Acapulco shrimp salad. I think it was $ 11…definitely not good at all. It had 4 small grilled shrimp over a bed of iceberg lettuce. There was soggy rice on the bottom and some sautéed veggy’s on it as well. It lacked any flavor at all and should have had sour cream, guac, fresh cilantro, beans or anything that would have added flavor. Way over priced. Won’t be going back. My sisters bean and cheese burrito came out cold… the cheese wouldn’t even melt. Boo.

We had eaten there years ago based on a friend recommendation who we should have know has terrible taste in eating out. So it was horrible flavorless and service rude. We did not go back until just recently because of a change in ownership and wow what a difference. Really interesting menu and lots of flavors.
We tried breakfast which was good but it did have cold spots in the dish. Need consistency there. Went back for dinner and this place was doing a great take out service as there are few tables on which. To sit and eat.
My spouse had the Mexican Cuban sandwich which was huge and I had the chili verde. All good. We will continue to go back. Oh yes staff are very friendly

Love this place! So different from other places. Their flavors are grilled, marinated and never overcooked. Their steak and chicken is so good. They actually used to be so overpriced for not that much food.(taste has always been amazing!) but now the balance of price and portion with quality are perfect :)

I placed an order for food at the front counter and never received the food After an hour and a half wait. They ended up refunding my money after totally ignoring my order. I will never step foot in that establishment again. All my previous experiences there were mediocre at best I strongly do not recommend this place.

Good solid place. Didn’t blew my mind but very homey and comforting. Not overpriced, not the cheapest. Good fresh and clean salsa bar, good size portions, good tasty food. I had the chile relleno tonight and I will probably be back for more.

Just had breakfast at Tommy’s Salsa in Novato. They got purchased a couple of months ago and the new owners decided to open for breakfast on the weekends.
I had the Huevos Rancheros. It was the best breakfast I have had in recent memory. With the $ 5 off coupon, the total came to $ 4 and change.
I am a long time resident of Novato (35 years) and Tommy’s was my ‘go-​to’ spot for good Mexican food. Always fresh ingredients and always authentic Mexican food.
I was reticent when Tommy’s was sold, but decided to give the new owners a try. Not only did they keep the philosophy of fresh ingredients, but added new authentic Mexican items. With breakfast served on weekends at Tommy’s, Novato just got a little nicer.

Went in about 2:30pm there was a couple eating. Eating area is a good size, clean and well decorated with diia de la muerta pictures. I ordered two carne asado «street tacos». Sat down and I was given complementary chips and a hot bean dip salsa. The tacos were made quickly and it tasted like my favourite taco truck. Simple but tasty. And the chips and bean dip salsa were freshly made and savoury too. I recommend this place for a quick bite and will be coming back.

This rating/​review is after my first visit here having a veggie burrito. First, the burrito was way overpriced ($ 8 something). And second, it was nothing great or even really good. Basic, bland burrito. I give two stars to places I mostly likely would never go back to after being dissatisfied. Unfortunately this place falls in that category.

I don’t know what happened to this restaurant. When I first starting coming here, I was very impressed. I was such a regular that the main female cashier would know my order and have it ready quickly, I especially appreciated this place when I had a kitchen remodel and needed a place local to eat at for a few times.
But unfortunately, once a young man started being the cashier I saw the quality and friendliness disappear. He appeared more interested in the young things coming in and would spend lots of time flirting/​chatting with them while letting the customer line grow. Every order I gave to him, too, was mixed up. I have a severe fish allergy and one time I luckily smelled the to-​go burrito before letting my husband taste it to confirm my suspicions. You see, instead of being a carnitas burrito it was a fish burrito! That was the last time I went here. Not putting my life on the line. It saddens me, though, because I used to love coming here.

I have been eating at this restaurant for what feels like 15+ years. The food here is excellent! It’s consistently fresh food and great, friendly service is what keeps me coming back, my favorite is the grilled Chicken Bronto Burrito it’s huge! If you have a large appetite like me this size burrito will fill your belly! You can phone in your order and it’s usually sitting at the counter when you arrive. I just like to say if your looking for a great burrito in the Novato area look no further than this place because you’ll be satisfied in every way! Keep up the good work over there!

Revising my review, I’m becoming more of a fan of Tommy’s.
They’ve got excellent al pastor, and I’m a huge fan of their BRC burrito. Service is always good, and I’m always pleased with consistent great food. I love their green salsa as well, it goes great with everything!
