Café Bistro

I just left a full restaurant to be told I was six minutes too late to order to go. I come here often, it’s my favorite place to eat in the mall. How disappointing they couldn’t offer me anything and were so rude about it as well. I’ll never be back.

I used to eat here all the time, but the last 3 meals I’ve had from here were just not that great. Today I ordered the Lime Shrimp Salad, and the shrimps have gotten smaller and they were very dry as was the entire salad itself. For $ 15.95 I expect a great salad. When one person complains, there are many more that feel the same. Service is great as always. Also, nobody wants the bread if it’s cold.

Still great! The Caesar salad, lobster bisque, and fries w/​olive aeoli dip were soooo good. The waiter was nice. Love coming here after a day of shopping.

Got the prime rib french dip and it was fantastic. Bread amazing, dip was great. Tasty fries. Service was top notch. Did not expect much from a Nordstrom bistro, but I was pleasantly surprised. Will be back!

This is a good place to eat not just because you are at the mall but it’s a destination on its own. I love the salads, the fries with dip and they have a few wine and beer selections. The staff is always pleasant as well.

Best place to eat at the mall! Ask for HOT bread and butter and its delicious. All of the salads are good, as well as most of the entrees I’ve tried. Pizzas are good if they don’t burn them. Crab bisque soup is awesome, and I highly recommend the Shortbread with berries for dessert. The service has always been fantastic!

I like this place! I like that you don’t have to wait after you’ve sat down to place your order and just do it as soon as you walk in. My waiter was friendly and attentive.
My sandwich was pretty standard but definitely quality, and the fries were amaaazing. I love the olive aioli sauce. The décor was attractive. It would be nice to stop in for a glass of wine after an arduous (hah) day of shopping.

Love this place. Never crowded, fast service and the best Crab Bisque! It is a Gem in Nordstroms. The salads are to die for. I’ve had every single one. If you are in a hurry for great food, eat here.

Really enjoy the restaurant and ambiance. The food always taste good and you don’t have to wait too long before it arrives.

Didn’t like their process of ordering your meal at counter then getting seated with a waitress who had no idea who ordered what. Literally the server asked how things were 4 times durning a lunch. Food was good but a little pricy.

Gray lunch spot when shopping at the mall. Had the turkey sandwich and the pesto tomato jam ricotta appetizer. It was all very delicious! Great service too.

Me and the hubby came here for a nice dinner after a day of shopping at the mall. It’s located in Nordstrom and very easy to spot. So, when we walked in we were greeted and given a menu to order up in the front with the cashiers. I ordered the club sandwich and husband ordered the prime French dip sandwich and two lemonades. So, after paying we were told to be seated wherever we like and the food would be brought out to us.
Food came out in a good time, a little longer than normal but we did not mind because it was being made fresh.
Once it came out though the food was YUM, so fresh and delicious. Service was also good.
Overall, I would definitely come here again.

I never thought I would enjoy a departments store café as much as do! All the food is prepared fresh to order. You can never beat that! Beautiful fresh food that is seasoned so well and hot food is served hot and cold is cold. This café does a great job I always enjoy it and have never had a bad experience. And they leave you with the most delicious chocolate mint sticks with your check that keeps you going for more!

What a wonderful experience! From perfect service to great food and awesome price! Nice and unpretentious just wonderful! You’ll never guess that a ‘café’ inside Nordstrom had such quality!
By the way, Nordstrom café is not the same in all of the different malls and the one food service company that owns the café at Sommerset has long ways to go compare to this one! Who would guess that the one in Novi is 10 times better than the one in Troy :) ?
French fries are made to perfection, creamy inisde, crispy on the outside, nice and golden and hot!
Bisque was wonderful, tray of cheeses was a a good small bite option. My kids order the chicken fingers, and it is moist and crispy.
I like the salads and have tried the margherita pizza.
Anything you order look great, is fresh and well made.
Finally we tried the strawberry shortcake, absolutely one of the best shortcakes!
Always going back for more!

I really enjoy eating here. The food has always been delicious and the service is top notch. I feel that I have many options for a healthy lunch that aren’t boring or standard. Not a lot of restaurants make me feel that way. The environment is nice as well. It is classy without being pretentious. Prices are slightly higher than a regular café but it is Nordstroms, I expect that. Just like their merchandise. Great place to meet an old friend for lunch.

Frist tip, try to tomato bisque, get extra garlic crustinis, and try the garlic aioli sauce with the french fries. Second, if you’re not terribly hungry then order off the kids menu.
Now, as for my review. I have eaten at Nordstrom Bistro and ordered food to-​go on several occasions and have rarely been disappointed. The entrées and desserts are so delicious and the ingredients in the salads and on the pizzas are always fresh.
This bistro is a wonderful departure from the greasy, predictable food that is available in the food court, and I am happy to say that it is still somewhat a secret that very few non-​Nordstrom customers know about. You can typically eat in peace without obnoxious toddlers yelling and running around or hoards of teenagers sitting around taking up tables, and they offer wine and now craft beer! After a long day of shopping, waiting in lines, dragging bags around, and searching for a parking spot at 12 Oaks, being able to sit down and have a fresh, hot meal and a glass of wine is a welcome escape.
I did not give ⁵⁄₅ stars, because I find the setup at the bistro a tad bit odd. You order and pay for your food at the front, then you choose a table and your server brings your food and drinks. I find this odd, because you close your bill before you are able to tip your server. So, if you pay for your food with a credit card, and do not have cash on you, then you are unable to tip your server unless you order additional food after you are seated. I have eaten here before and didn’t have any cash, so I ordered additional food to-​go just so I could have the opportunity to leave a tip for my server, but this can make for an uncomfortable situation for customers, especially if they are not aware of this before eating here.

An oasis in the desert that is Novi. And now carrying local craft beers to go with your delicious salad and flatbread brick oven pizza.

I didn’t think if ever be a «regular» at a department store restaurant but this place is amazing!!! Sandwiches are the best but salads are good too. Prices are a tad but high but totally worth it. Not all nordstrom restaurants are the same tho so be careful. This one is extraordinarily good. Especially the short rib sandwich and the chicken bistro club sandwich. Comes with olive dip on side to dip your fries in that are excellent.

I feel fancy when I eat here. Even though I’m typically shopping with one or both kids, in my mommy yoga pants and not feeling very «Nordstromy», at least I can sit down at the mall for a respectable meal that doesn’t have to be at the food court. And have wine.
Salads and sammies are really tasty. Not greasy or gross, but not too petite. And the seasoned thin cut french fries even seem to be «healthy» tasting yet delicious. Even the kids menu is top notch. Would you really expect anything less from America’s favorite retailer? Well, I don’t know if they are really America’s favorite, but I sure as hell love me some Nordstrom. Did I mention they serve wine?

Very good salads and fair price. However, cashier was beyond rude on both occasions I’ve been there. Disappointing as this is the first person you encounter on your experience at this café.

Love, love, love their salads. Best salads around. The French Onion Soup is quite delish too! The are very accommodating with kids & even bring out a box of raisins for them while we wait for the food.

Love their warm goat cheese salad and signature crab bisque soup! My favorite lunch spot.

I get take out from this place a few times a month and I’ve never been disappointed with its fresh fare.
The Bistro Crab Bisque is one of my favorite dishes to order, and the crustinis that come along side of it are just to die for. Their salads are sandwiches are better than average, but I wish they were served in something with a little more insulation, as everything that should be hot seems really cold by the time I get back to the office, which is just about a mile away.
The crown jewel of this place, in my opinion, is Café Bistro’s take on French fries, which are nicely seasoned with a delightful blend of what I believe to be garlic, salt and herbs. The fries are served with a splendid «ketchup» that I’m not even sure has tomatoes in it.
And while I do love take-​out from Café Bistro, I’m not a fan of dining in. It has nothing to do with the friendly staff, but the patrons. I’m almost positive they’re all snooty housewives and daddy’s-girls who spend their days shopping and lunching with their friends, only to drive home in their Mercedes, Land Rovers or BMWs to catch up on the soaps the recorded while they were out.

What a pleasant surprise! Who knew a department store could make such great food. We’ve been twice now and each time I’ve had the Roast Chicken Pommes Frites. Nice crispy skin on the outside, juicy and moist chicken breast underneath. The fries are also cooked perfectly. Just be sure to dip them in the Kalamata Olive Aioli that comes on the side. If Nordstrom’s only had a TV, I would sign up to go shopping more often.
The Novi location currently does not have cupcakes, but we hear that they’re coming soon. Somerset Collection has red velvet cupcakes! Yes, real red velvet, not that red no. 5 food coloring. By far, the best cupcake that we’ve eaten in Michigan.
Nordstrom’s is that deal!
