John’s Famous Bagel & Deli

If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would. We came here at 2:15 when they closed at 3, and the woman behind the counter did not seem happy to see us. Okay, whatever. Then I attempted to order a gyro and was told that they turned off the grill so they could only give us coldcuts. Okkkkayyyy. We ordered our sandwiches (the chicken salad, by the way, is just overcooked chicken, a little onion, and A LOT of mayonnaise) and handed over our debit card, at which point we were told that they had already turned the credit card machine down for the day. 45 minutes before they closed. BUT we could use their ATM for a mere $ 5 fee between their charge and our banks’. Ummmm, WTF. Now at nearly $ 23 for lunch for two people! We were so annoyed we tried to eat in our car… until the food was so bad we couldn’t eat more than 2 bites before we threw it away. This place was HORRIBLE.

I dropped my car off at the Kia dealer in Nutley NJ and went looking for some breakfast. I saw this sign for John’s Famou Bagel and Deli and decided to stop in. I was pleased that I did. I ordered the breakfast special eggs home fries and bacon. The home fries were made fresh right in front of me on the grill. The staff were very courteous and pleasant and they brought my food to me at the table where I sat. They serve bagels that are made on premises. The place is neat and clean and everything appeared fresh I can’t wait to the next time I’m in the area to drop my car off to service so I can stop by
