5 out of 5 stars. Hearing friends rave about this shop’s customer service is the reason I started coming to this shop in 2014 in the first place despite the Toga name — a bad 2013 experience at the Upper West Side Toga made me vow never to shop at a Toga again. I’ve been a customer of this location since then. The shop has been under new management over the past few months(hence, the name change) however there has been no material staff change and I’ve noted no difference in customer service, if anything, it’s gotten better. I’ve gone to this shop for a variety of things ranging from fittings(Tony), tune ups, replacing or adding new equipment. The staff will tell you right there if they can do the labor while you wait or if you need to drop the bike off and come back. Prices are retail which are not always the lowest but it’s sometimes worth paying full price to have them take care of something on the spot. For big price differentials, they’ve provided a price match for lower equipment prices you find elsewhere like amazon — only have to pay the labor — which not every shop does. Tony and Chris are knowledgeable about equipment, fit and trends and provide their recommendations and not necessarily just in favor of the brands they carry. They are very good about providing you with options — I witnessed this personally last week when we brought in a friend to buy a mountain bike. Tony provided him with all economical options to fit his price range and preferences. I trust their recommendations, enough to consider purchasing a new tri bike from them in the near future.

I find the NYC location snarky and unpleasant, but the Nyack crew did me right a few weeks ago. I broke a dérailleur cable on my way from Manhattan to the Orchards and had to ride 10 miles back to Nyack in my smallest cog. They had me over a barrel and I braced myself for a ruined day. But they took me right away and I was out of there in 15 minutes for the princely sum of $ 10.82. Plus, while one of the two employees replaced my cable, I had a nice chat with the other one, who was probably the nicest bike shop guy EVER. I should have gotten their names so I could give them a shout-out here, and tell the Manhattan crew to take a lesson from their suburban brethren. Props!

I walked in not expecting to buy a bike and walked out with the beautiful Specialized. The best part is service tuneups for life with the purchase Probably spent more than I wanted to with all the extras but it was worth every penny. Will definitely recommend The store to anyone who cycles as a novice or pro. Thank you to Charlie who was a big help.

Came back to get a new set of pedals and shoes for my Specialized Dolce, which you may recall I bought here last summer. Tony installed my pedals, put the cleats on my shoes and helped me get the hang of getting on and off my bike without tipping over. He was patient and funny, and he took his time getting my husband and me accustomed to the new set-up! Always a pleasure to give Toga my business: it doesn’t matter if they’re a bit of a hike from Jersey City because the service is first class.

For a green cyclist, Toga proved quite helpful and, surprisingly, less humiliating than I’d expect. Why? I’ll tell you… Nyack is a town filled with pretentious bikers. It’s often obnoxious and, I hate to admit, somewhat intimidating. Upon arriving at Toga, they knew I wasn’t there as a professional cyclist but they still made me feel incredibly comfortable. I walked out with shoes for spin class that we’re perfectly fitted and calibrated. Thanks, Toga staff, for being crazy helpful and not making me feel like a dummy.

Since I’ve traded in my bar life for the bike life — you know, waking up at 4AM vs coming home at 4AM — and finally started venturing beyond Piermont/Nyack, these guys have become my go-to stop on the longer rides. Chris/Frank are super friendly, knowledgeable and won’t pressure you into buying anything — but you want to, just to give these guys your business! Have bought everything from nutrition to bike parts/services on long rides and every experience has been consistently pleasant. BONUS: keep their number handy — if you’re stranded due to a mechanical issue, they will come pick you up. BONUS2: they transfer gear to Gotham or Toga Manhattan for free. Read the Toga Manhattan reviews — consistently 1 star reviews from experienced cyclists. Toga Nyack is the opposite with consistent 5 star reviews. Says a lot about Nyack’s excellent customer service. I’d rather ride out here and carry swag home on my sweaty back than give any patronage to the rude folks at Toga Manhattan. Thanks Toga Nyack!

Had to drop in to fix a flat while out training. They were friendly, helpful, and made suggestions without being overly pushy. They even showed me an easier more effective way to mount the new tire. This is also a great place to make a pitstop. Nice clean bathroom, free air, drinks/snacks.

Just stopped by for information about the shop and looking to get back to riding after a time off. They couldn’t be more helpful in answering questions or encouraging me to get back to riding. So much so that my 16 yr daughter started to ask about starting ride. Would like Chris for his time, he will see again soon.

This place saved my scrotum. Literally. Read on. I went on a cyclocross ride from Brooklyn to Haverstraw to ride the trails. It was amazing experience minus one thing. I recently got a pair of cheapo ride jersey from Chinese eBay and it came with a pair of matching biking shorts. I figured«what the hell, might as well try them!» Note to self: on a 90+ mile ride with offroad it is probably not smart to test drive gear. Crappy gear at that. Ride around Nyack I went to the bathroom and«down there» didn’t look pretty. I will spare you the details but a trip to the pharmacy was in order. I figured if I rode my shorts all the way back to Brooklyn hospitalization would be required. So I charted a course to this place as an emergency pit stop. The stuff was very helpful and set me up with a great pair of Toga’s own bib shorts. Those were amazing! All my symptoms from man parts vanished within 5 miles of riding them and most of the pain went away shortly after that. Another note to self: keep $ 10 biking shorts of unknown origin away from your private parts in the future. Great shop and great people. All around fantastic experience.

The power generated from my legs produced so much torque that it overwhelmed and snapped my chain going up hill in Nyack Beach Park… err, kidding. It was an old chain that needed replacing, but it did snap on the incline at Nyack Beach Park. I would’ve been stranded if it wasn’t for these guys. Anthony(Tony?) came out and rescued us and drove us back to the shop. The guys here fixed me up and also helped us with outfitting our bikes with some accessories. Big kudos to Anthony for picking us up and helping us with everything. Everyone there was helpful and very knowledgeable. You guys rock!

My kind of bike shop — knowledgeable, available, easy to stop by with a quick problem, a Specialized dealer — huge plus for me at least — and staffed by ppl who ride and relate well to other riders. Use em, support em, keep em around. So what if you can get the same part for 67 cents less on the interwebs? Will the interwebs be there for you when your dérailleur dies on a cold rainy Nov eve? Will it stay open late to make sure you can get home? Insisting you borrow, not buy, borrow a light, so you get home safe? Toga did that for me

Great service. They helped me with a tire problem. Totally friendly and attentive. Also provided me with some education. Additionally I bought a bike for my son last year and it is great. Only bike shop I use now.

Leslie, the bike mechanic, is fantastic. He does full service on my 2 specialized Epics and my 5 road bikes. Like any bike shop, it is more important to find a staff passionate about bikes rather then sales people trying to push product. Don’t expect on-point follow up, that’s the customers job here, A small price to pay for a passionate bike staff.

I am really kind of shocked I am not giving them a 5 star review right now but based on my second experience I had to knock it down a couple stars. Overall 2.5 stars. My boyfriend bought a Cannondale road bike from them, a 2012 model that wasn’t specifically discounted so he haggled and they knocked the price down by about $ 200. The sales guy was awesome — hilarious, knowledgeable, etc, wish I remembered his name. While wheeling and dealing I got on a road bike for the first time(at the time I had a hybrid) and fell in love. I wasn’t ready to buy yet but the sales guy was all, when you are ready just come down we’ll show you everything you need to know… how to change a tire, use clip ins, etc etc. About 2 months later I was browsing the 2012 closeout bikes on their website and found a Cannondale that looked nice in my price range. A phone call later I found out they didn’t have it but Cannondale did so they arranged for me to buy it and have it shipped there. Well it was a Friday afternoon and the guy said he would let me know for sure if he was able to get it(2 left in my size per the online stock). Crickets. 2 phone calls later I found out on Monday they were in fact able to get it for me, mind you they charged my credit card on Friday. I came in on the following Saturday to pick it up and was sad to see«our guy» from the first time wasn’t there. The two guys who were there got me the bike and asked if I needed anything, I said, oh maybe to get it fitted etc, and then some other customer kind of interrupted and the guy helping me went off to help him. The other employee checked me out at the register to give me my receipt and then went to help someone else. I just felt like since I had already paid for it and didn’t buy a bike already in their stock(more incentive to move it) they just kind of wrote me off once they had my money.

If you are a regular cyclist up 9W in NY/NJ up to Bear Mountain and beyond you’ve come passed Toga on your way. It’s a great shop that is on 9W that services to the higher tier cyclists. Great place to pick up some bars and offers great water with ice cubes and air pumps out front. The store is also kind enough to offer use of bathrooms for us cyclists making our training rides up north or south. A major plus so definitely purchase some items at the store. Great helpful staff and the mechanics do a good job of tuning up or fixing minor bike problems. Nice varied inventory of items and the store is large to carry a variety of bikes. A usual stopping point for me in Nyack and a good place to discuss bike related topics.

Being the green veggie type who just quit smoking, moved back up from the city and is missing the non-stop running around, I decided I wanted a bike. Now I’m not a cyclist who can do the intense NYC to Nyack and back rides(yet), but I can rock out a good multi-mile trail ride in no time flat. So what’s a girl on a budget looking for a good quality bike to do? I checked out several Rockland and NYC bike shops with varying success, but it was Toga in Upper Nyack that rocked my world and delivered in the end. Tony, Ed, Ben, Bevan, and Felix wowed me with their customer service savvy. They were amazingly patient, friendly, and professional when it came to helping me find my bike. There was no sales pressure, in fact at one point they wouldn’t let me buy a bike I liked because it didn’t fit quite right. I’m glad I listened to the guys and waited because now I have the perfect bike!
