Definitely the place that will satisfy your Chinese food cravings. I’ve loved this place since freshman year of high school(I went to NHS which is a 3 minute walk from the restaurant) and I always come back whenever I’m home from school. The price of the food is pretty decent and the portions you get are good for what you pay. It’s a great place to grab lunch with your friends with. The restaurant has that casual cozy feel. They do deliver and have order for pick up so eating there is not the only option!

Golden Mushroom is the answer to your Chinese Food problems. I have eaten here a bunch of times(mostly takeout but a couple times in the restaurant itself). This place has some of the absolute best Chinese food I have ever had. The marinated chicken wings are incredible. I’ve never had wings with a flavor that deep while not compromising the crispness of the breading on the outside. They are unique and delicious. Their steamed pork dumplings are maybe the best I’ve ever had. Sometimes when you order pork dumplings at other places, the meat seems a bit mysterious. Not here. The meat tastes clean, with a great texture and flavor that when combined with the doughy, al dente wrapper of the dumpling and a little bit of the seasoned soy sauce they are served with, becomes a top notch appetizer. I am a big fan of their mei fun, I usually order the beef but I’m sure they are all good. The beef mei fun is so so good, the noodles are somehow even thinner than other mei fun I have had, and I love it. I have also ordered the cold sesame noodles every single time I eat there. They are absolutely the best sesame noodles I have ever tasted. The peanut butter in the sauce is a compliment, not the overwhelming focus of the dish, allowing the noodles and sesame oil to really shine. Those dishes are the ones I order the most, but I have tried probably 10 other items off the menu and they have all been, at the very least, good. Some, like the Pad Thai or Thai coconut chicken, Peking duck, and others have been really delicious. All in all, if you are looking for s sit down dinner in a nice environment with a really friendly staff, or a quick take out dinner that isn’t super expensive and has delicious high quality food, this is the place. Enjoy.

I have been going to Golden Mushroom for many years. I have never had a bad meal. The food is always high quality. The Asparagus Supreme is awesome. The owners are very nice and always ready to assist you.

Traditional Chinese restaurant. The food is what you expect from a decent Chinese restaurant. I can’t comment on the Sushi or Thai food. We take out and eat in a few times a month. My only gripe with all Chinese restaurants is the price. It’s pay for all, no combos in the restaurant. So it does get pricey with a couple of people on the tab.

Decent food and prices. Not the best I have, but definitely enough if you are around and need a quick bite. The nachos that they serve unlimited and free are the best!

I have been a regular at Golden Mushroom for years, so I was taken aback when a takeout order was incorrect and the problem was not addressed. I ordered 2 sushi rolls, among other items, and instead received the sushi lunch special. The hostess refused to change my order and proceeded to get very rude. The dollar amount was insignificant, it was the principle. I thought it was very disrespectful to be treated like that from a business that I have patronized for years. I will no longer give this business my hard earned money. At the very least I need to let people know that this Establishment is ungrateful for your business.

Really nice Chinese Food Restaurant. Did not pay much, however, ate a lot and very tasty. Food was very fresh and smelled just wonderful. The parking might not be always available, but we could find a spot near by. Very polite and welcoming personnel. I am definitely coming back there to explore some more of their food.

Very overpriced 13 dollars for a combo then I found a hair and small bone. Just go to a better place and the bone is on my account pictures.

This review is a public service to any person who wishes to eat food, to quote from«Lost in Space», the 1960’s science fiction classic’s «Robbie the Robot»; «DANGER Will Robinson, WARNING, WARNING!!!» Heed the robot. This place is simply horrid. Details: A friend of mine and I stopped in 2 days ago for lunch, as we were passing through. We ordered a) A thai dish; deep fried tofu(ostensibly with Thai dipping sauce), Pork Tonkatsu, and Spicy Shrimp. The Thai appetizer was terrible because; instead of a bunch of 1 inch size cubes(the proper size for eating with chopsticks or a fork), it came as one large solid block of tofu that had been deep fried with a light coating. It required a knife to eat, none were available, but proper cutlery couldn’t save this tragic mess. It had BONITO flakes on top of it(Japanese, and, never properly belonging on this dish), and strips of NORI(used to wrap sushi… uh, wtf?). The«Thai» sauce they brought was soy sauce. I asked the waitress why? She said, believe it or not, «This is a CHINESE restaurant». Oh. Ok. That’s why they putrefy a delicious Thai dish? I asked her for the correct sauce. She, quite eager to please, brought back a horrendous tasting PEANUT sauce(which, I presume they use on their«authentic» Thai dishes), which tasted like dish-washing water, soap, and salt and some errant ground peanuts. I suddenly had visions of Gordon Ramsay dining with me, making all those wonderful faces he does on «Kitchen Nightmares». Ours was just beginning. I again asked the waitress(who, it must be said, was very solicitous and tried her best to help) if they had anything even close to the proper Thai sauce(which is a sort of spring roll sauce topped with crushed peanuts). She said they didn’t, and I settled on some hoisin mixed with duck sauce, attempting to make it edible. Next, was my friend’s Pork Tonkatsu, her standard order in a Japanese restaurant(remember, this place bills itself as proficient in all 3 cuisines –Chinese, Japanese, and Thai). It came in a Bento box. Accompanying it was a California roll(standard), which was inedible. The rice(arguably the most important ingredient as well as the barometer for the quality of the food) was mush, lacked vinegar balance, and basically laid waste to any hope of decent tasting roll. The pork was incredibly dry, stringy, and flavorless. My friend and I are foodies, and this fiasco was completed with my dish, the spicy«shrimp». I understand that the size of shrimp has a direct correlation with cost, and, this place sure must be saving money, as, the«shrimp», were absolutely tiny. They were baby shrimp, overcooked to the point of rubber. The red tangy sauce was the only thing that rated above a «2» at the whole lunch. I’d give it a «3». Barely. This dining experience was, in a word, embarrassing. I’ve not eaten a meal so completely bad on all levels(again, except the service) since I was in England 5 years ago… now there, they REALLY know how to destroy a meal. I can fathom no reason for patronizing this place, and, I’m sorry to have to say it, as, the people there were invariably nice, and attempted to be helpful. I strive not to lie, ever, so, when the waitress(for the fourth time) asked if the food was good, all I could must was a «We’re ok», which was the truth. We were not dying. If this is all Congers has to offer by way of Asian«Fusion», I’d say you’d be far, FAR better off buying some P.F. Chang frozen at the supermarket. Soooooooooooooooo, bad. Sorry.

My whole high school experience was based on going across the street to the Golden Mushroom for their AMAZING lunch special. Sesame chicken, rice and a drink for $ 5 and some change! I have since left the area and have YET to find a better Sesame Chicken dish Divine!!!

What a disappointment! I should have suspected that this probably was not going to be a good place. The menu had Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine all mixed together. Although they advertize as being authentic, the menu looked almost like any other Chinese take out menu. I had lunch here with my girlfriend this past week. We both ordered from the lunch specials which include a choice of: Egg Drop, Wonton, or Hot & Sour soup or soda, and white or brown rice or pork fried rice. I chose the wonton soup and the mixed vegetables with shrimp and brown rice. The soup tasted bland with little flavor and the wontons, although looking homemade, tasted very strange. Although the mixed vegetables in my entrée tasted fresh, the shrimp tasted as if they’d been frozen a long time and lost any kind of flavor. There was way too much brown sauce in the dish, masking any flavors of the vegetables and shrimp. My friend also ordered the wonton soup, agreeing with me as to the lack of flavoring and the funkiness of the wontons. She ordered the Lo Mein with vegetables, saying that there wasn’t much flavor in her dish either. Even the tea we were automatically given when we sat down, was without much flavor, like they reused the tea bags one too many times. The atmosphere is quite dated, except for the healthy looking plants, and the large fish tank full of exotic fish. Unfortunately, anyone who actually thinks this place is good probably has never tasted authentic Chinese food. What a shame.

Classic Chinese restaurant with a little sushi and Thai thrown in. :))) That was my tip. This is my review. On a super hot day with somewhere to be and a grumbling hunger in the belly we spied Golden Mushroom and decided to give their lunch menu a try. We have driven past GM many times on our way to Nyack central but had yet to stop by. It is a bit off the usual beaten path but with such glowing Unilocalage we drove into their almost full parking lot. After being seated on the right side of the restaurant where everyone else was dining(the left side is designated sushi area) we were presented with their impressive detailing all their Chinese dishes and their Thai and Japanese offerings. We were also presented with a pot of tea and those greasy fried noodles with duk sauce. Classic. As the colorful African Cichlids and Parrot fish were swimming about in their freshwater tank, we had a quick look at their standard lunch specials. But since they did not have a pure vegetarian set up we delved into the main menu. Luckily they had a decent selection of tofus/tofues ;) in their Vegetable section so we chose from there. I opted for the General Tso’s Tofu with brown rice. It was a plentiful portion full of flavor with a delicately crunchy exterior masking its white pillowy interior. Whole dried hot red peppers added not only heat but a decorative flourish. The L. chose a less adventurous dish a steamed trio of green veggies, tofu with mushrooms and bean sprouts and a side of sesame sauce. It looked brilliant and green on its arrival. We shared but the standard size portion on such a hot day proved to be too much. We ended up leaving enough of both over that we took them home combined in one container-the best of both worlds. I am sensing a nice omelette in our near future… When in the mood for old style Chinese cuisine Golden Mushroom will be on our short list. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly and efficient. It is nice to see this type of establishment adapting for current tastes yet retaining their original vision. A summer classic.

GREAT food! I ate here with my daughter & had the following: PuPu for 2 — Great Special Fr. Rice — Some of the best I’ve ever had Gen Gao’s Chicken — Very Good. Very fresh flavors… everything I tasted seemed as though it was cooked to order. I would go back there again in a minute. Very clean setting from my experience… a very friendly staff.

The quality of their Chinese food is excellent. It’s not your standard, greasy, junkie take-out joint. Our favorite is the twice sautéed pork. We always get take-out, so I can’t speak to the service. We always stick to the Chinese side of the menu, and leave the Thai and Japanese to restaurants that specialize in those cuisines.

Golden Mushroom is our go-to for Chinese food delivery. That said, I cannot endorse Golden Mushroom as great Chinese food… They’re just better than others in the area. Delivery will either be there in less than 10 minutes or more like 45 – 60 minutes. Food can be hit or miss, as well… Lo Mein is no good. Mei Fun is very good. Spare ribs are either great or awful. Steamed dumplings are gummy… not recommended. Chicken and broccoli is very good. I’m convinced there’s got to be MSG in this food, though, because even if it’s not good, we can’t stop eating it.

It’s typical American style Chinese food. Didn’t try Japanese but Thai dish was mediocre. Service was per Chinatown, seemed annoyed taking orders and managed to forget some items here and there(ladies working there are better) General tso was waaaaay too much source… and not enough chicken. Zero veggie was another turn off. Chx and broccoli was very good. Dim sum was total disaster, it was just a shumai dumpling. Did I miss small writing??? Overall this is Nyack and it’s descent. But I’d prefer Thai place on main street(can’t recall name)…
