Disrespectful service by the old man. When I first walked in, I thought this was promising. The food smelled great and there were pictures on the wall of veterans who have served this country. As a veteran myself, I appreciated that. However, upon getting closer to the hot food, it looked as if most of the food were greasy hot dogs, greasy chicken cutlets, and gooey macaroni and cheese. My disappointment came when I politely asked a question to the server behind the counter and he showed me his hand, telling me to wait. If he was busy he could have asked me nicely. When he did get around to me, I politely asked him what type of cutlet was in front of me. He answered rudely, something to affect of there is a lot of food and he did not know what I was talking about. finally, when he answered it was chicken cutlet, I asked him what kind of fish was next to it and he answered that they were all out. After experiencing such negative customer service and such rude interaction, I politely told the man to have a nice day and I walked out. I do not recommend this business. you are better off going into town for lunch.

the owners are rude especially the older woman at the counter — the son seems perpetually angry and the older man is making sandwiches, bagels etc without using gloves. They often have a dog loose in the store although I havent seen that recently. The prices are high. I will say that they have a nice variety of hot food at lunchtime but the cons beat the pros in going here.

Been going to this place for years. The owners(especially the older woman and her kids) are consitantly rude and cold toward customers with racist undertones. They are unkind, demanding and under stocked. Not to mention over priced. They make a good sandwich, don’t get me wrong, but with four people working there at most hours, they should be a gourmet deli with more options instead of a rinky dink bodega. I love the family run atmosphere but not when the family is rude and judgemental. I suggest a kinder dispostion. Stop answering the phone«uh-huh» don’t ask a customer to repeat themselves by saying«what?!» And keep your judgements toward others to yourself. Everyone deserves the same courtesy.

Historic little grocery in Upper Nyack. If you were an elementary kid, you went to Hartells at some point. Nice deli.
