Temptations Cafe

wow! Temptations is one of our favorite restaurants in Nyack. Jeremy the executive chef there is amazing! We probably eat there twice a week. New specials every week that bring a new level of flavor each time we go. Temptation is a family restaurant where you can get 5 star food and good old comfort food too, ice cream Sundays and their adult shakes are off the cuff. If you want white glove service forget it. Service is good, being a family restaurant that can be a difficult task but they always do there best and make you feel like part of the family. Temptations is a diamond in the rough you go in expecting just an ice cream parlor and get a culinary experience that makes your palate dance. Highly reccomend

Ice cream is good, food is mediocre, service is abysmal. I’ve been going here for years, and the service has definitely declined. It’s at the point now where the staff doesn’t even pretend that the presence of customers isn’t an annoyance.

Food is really good but everything else negates that. The long wait for a table and then the wait for food is slow. Don’t expect a beverage refill either. Not worth your time. Wanted to love it but I didn’t.

After walking along Main Street and being tempted by many restaurants, we decided on Temptations Café, not because it looked inviting, but because the menu said the burgers were made with chuck, short rib, and brisket cuts of meat. Wow! Never heard that before. So, we took a chance.
When you walk in, it looks like an ice cream parlor with one table. Only when you walk all the way to the back do you see tables, except for one in the front.
I had a medium rare, French onion burger with cheddar and carmelized onions with au jus sauce. OMG! The sauce tasted like it took days to make. The burger was so juicy and incredibly delicious… probably the best i’ve ever had. For only $ 11.95! And it came with a choice of handcut, fresh, regular or sweet potato fries, sauteed garlic spinach, grilled vegetables, or onion rings, I have ever heard of these interesting choices with a burger, have you? I had the SP fries — crazy good! My girlfriend had Mom’s burger, which is russian dressing, grilled peppers and onions with onion rings. She was thrilled too!
We met with the chef, Jeremy, later, who was as customer-​service focused as can be. He explained how everything is very fresh and homemade. Boy, was that obvious. He shared some of his specials with us, which were all delicious-​sounding and a bit unusual. My mouth was watering just listening to these dishes, even though I just ate.
We expressed that the place’s décor doesn’t represent the quality of food of the restaurant. Make no mistake about it… this is a top notch restaurant, not a simple ice cream
it appears.
We live in Brooklyn, which is not around the corner from there, but we’ll be heading back there for sure. This restaurant is a keeper!

I had not been inside here for years, and it was much, much better than I remembered, especially the service.
I had a swiss onion burger… not cooked to the temperature I asked for, but still quite tasty. The salad was a bit disappointing (all romaine) but the dressing was tasty.
My brother had the special salad, which looked excellent. He really enjoyed it.

Went to temp’s on Aug 1^st. What a roller coaster of a ride it was there. The food was 5 star. Shared a Grilled Veg salad, Duck Rangoon & Kobe pastry puffs with my wife. The service was zero stars. We had sleepy & slow waiter. No interaction, he would have been better working at a counter @ a Fast Food joint. the Bus boy was more helpful & friendly. There are so many other restaurants in Nyack. We will not be returning to Temp, s.

Temptations is the perfect name for this place. That being said, it was pretty hard to choose any one dessert. I ended up getting the chocolate mousse cake after some helpful advice from our waiter. It was pretty good, but a little too sweet and creamy for my taste.
The place itself is pretty darn cute… It had an old fashioned feel to it. It would’ve been cuter if they played some malt shop oldies music.
They have limited seating inside, but they have an outdoor dining area available.
The service was very good. Hence the 4 stars instead of 3.

Temptations is a great little restaurant. it’s known for it’s selection of desserts (which are amazing) but the food is also really good.

Very good food — fresh and made to order. It is much more than just an ice cream parlor. The owner, John, is very nice and friendly. Give it a try!

Was in Nyack for the first time, was looking for an ice-​cream place. Ordered smoothie, which I would think would have been made from fresh fruits, unfortunately not sure what kind of banana smoothie it was, just saw mixing liquid from the frig & ice. It’s a shame to charge $ 5 for that. Also the ice-​cream scoop was a rip off as well. Would not suggest having ice-​cream or smoothie in that place. It was a disaster & complete disappointment. Best place to have ice-​cream is in Cold Springs Moo Moo Creamery. Try & you will know the difference!

Wonderful little restaurant! The food is always great, I always get the cajun BLT and sweet potato fries, and whatever the appetizer special may be. While I’m not the most adventurous eater, the specials always look well thought out, well constructed, and exciting.
The staff here is so warm and welcoming. Five stars all the way!

Have lunch here recently with a friend. The food was all homemade and fresh. The fries are hand cut and cooked twice! Sweet potato fries, delicious as was our wraps. We will definitely be going back soon.
The owner and wait staff are super friendly. The prices are very reasonable.

Dined in for the first time last month. Unfortunately, my sister and I had to be in and out within 40 mins. The waitress was a doll and made sure that happened :)
To be fair, the food was mediocre. I had the scallop special with white asparagus and an orange sauce. I really enjoyed it however, my sister was disappointed with her korean burrito. It was all rice and no beef.

Delicious food. Great staff. It’s great for friends, family and kids. Highly recommended! The deserts,… Well,… They don’t call the place «Temptations» for nothin’!

We almost didn’t go because it didn’t have 4 stars here. We would’ve missed so much! The food was amazing, I had Crabby Carrot, a daily special. Omg! It was so good! My husband had another special which was amazing. But I want to get to the pecan pie: fresh and delicious! Even my sangria was perfect! Will definitely go back!

The food was tasty. I had the corned beef sliders on very soft potato bread. Very good! Even better was the kindness of Brianna, manager and John, the owner. Turns out that Temptations is more than just an ice cream place!

Love this place. Best bet for lunch in Nyack. 2 words: chicken salad. Awesome regular salads too. All around a good choice.

Fantastic ice cream and a decent sized menu of yummy options. They have bar-​type foods like mozz sticks, burgers, and chicken fingers, but they also have some pretty awesome sandwiches and salads. I’ve never had their baked goods but I’ve heard they’re delicious — I’m an ice cream gal, so that’s what I order there.
Prices are very reasonable and the décor is adorable — drinks are served in mason jars and furniture/​dishes is an eclectic «nothing matches» mix of what I call «garage-​sale» décor. Super cute.
My only reason for not giving the 5^th star is that the staff is extremely young (mostly high school and some college aged) and is often not as attentive as I’d like. Also, it can get pretty packed in here at night, especially during the summer.
