I wandered into this store one afternoon while my wife and sons were having a nap. We were visiting from Coastal Mississippi, and I was quite literally just killing some time one afternoon. I happened to see a Yakima Rooftop Box that I had been lusting after on the various gear sites including REI, et al., and I mentioned to Myles that I had seen the item on sale on the REI site. Myles not only matched the sale price of the item, he also spent an inordinate amount of time and effort demonstrating the box, trial fitting it onto my Tahoe, and eventually installing the box. Myles Arbeeny was knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. He was happy to let me wander the store, and he was attentive to my questions. I highly recommend The Alpine Shop and Myles to anyone looking for info about gear or about local adventures.

Cool place with a wide selection of merchandise and knowledgeable staff. Myles, the store manager, is a very nice guy and is very helpful. Every time I’ve been in the store, the staff was able to find what I needed or make recommendations of other places that might have what I was looking for. The company is local(based in Kirkwood, MO).

This store is awesome. I love having a very local alternative to REI. Very nice in store selection for all of your outdoor needs. If you hike, ride, paddle, camp or otherwise spend any time appreciating mother nature in the great outdoors, you must check this place out. They are a little pricey, but their excellent service makes it a reasonable trade off. I was looking for information on stand up paddle boards(SUPs) and was provided with lots of useful information and education by their friendly staffer. When we were done, he shared some really cool pictures of a raft expedition he just returned from and I thought how legit it was for the store to hire people who«walk the walk.» Couple of interesting things: Full service bike shop inside, and a robust schedule of staff led outdoor events(ask for a schedule). If you need gear and live in the greater St Louis area, this place should be on your short list.

incredible. walked around the entire store with my son with no assistance. i had my son try some kayaks to see how he liked them. i picked some up to see how heavy and durable they were. i made lots of noise trying to get some attention(one other family was in the store). i saw a worker… helook at me a few times but just turned away. just walked out. guess bass pro shop would rather have my money. wont be going back. im from panama and love water sports!

Stopped in today and the place is nice! Was greeted by Coleen who was very nice and helpful with what I needed. Even offered me her banana when i said i was hungry. Prices were decent and they have a military discount! Also lots of info on outdoor activities. I will be back!
