Incredibly, after the disturbing incident when an employee rudely reprimanded for use of a phone — even when there were no other patrons in sight — a female employee at the computer desk was on a phone call the very next time I went to the library and entered the computer section. She was talking loudly and cackling even more loudly on the phone in spite of there being other patrons in the computer area! It appeared it was not a library business call conducted in a business fashion during business hours. And obviously, the extremely strict«no phone» rules don’t apply to loud-talking and loud-cackling employees who use the library phone during business hours in the middle of the library. Ironically and laughably, this episode was witnessed with a huge sign posted at the computer staff’s desk stating that cellular phone usage is not allowed! The library either needs to allow talking and cackling on phones in the library or not allow it — while enforcing the rule on its employees as well as on the patrons. If an employee is actually working and on a business call, the voice needs to be lowered and the cackling needs to cease — in an effort to stay in-line with the demands made on patrons.

The library is nice. Some of the librarians aren’t the nicest. I use to study here in between classes and some mornings before class. On Tuesday mornings a group of non-working mothers overwhelm the lobby with their weekly meeting. One time, they were on a conference call(on speaker phone) in the lobby taking up most of the tables and a guy with a crying toddler took the toddler INSIDE of the library trying not to disturb the women. Throughout the holidays they had various programs(some musical) happening in their meeting room which could clearly be heard throughout the library. Yes, small children run around yelling INSIDE of the library. This library has no respect for people that are in need of a quiet area. This place should be called a community center, NOT a library.

DUDE, I love my local library. Quiet, relaxing setting. It feels like a library not like a huge building where books are everywhere, but you don’t know where to start looking for the one that you want. Free museum passes(certain ones like the Brookfield Zoo), baby story reading time every Tuesday, self check out(just books though, not dvd’s), free internet, printing(10 cents a page) What more can you ask for? It may be small, but they can pretty much get whatever book you want since they are part of a whole network of libraries around the area. YAY, hope the internet, kindles and nooks doesn’t kill libraries off completely, it would be so sad.
