Small dumpy bar deserves respect for friendly bartenders and having sports and a pool table.

Against my better judgement, I went to the Oak Forest Pub Crawl. Tap’s was the first bar we went to. This is your no frills type of bar. Small, dark, one pool table and a few small TV’s. The service was very good with friendly bartenders, even for this event in which the bar was packed with drunk, obnoxious«kids» who couldn’t hold their beer if their life depended on it. Not sure if this is the type of place where fights always break since Kiarash Z. also experienced the same situation, but a fight broke out last night, so we left. Not sure if I would return here. It’s more of a bar for a «regular» crowd.

Taps reminds me a lot of Christine’s Place in Chicago: no frills, cheap drinks, sketchy people. Mondays and Thursdays offer $ 2 pints of Guinness(not the best pour I’ve had, but not the worst), and the Tracy the bartender is fantastic. Other than that, the place offers very little. The jukebox is underpowered. The clientele generally fits the mold of big, loud and dumb. There is no food — only small bags of chips for 50 cents apiece and free peanuts. The last time I went, some shady dude fell asleep at the bar. The bartender asked him to wake up or leave. Dude starts yelling. Other, bigger, dude starts yelling back. They started barking at each other so loudly that my friends and I couldn’t hear one another talk. Not pretty.
