Reach Out Rescue NFP

I write new review. I delete old review. The animals are very very cute. I hope they find homes. But I worry now, when they say an animal they have has to run out of time in places, where does it go?

Reach Out Rescue is a small rescue group that mainly seems to have animals rescued from high-​kill shelters as well as the occasional stray and owner surrender. I adopted my cat from ROR in September. It doesn’t have a building, so the search is a bit more difficult because you can’t just walk into a building and choose from a huge selection. Big shelters have that advantage. However, after adopting from Animal Welfare League, I’m convinced more than ever that organizations like ROR are really good options for those looking to adopt.
There are many advantages to adopting from a place like Reach Out Rescue:
A) You get a more personalized experience. I told the ROR volunteer about what I wanted in a cat, and she gave me descriptions of the cats they had that matched my criteria. At bigger shelters, the volunteers and staff may not be able to give you that attention to detail. At big shelters, they may not know anything at all about some of the animals.
B) Reach Out Rescue won’t let crappy owners adopt animals; they check references and look carefully at applications. A little more of a hassle? Yeah, but don’t you feel more comfortable knowing that you’re adopting from an organization that is highly concerned with the well-​being of its animals?
C) It’s hard to know the real temperament of an animal at a big shelter. Animals can seem more aggressive or anxious, when in reality, they’re stuck in a cage in a loud, smelly building… that may just be their understandable reaction to a bad situation. Reach Out Rescue uses foster homes, so you actually have a good picture of what the animal is like in a home. Also, in a big shelter, you may not know the pet’s history. Adopting from ROR, you can be reasonably sure that the time the animal spent at the foster home was with someone who loves animals and most likely provided the rescue with a safe, healthy environment.
D) I adopted a 1.5-year-old cat that had been in her foster home since she was a kitten. Her foster mom had other pets and fosters at her house, so now my cat is very well-​socialized. When I adopted a second cat, my cat from ROR didn’t love it at first, but after a few days she really didn’t care that much. I’d assume that many of the foster homes have resident animals that can provide socialization opportunities for the fosters.
Please consider adopting from ROR or a similar organization! It may not be as easy as going to a big shelter that euthanizes, but I’ve been so happy that I adopted my first cat from here. She’s basically the love of my life, and I hope others can find some joy from a deserving animal from Reach Out Rescue.

ROR really cares about the animals they take in. I haven’t adopted from them but know Tracy and how much her and the ROR members care about the animals and about animals that may otherwise been put down. I find Lauren’s review so unsavory. My husband and I recently adopted a Golden Retriever puppy from a rescue and 3 had to give 3 PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES in addition to lots of info. Guess what? They called them all to see what kind of home we could give Dylan. Lauren — the rescues want to make sure they have chosen the best home possible. I’d rather give a rescue my info than a pet store my credit card!!! Save a life — adopt!

This is a GREAT rescue. I was upset to see two bad reviews because the people that work for this rescue truly have the animals they rescue in their best interest. They are caring and they do have a lengthy application and home visit but I completely agree with it. With the job I hold, all too often I see animals abandoned and/​or neglected so a screening should be necessary. They take in animals even when their funds are low and they are always out to help other rescues as well when they need help. I highly recommend this rescue. A wonderful rescue! They TRULY care about animals. Many have been rescued from high kill shelters. Animals that are set to be eauthanized because they’re homeless. Reach Out Rescue’s animals are fully vetted and spayed/​neautered. They don’t have a facility but a number of loving fosters throughout the surrounding communities. They do have adoption events and more information on their website. They also have a Facebook page. It’s been a great pleasure dealing with them!
