Goodbye Borders. Thanks for your awesome going out of business sale. I got a ton of books for under $ 3 each!

I think its hilarious that someone is complaining that it has a Seattle’s Best instead of a Starbucks… same company! The café is the best part of the place. On Saturdays they have live music and they don’t mind if you drink your coffee, listen to music and read a book. And yes, the coffee drinks are just fine. I’m going to miss this place. Anyone who thinks that Borders will still exists in 12 months is crazy.

Borders is cool, even though they didn’t have the book I was looking for in stock. What I like best is the coffee shop, which was very clean and comfortable, and also has pretty good coffee. The ambience was very pleasant and relaxing, I’m pretty sure ill be back for a cup of coffee and enjoying a good read. I’m glad to see this one still in business, I don’t think lake street would look right without Borders.

Great friendly service and close to the house too I went here last night on a mission to find a book a friend told me about Salt a World History now it is about the use of Salt over the age to cure meats and what not, so you would think it would be in the cooking section right? but oh no it is a world history so it is in the history section I found out and I did a search on a computer there well the History section unlike other sections is weird to navigate so I went and asked for help, I know its against the mail code to ask for help but dang it I really wanted this book, and of course it was right there when the person that helped me looked for it ha ha jokes on me so I got my book and I had signed up with there rewards emails and I remembered I had gotten a email for 40% off so i pulled up the email on my phone and showed it to the girl and got my discount too there is a Seattle’s Best Café inside the store also I am looking forward to going back to look for more books here

In my avid studying days I would come here every so often. The coffee drinks are ok, but not consistently made which is a pet peeve for me. The café area is nice to study in but… when the sun is out, because it’s all windows it gets really hot inside. I have bought a couple of books here, and one cd, but I think the selection is not as broad as it could be. Overall it’s a backup place to go to only because there is no Barnes&Noble nearby.

I had a wonderful experience here last month. A very friendly staff member(Clarice?) helped us find exactly what were looking for. Not just searching on their computers but actually hunting through the stacks with us. It was the kind of service you’d expect from a privately-owned bookstore. Honestly. We stopped off at the Café and the guys behind the counter were polite and my drink was delicious. Borders is never truly spectacular, but Clarice made this particular trip a joy.

There is nothing better than sucking down a Javanilla shake(coffee, ice cream, what-you-need-more?) and skimming through 12 magazines under a weirdly skylit café that makes you feel like an announcement that City of New Orleans is arriving on Track Number Two. Seriously. What’s the deal with this mammoth-ass Borders at Lake & Harlem and it’s seemingly afterthought café, completely disconnected from the rest of the store. And why does the rest of this building’s book area feel like a cluttered pack rat’s basement(with a basement) filled with fire hazards(aka«books») everywhere. And there’s a Barbara’s Bookstore right down Lake Street. At least, for now. Seriously. Uh, I’ll be back only if absolutely necessary. Or you sample the shake. I might rub somebody the right way for some coffee ice cream.

Nothing makes my heart skip a beat more than knowing that my little one loves books. We’ve been visiting this particular location once a week as a treat. They have a huge children’s area. I also like the educational aids that they offer here. Staff here is very nice and helpful. Their staff is the main reason that I will keep coming back. There is one particular woman that I would love to give compliments to. She has dark hair, often pulled back and glasses. Sweetest woman ever. They have a great gift section that complements their books, videos, and music section.

The Oak Park Borders is one of my favorite ones. It is a good size and one of the least cramped ones. I believe the closest one is the one in LaGrange and parking is better there, but I think this one has a slightly better selection. Just a tip though, before you come here(especially if you have something specific in mind) stop in at The Book Table down the street first. It’s located by the Cozy Corner. You can usually find books for ¼−¾ less over there. If they don’t have it, they can probably order it. Then come here if what you’re looking for can’t be found.
