Great service and unbelievable fees for the blood tests. I definitely recommend them to anyone need to get blood tests done.

I came to Unilab to get my blood tested since it cost a lot more done at my doctor’s office. Unilab lists the price online, so you know what you’re paying for the type of work you need done. They seem to be honest with the prices. It is walk in welcome, so you don’t need to make any appointments.
The service is fast and quick. There wasn’t anyone waiting before me so I was in and out of the place within 10 – 15 minutes. This is probably the quickest visit I’ve had before. The doctor withdraw your blood and another doctor explain to you on when you will receive your results and such. I got my results emailed to me 2 business days later. I enjoyed the service and very thankful they are around for inexpensive blood tests.
One thing I didn’t like as much is their location. To me, I felt a bit unsafe going there myself in the middle of the day. Their office door is locked so you’ll have to ring the doorbell to get in.

Laboratory work can be quite expensive out-​of-​pocket. Fortunately I discovered Unilab Inc. through a quick internet search. The office is conveniently located just a block or so north of the Austin Green Line stop. I was greeted professionally and quickly tended to upon arrival. The price list is readily available and individual tests are extremely affordable. I was able to get six blood tests/​screens for employment purposes completed for only $ 120. These tests would have cost me *much* more money to complete through my physician.
Initially when I entered, I was asked if I had a doctor’s order since it is now required by state law. I explained that I did not have a doctor’s order and I was instructed to simply provide my doctor’s number and office location and that they would secure the authorization. For the sake of simplicity, I did contact my doctor’s office to request the authorization myself since it would be easier. Dr. Siva, the manager, was extremely helpful in helping to explain how they would screen for a couple of uncommon tests that I needed for employment purposes and he was quick to clarify anything I didn’t understand.
Phlebotomists usually have trouble finding a good spot to draw blood since my veins are deep. The phlebotomist that drew my blood was patient and waited until she found the best spot, which was in my left hand rather than my arms. I thought it would hurt quite a bit (I usually bruise and feel sore after getting blood drawn), but there was little pain and no bruising.
The office itself needs organizing and some interior decorating, but service is efficient and extremely cost-​effective (which is what matters). The facilities are clean; all staff members are licensed in their appropriate fields and follow mandated guidelines for universal precautions and laboratory work. I enthusiastically recommend Unilab Inc to individuals seeking a good experience for lab work at a low cost.

My typical experience of getting checked out by a doctor… look up my Dr’s number, call and be on hold until someone gets to me and then be told that the first available appointment they have is in 3 weeks. When I finally get to my appointment, I sit and wait in an office for sometimes an hour after my appointment was scheduled… just to be seen by a doctor for 5 minutes and then get my blood taken. Then wait for a few more days to receive the results (usually a voicemail left from my doctor). I have no idea how much I owe and even when I ask, my doctor tells me they’ll bill me and my insurance «should» pay for most of it. I get a bill for the Doctor visit and separate bills for the tests where, of course… insurance only covers part of it.
My experience with Unilab was completely different. (They’re a lab service, not a doctors office) I walked right in and was greeted at the door (never had to make an appointment), and asked for a few tests to get done. I filled out some basic information. They sat me down for a few minutes and they took care of blood work. The nice thing about this was that the prices are online and the price list is clearly posted. I chose the tests I wanted and the staff was friendly, professional, and patient with me when I had questions. The results were sent right to my doctor and me via email in a few days. Great experience and sooo much cheaper than going to my doctor to get the tests done through them.

Negative five stars. This place is a joke. They are in my network and wanted me to pay cash for services that my private insurance has contracted them to perform. Seven test total. They advised me that I would be responsible for a reimbursement from my insurance. That is interesting bc they are aware that cash pay services are not contracted rates.
They even hung up on the insurance company when they called. Extremely rude.

I’m so glad my doctor referred me to Unilab, knowing I’m self-​pay (no health insurance). I saved hundreds of dollars on my blood tests. At first it’s a real time warp – like walking into a 1970s free clinic, but the staff are professional and friendly. I will not hesitate to go back, and recommend Unilab wholeheartedly.

Low Cost Blood Tests! It took me forever to find this place. It has saved me MANY HUNDREDS of dollars! My Doctor insisted I get 3 blood tests. At Northwestern they cost about $ 650.00 without insurance. I called around and the low cost clinics had to have proof of income, asests, bills etc. and if you’re not on public assistence, forget it. Well since I’m not quite living in a cardboard box yet, I probably wouldn’t qualify. The lowest cost I could find was $ 200.00 for 1 test. Here you just walk in and everything is taken care of within 5 minutes. It is set up in a vitage Oak Park apartment, nothing like a cold Doctors office. Cost $ 43.00 for ALL 3 tests!!! I saved easily over $ 400.00!

This is the first and only lab you’ll ever need to go to in the greater Chicagoland area… forget about those expensive lab bills that you get slammed with through your doctor’s office. You can bring any of your clinical needs to Unilab and you’ll get fast, efficient results done by dedicated staff. You don’t even need a doctor’s prescription to get tests done here… just come into the office with any recommended doctor’s tests. Here’s a quick summary:
1. You visit your doctor and he/​she recommends that you get x, y, z lab tests done OR you yourself just want to get your own tests done out of curiosity like get your cholesterol levels checked or a CBC done.
2. Come in with your lab recommendations, and the friendly, licensed phlebotomists will do a blood test for you right there at the lab.
3. Test results are sent to you via email within 24 – 72 hours, depending on what the tests are.
The office is a bit tucked away and hard to find the first time… park at a meter anywhere you can near the corner of Austin & Lake, and walk to the door that’s directly across from Church’s (try your best to ignore that tempting and at the same time disgusting smell of grease) and next door to Unity drugstore.
