This is a great stop for some Guilford County history! We stopped here with our kids and really enjoyed touring the small grounds; the old mill is gorgeous and photographs nicely. Check out the old buildings in the back along with the little bridge and the old fashioned well. I bet it’s even more gorgeous in the fall with the autumn foliage. We spent a good half hour here and really enjoyed our history lesson. The folks who run the inside shop are super nice! Grounds were immaculate and very well kept. We would definitely come again with my best friend and fellow photographer very soon!

What a darling & fascinating place to check out while visiting Greensboro! I’m so glad we drove by or we would have never known to check it out. This mill has been around since before the Revolutionary War. The best part is that it is a working mill with a gift shop of the grains they grind! They also have a ton of mixes & jams, and a few other items that are made by a near by Amish community. If you’re from out of town, no worries because they ship! Unfortunately since we came in on a Sunday so we didn’t get to see the mill in action, but we did get an explanation from the main floor on how everything worked. The mill & the surrounding buildings are all gorgeous stone, and the landscape itself is gorgeous with hill & the creek. It would be perfect for a quick photoshoot.

Awesome place to buy local goodies. We picked up steel cut oats, stone ground yellow grits, pickled okra, pickled green tomatoes, and fig jam. All were delicious. The pickled green tomatoes were our favorite both sweet and sour. It is also a scenic place to take a few great photos.

Lovely old Mill that has a lot of grain-based goodies for sale. The staff is friendly and let you take the time to browse the product. We got a package each of hush puppies and grit for about $ 6 and can’t wait to try them at home. This mill though doesn’t look like it’s in operation anymore, so if you are planning to stop by hoping to see a full blown mill, this isn’t a place. However, for a quick stop at a charming historical mill building, it’s a good stop. P. S. This mill is open from 9am-5pm seven days a week.

This mill has it all. A scenic location, excellent product, friendly staff, and a mascot old cat who often sits on the patio to greet you. The two things that stick in my head about this store are 1) what a selection of grains and pre-mixed batters and 2) the prices are pretty fair considering the grains are milled on site. In addition for personal use, I think these products make great gifts for the holidays or when traveling to friends and family who live in a different area of the US. Most of the grains have a recipe inside the bag, which is pretty fun to try out. Overall this place is definitely a historic gem in the area. Even if you aren’t a baker, it could be great to take a little trip with older kids to see the mill.

This is where I purchase all my grain products. They have everything: pancake mixes, muffin mixes, scone mixes, flour, grits, cornmeal, etc. The mixes come in several flavors. Their apple cinnamon pancake mix is delicious. They also have other items worth checking out, like cookbooks, trinkets, jams/jellies, honey, etc. You must visit this mill at least once. The place in itself is interesting, and there’s something satisfying with buying specialty products locally and«the old fashioned way.» You can’t find quality like this in any big chain grocery store!

It’s not often that one can walk into an operational historic place, but that’s exactly what you can do here. The huge water mill works, and the flours and mixes are made on premises. In the back room of the mill is the store. Not only do they have the packages of items made on premises, but you can also purchase North Carolina made jams and jellies, cookbooks, and other unique items. It is also a beautiful spot to photograph.

More than a pretty thing to take pictures of. The mill actually works and has a cool gift shop inside. They supply Lucky 32& Green Valley Grill with all of their grits needs. In order to purchase fresh milled goodness you need to walk through the actual mill to the back room. Their Sweet Potato Muffin Mix is excellent as well as most of their other fresh milled products.
