Felipe Salon & Day Spa

This was my first time at Felipe and I loved! I came in with a free haircut that I got in the mail so I was a tad hesitant. I also hadn’t cut my hair in over 6 months. I met with Piper and she exactly what I needed. Came out with a low maintenance yet classy look! Salon was clean and everyone was very nice! Highly recommend!

Manicure was not good. Polish was sloppy and overlapped on the cuticle. Chipped within 48 hours. I’ve had my nails look much better and paid half the price.
Two starts because everyone was very nice and accomodating.

This place is amazing. Friendly stylists and the services don’t disappoint. Will definitely be coming back!

Cannot say enough good things about this place! Majority of the women in my family go to Felipe’s and have been for a number of years. I recently went from blonde to a fun shade of magenta. After a few weeks of the «fun color“I was over it. Allyson went above and beyond to help me get back to a normal color! She is so much fun to talk too & is full of information about everything. She recommended products that have saved my over processed hair. Every time I went back to fix it a little more she would always mention about wanting to keep the integrity of my hair. Which too my old hairdresser was not a concern. I cannot thank Allyson enough for all that she has done. I am now back to a beautiful blonde and I still have all my hair! Definitely recommend this salon to anyone and everyone

So I cut my hair maybe once a year and the last time I cut it I was unhappy and I’ve been going to the same hairstylist for awhile so I’ve been on the search for a new place that is inexpensive, yes I know this place is a bit pricey, but I got a Groupon for $ 30 which included cut, condition, and style and I loved it!
Piper was very friendly and made the process extremely comfortable. She asked me specifically what I was looking for and follow-​up with me to make sure she wasn’t cutting my hair too short and kept a fun conversation going. She added beautiful layers to my hair and curled it gorgeously! I got so many compliments from strangers when I finished my errands for the rest of the day.
Not sure if the Groupon is still available, but it was worth every penny. Since I only cut my hair once or twice a year I might just give in and pay the $ 65 because I really liked Piper and the way my hair turned out.

I’ve been going to Filipe for about three years now. The colorist, Allyson is AMAZING! A bit expensive but worth every penny. Everyone there is very friendly and I love the atmosphere.

Had my hair cut over two weeks ago at FilipeSalon and Day Spa but waited to give this review since a good haircut (to me) is one that after a few weeks, I still can manage and I still love! I chose Felipe”s as it was close to my office and due to the other comments on Unilocal, I thought it had enough good reviews that I had a chance of liking it. I walked in with the attitude that «No matter what, my hair will continue to grow so whatever happens, happens» Well what happened is I love my hair! The cut is great and it takes me less than 10 minutes from wash to walking out! I have had more complements on my hair in the past 14 days than I have had in the past year! Everyone there was great. Richard gave me some good advice on future coloring and didn’t try to sell me an expensive color job. Filipe listened to what I wanted and Vola! Love my hair! Glad I work out that way but I know if I didn’t, I would still make the trip to go there. So glad I found this salon!

I have been to several high end salons in the area, but Felipe is by far the best. Everyone is so personable and welcoming. My stylist Peter is great. He is very talented and knows exactly what I want and never disappoints. Kim gives great brow. So gentle you barely feel it. I would recommend Felipe to anyone looking for a great salon with the best talent.

Felipe is awesome, I have my hair done by him whenever we have a black tie or formal event and people ALWAYS comment on how great my hair looks. Richard is also wonderful. My hair looks amazing when I leave the salon EVERY time. I am in my 50s and have been going there for over 10 years now and would never go anywhere else now. I agree though with the shampoo girl. I dread getting my hair washed to the point that sometimes I was it myself before I go so I don’t have to sit in that chair and feel like my hair is being ripped off my head. She is so rough!

Sadly, I went to Felipe himself for my first visit. I explained in DETAIL that I only wanted a trim. I was going on vacation and did not want to change anything, only wanted my hair shaped and trimmed.
He said that I needed at least 2″ off to make any difference. I said, 2″ dry — because I know what happens to my hair when its cut wet. It shrinks up a lot when it’s dry.
He wanted to give me a haircut that people would exclaim, «Where did you get your hair cut, or who cut your hair?»
Again, I said, not this time, maybe next time. I like to wear my hair up to give the illusion that it’s thicker than it really is. Asked him not to cut the sides.
Right. He cut my bangs WAY back onto the top of my head. He thinned them out (I am almost 58 and have very thin hair to begin with — ah yes aging and lack of hormones). He cut my bangs with a wider swath and now I look utterly ridiculous.
It will take at least 6 – 9 months to grow these gross mistakes out. I look and feel terrible.
I paid $ 100.00 for my first (and only) visit with Felipe.
I literally cry every time I look in the mirror.
Can not understand what his agenda was.

Lisa is the younger colorist. I got an ombré done by her and it was great!
They do have more middle-​aged clients because they are not a necessarily cheap salon. However, (I’m 21) it’s worth it to me to get a great cut and color, instead of a mediocre one. I would do the «fun» color yourself and focus on what really counts…

Allyson does an amazing job coloring hair! I started going to her about 10 years ago — and never stopped.
I can’t imagine going ANYWHERE else — and wouldn’t trust my hair in the hands of anyone else.
Not only does she do a great job, but she is so fun to talk to. Even though I have a TON of hair, the two hours goes by super quickly.
Felipe is a very welcoming atmosphere, and I would recommend Allyson to anyone that needs any coloring done!

Okay, so, back-​story: I lived in Florida for about 20 years. My next-​door neighbor became a hair stylist and was *my girl* from about the time I was 16 and started getting my hair highlighted and layered and all that. She was amazing, I could literally sit down in her chair, say «I want something new, but that will look good» and she would NEVER disappoint. I absolutely LOVED her.
Fast forward to 2007, and I moved to Chicago. I have gotten my hair cut/​colored four times now since I’ve lived here – and every time with less-​than-​desirable results. Either I say what I want and they just do something else, or they attempt to give me a flattering cut and it just does not please me at all. It literally got to the point where I would go a whole year without so much as TRIMMING my split ends just so that I could wait until we went to Florida to visit my husband’s family, and make an appointment with my girl down there.
Enter: Groupon. Felipe Salon – right across the street from where I work. A great price for a cut, deep-​conditioning treatment, and blow-​dry. Whatever, I’m at yet another point in my forever long-​haired life where I’m bored and want to chop it all off again. So I take a chance at another salon, get the Groupon, make an appointment, and here I am.
Okay, so Peter was my guy. I had a couple photos of possible styles I wanted, but since (as I said) I’m a forever long-​haired girl, I wasn’t really sure which would look best on me. He was sooo awesome talking it out with me and helping my indecisive self come to a conclusion. And then when it came to the actual execution, he did not disappoint!
I had a great time talking to him, and he made my hair look amazing. I am SO happy with the final result, and that’s something I haven’t said after visits to any of the four different salons I’ve been to in the Chicago/​west suburban area. Next time I need my hair done I know who to go to!

I’ve been going to Felipe salon for many years. I am always pleased with the results. I have been to many salons in the past and in my opinion, they are no match for Felipe. All of the stylists and colorists are excellent. And everyone is friendly.

I’ve been going to Felipe Salon since I was 14 years old, so that’s 15 years now. They are the best. I’ve lived in the city now for 7 of those 15 years and I still make the trip to their salon (only 20 minutes on the weekends!). I have tried my fair share of the «best» city salons and I keep going back to Felipe’s.
Felipe Salon has everything a major city salon, like Salon Buzz, has and has two major advantages: 1) prices are way more affordable and 2) availability is better. Plus the front desk is so friendly and accommodating, unlike the stone faced, «I’m way to busy to deal with you» reception desks of most city salons.
I’m a very picky, fashion forward, young 20-​something (29 still counts!) and Felipe Salon never disappoints.
Oh yeah! They also are a Day Spa and I had the best pedicures I’ve ever had there!

I love Felipe’s! I have been going there for years also. The only reason that I didn’t give it a 5 star is the shampoo person. She tardy at getting my hair rinsed and seems to be preoccupied with talking to others. It irritates me. She doesn’t spend any time with a great shampoo massage or temples and neck like I have had at other salons.
She’s been there for years. I actually went to another salon because of the shampoo person. But then in the end I returned to Felipe’s, Juan, the stylist and ALL of the colorists are 5 stars!!! They have been trained by Richard and are GREAT! Amazing!!!
