The good. This is a good breakfast spot. Oakdale has it’s share of decent breakfasts and this is one we frequent. Most of the basic breakfasts are reasonably-priced and prepared the way you like it. They also have a decent selection of Mexican breakfasts – Huevos Rancheros and the Chile Verde Omelette are two of our favorites. Four stars for breakfast. The bad. Dinners are not their strength. We were the only patrons on a Tuesday night and we quickly figured out why. They don’t make their own tamales. The flautas were small and greasy – more like rolled tacos. The guacamole had more tomatoes than avocado, and the salsa was not memorable. The beans were probably their best feature. One star for dinner – and that’s generous. The ugly. Bad Mexican food for dinner at JC’s set us back $ 30(including tip). Listen. There’s much better Mexican fare for a lot less in Oakdale. Stick with breakfast here.

Ever since we moved to the valley from the bay area we’ve longed fr something like our favorite restaurant in Fremont(Baldies Café) where it feels like home, the food is great as are the prices and you cant wait til the next time! Well, we found it! JCs is warm, welcoming and has that old time Café feel! All the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful and you get huge portions at a great price! I love this place! To make it even better it a combination of traditional«Americana» fare, like chicken fried steak, burgers and so much more PLUS a traditional Mexican fare, with many delicious choices!!! I will be going back often! Go try it… You’ll love it too!

We went here for dinner, and the hamburgers were delicious! We noticed that kids eat free Monday, Wednesday & Friday, so we’ll come again on one of those nights to try it again. It’s a cute little diner with friendly service.

Very good all around. Great coffee. Great chicken fried stack and eggs with hash browns and good eggs and pancakes. Pancake sandwich is not what it is; sandwich. It is just pancakes on the side on the plate. Overall, very good food and we will be back

Our family loves this place. It’s a little family-owned restaurant in Oakdale. Home cooking and sweet, friendly service. We used to frequent the restaurant when it was in Modesto, same great food and service. We don’t mind the drive to Oakdale, the Cook(owner) comes out and personally speaks to the customers and checks on them.

Note that ALL the one Star Reviews are from their first four months. This is our favorite new restaurant. We live in Modesto, but have now been here three times for breakfast and once for dinner. Everything has tasted great every time, including their Omelets, Over Medium Eggs, Chorizo, Hash Browns, Taco(Tostada) Salad, and Burrito. You get plenty of delicious food for the money with plenty of good ingredients. All of the servers are the best, just really nice and friendly, and they get our orders right every time. IMPORTANTNOTE If you ever ate here when it was the Oakdale Café, do NOT worry. It is now ultra clean and totally renovated with all new attractive paint, and new upholstery, and new blinds. Everything is new, clean and attractive. THISIS A REALREVIEWFROM A REALCUSTOMER. I NEVERGETKICKBACKSORPAYMENTOFANYKINDFORANY UnilocalREVIEWS.

We LOVE this place. It’s the little family-owned restaurant you would expect to find in a quaint little place like Oakdale. Home cooking and sweet, friendly service. You can’t beat the breakfast specials.

Not excited for this place… Wow underwhelmed! For started our meals came out at different times. Next the omelet ordered was so overlooked it went back, it obviously wasn’t a priority to get it back out because the rest of the table was mostly finished before the second omelet came out. The second was better but still only average. The food was in line w a mediocre diner but at a higher price. In fairness the lunch items appeared ok but I won’t be back. Other places in town id rather next time.

I ordered the rib eye steak dinner medium rare and a baked potato. What I got was the thinnest rib eye steak I have ever seen and it was well past well done. The baked potato was cooked in a microwave and it was almost raw. I don’t mind spending good money on a decent meal but this was far from what I expected.

It’s NO café people. GREATPLACE if you’re looking for Mexican food… ordered a BLT for nearly $ 10. I could have received the SAMEEXACT sandwich for HALFTHEPRICE at Denny’s. I enjoyed the place, but unfortunately I was not satisfied with my tiny bland sandwich.

We went when they first opened and the service was poor. The food was fair. They allow their children to hang out in the restaurant. We firgured we would try it again. The service was even worse then the first visit. They brought our soups and salads with the meal. The food was still only fair. The child was in and out of the kitchen. Service was non existent. I will not go there again.

Came for dinner. Was not impressed. The breakfast is much better. Good place if you are looking for a good breakfast place. Great omelettes. Exceptional French toast and biscuits and gravy, but we will pass on the dinners.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon in the mood to try something new. First thing i noticed was the pies right by the door, they are costco pies with the labels poorly ripped off. Service was friendly. Greeted kindly and taken right back to a table. Had drinks within minutes. Environment is cleanish. A little bit of new with a little bit of old. Chairs are comfy. Food was ok, i was with a party of 5. We tried both American and Mexican plates. Everyone was content with the food with the group leaning towards the mexican food. The french fries are horrible quality, left in the fryer too long. The kids wouldnt touch the fries. Bacon cheeseburger became a normal cheeseburger due to gross fat strips being used as bacon. Biggest complaint: flies like crazy. My whole meal was a fly swatting competition. To the point were I didnt finish my plate due to irratation. Overall cost: about average. 3 adults 2 kids 45 bucks before tip. 2.29 sodas come on, id pay that in disneyland. Glad I tried it, you should to. But I dont think we will be coming back.

We stopped here for a meal years ago on the way to Yosemite. Over the Memorial Day weekend we stopped here on the way home from Yosemite and the place has a new name. Anyways we stopped for a very late lunch and five tables were occupied. Since I was on a chile relleno addiction I decided to get the chile relleno. It came on a big plate, which didn’t particularly look appetizing. But it was good and I finished the whole thing. The hubs ordered the huevos rancheros, which looked a lot like my chile relleno, but he swore it was very good too. Someday, on another trip to Yosemite I hope that this restaurant is still standing so that I can eat here again.

I took my dad there and was hoping for a new place to eat in Oakdale. The waitress was pretty nice and brought extra napkins and soda when asked. I was disappointed with the food. We ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger with fries and Ham/Turkey sandwich with onion rings. They were nice enough to substitute a sourdough bread for the seeded bun which was nice. The problem was the fries came almost burnt and the hamburger was very dry and not juicy at all. I had also asked the waitress if the onion rings were breaded or battered and she said they were breaded and I was happy with that, so I ordered. I was upset when my food arrived and received battered onion rings full of grease. I will never go again. What a shame, as our city needs some new places with good food.

This resturant was very disappointing. Long wait for food to be served. I ordered fajitas which were tough and lacked flavor.

Went 8:30AM for breakfast Mothers Day. Not full but pretty busy. Over 30 minutes to get our food. No explaination or apology. Chili verde omelete had small bone in and very tough pork, but good flavor. Huevos Divorcial had little flavor. Would not order either again. Coffee very weak, Farmer Bros. ? Hope they improve. Better choices are Ryders, and Cahoots or OGCC if your a member.

I will never eat here again! I was sick for 3 days. I ordered a omelet and it was burnt! The biscuit and gravy had no flavor, very bland. Need new cooks! Service was good!
