Oakdale Ace Hardware

Every since they rolled over all their employees I have to hunt for people that don’t know how to do anything. Why did they get rid of all the people that were older than 20?
With age comes experiance, only one person there I look for anymore and if I’m lucky (which I am not) he will be there.

Better than home depot. Very knowledgeable and honest employees. Also they have everything one need to pool supplies to drill bits to light bulbs to keys being made. Will becoming back soon

These guys have earned my business over and over again. Helpful and knowledgeable with very fair prices and great selection.

I love ACE. I practically live there. Have a lot of stuff that Home Depot doesnt have like all their air fittings. Doesn’t have as many tools, but has enough.
Best part… Free coffee as you walk in the door lol.
I’m a professional woodworker. I like ACE’s variety of glues, stains, air fittings, and especially their screws and other fasteners. Blows other hardware stores out of the water for screws. Still not quite as good of fasteners as Fastenal tho.

Staff stared at me, no one said hello, no one asked if I needed help.
After a while, of trying to find some weird clamps I was looking for, I connected the dots and they were keeping an eye on me as if I was going to steal something. I tried to convenience myself that maybe I was just jumping to wrong conclusions. So as I was searching for my item, I quickly turn my head, and caught two staff members just staring at me down the idle pretending to do busy work. They quickly looked away as I stared back.
I found the clamps but I walked out without purchasing anything feeling violated. Don’t know if it was my shaved head, brown skin, or loose clothing that made me look like a theft; but that doesn’t give any one the right to make such assumptions.
This happened to me in oct or nov of 2013. That was my first and my last time I have ever been there. I drive the extra 10 miles to Homedepot in Riverbank for all my hardware needs.

Horrible customer service. Never get any help. And when I ask for help I get an annoyed response.

At other Ace Hardware’s I’m used to waiting 10 – 15 minutes while thy figure out how to copy a key, and then having a %50 chance of it actually working in the lock.
The lady who copied my key at the Oakdale Ace today was done in under two minutes, and it worked perfectly the first time!
I wish my Ace Hardware back home was this good!

High prices, inattentive service and out of stock inventory are why I now go out of town for my hardware store stuff.
Made 4 trips there to get a stock item that they would not order right. When I got a rain check they never called. I am in town every Saturday and they never got my item.
This week they ran a coupon ad and 5 of the 8 things I wanted were sold out. The Bayer rose 2 in 1 was $ 2 more than OSH with the coupon.
The guy in black with the long fingernails is creepy.
The big box stores are 30 minutes away but at least they have what I need and I save money. I would love to buy local but these guys are making it hard.

Great local store that has everything and even though I hear people say «oh you’ll pay more for the same thing you can get at one of the other stores» but I’m telling you… you won’t get the service that you get at this store. I purchased a product that I was very excited about and it worked for a while but then I started having problems with it. They worked on it and gave me a loaner (yes, they gave me a loaner) to use while they got mine working. Well, I still continued to have problems, so without even asking, they replaced my product with a brand new one! Now I ask you… how many of the large department stores are going to take care of you like that??? NONE! And yes, this store has everything and I haven’t found that the few pennies more I spend is hurting my pocket and it’s saving me from buying asprin to deal with the headaches I have after leaving the big stores.

I’ve been shopping at this Ace for a number of years; what keeps me coming back are the staff. They’re not only nice, but they’re also knowledgeable and helpful. They’ve matched paint after having seen three other stores fail, they’ve helped me load lumber, they point me to the exact bolt I need. Can’t say enough about the service.
It’s a lot easier to get in and get out there (although it can be fairly packed during the weekend). They have a pretty decent selection, but they may not have everything you need compared to the big box stores (I rarely walk out empty handed mind you, but they don’t carry some of the trim or lumber I’ve needed in the past).
