Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro

We stopped on last Friday evening. Place lookked clean and inviting. There was 1 couple dining. (Always suspicious) But the reviews were good. Our was pleasant and helpful. We were seated and ordered. We started with the hummus and cheese appetizer. Good hummus, pita was okay, feta and olives were very good. I ordered the trio of casseroles and my dining partner ordeeed the salmon. The casseroles were okay, they didn’t taste like they’d been made that day. Or even the day before. The rice pilaf wasn’t rice pilaf. The salmon was good, the lemon sauce was tasty. Our dinners came with steamed vegetables. They were inedible. I asked if they were local, the area is known for produce, our server assured was they were fresh and local. I told her they were inedible. She said we weren’t the first people to say that, apparently someone hadn’t prepared them correctly! They served them anyway! No exchange or comps. Not even an apology. SO disappointing. The place is SO overpriced. Won’t eat there again and don’t recommend it.

My favorite restaurant in my town, the food is amazing, authentic Greek food. it’s my birthday, having a great day.

I will NEVER return to this restaurant after my last experience a week ago and my family WERE regulars. No longer. The service was horrible and they forced gratuity on our bill despite have an incompetent waiter. The quality of the food has diminished as well recently. It’s unfortunately that this local gem is longer up to par.

Delicious, great atmosphere with live band. Loved having tablecloths, a great experience. I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to my friends.

One of the BEST restaurants in all of Oakdale… After eating there four times now… I can say its ‘really good’ just not worthy of a 5 star! Still a bit off with service… and food items, but for a small town, it’s pretty good!

We had a nice dinner here with very good service, but we wouldn’t rush back for the food. A note of warning: do NOT order the moussaka. The overwhelming flavor and texture of the nutmeg-​flavored chewy ground meat pellets with crunchy (!!) eggplant was horrifying. Everyone else liked their meals — gyro salad, chicken Marsala, though, so just stick to the safe bets. The chicken lemon soup was pretty good, although the chicken appeared to be canned. The pita bread was fresh and very soft and the side vegetables were fresh. I thought it was amusing that the oil and vinegar on the table were both labeled vinegar. Funny.

Friendly atmosphere and service, waitress was helpful, went on Sunday for a birthday luncheon (four people) and could not be happier! Next time I’ll try the bar looks inviting. P. s they have Stella on tap.

I had the seafood pasta. It was very good. and service was excellent! Definitely will be having dinner here again…

My favorite dish, the seafood salad wasn’t on the special menu today, but the very accommodating kitchen staff made it for me anyways! The service and atmosphere are just wonderful too.

We stopped in here to try a new place for lunch. The atmosphere looks nice, white tablecloths and linens, but the building looks very industrial with exposed ducting on the ceiling. We feel the food is overpriced for what is served. The gyro was flavourful, but sloppily put together. The staff is attentive, and the area is clean. Overall, the place isn’t stellar, but isn’t bad either.

Bad Experience.
My husband and I LOVE Papapavlos/​Papapolloni, the food, service, atmosphere is always great. This review is based on my experience this afternoon.
After pestering a coworker to try Papapolloni with me for lunch. She finally agreed to try it, and away we went. We left a bit early (arriving right at noon) to hopefully beat a lunch crowd. We succeeded as there was only 1 car in the parking lot. We were seated right away, and our server took our drink order upon seating. We ordered a hummus appetizer, which arrived in an expected amount of time, but our entrees did not arrive until we needed to walk out the door. It took 35 minutes to get 1 chicken pita and 1 shrimp avocado salad. Our server was wonderful about filling our pita bread for our hummus appetizer, and filling our drinks, but you could tell as he stood at the kitchen counter waiting for our food, that he too was frustrated with the hold up for 2 simple menu items. We didn’t see them boxing and wrapping up a ton of phone orders, so I’m not sure what happened with our order, but there wasn’t an explanation as to the delay. I had to catch the server’s attention and ask that whenever the food was ready, that it be boxed up to go so we wouldn’t be late getting back to work. Again, our server promptly brought us the check and quickly boxed the food as soon as it was ready.
As expected, the food was delicious; I’m just a bit frustrated that it had to be eaten back at our desks.
BOTTOM LINE: Definitely try Papapolloni and Papapavlos, just go during dinner time, or when you can take a long lunch.

Pastitio and gyro wrap were both good. Well executed. Excellent service. Solid find for this area.

Very good food. Ambience is nice. Warm pita bread was yummy. Buschetta was too garlicky for my taste but was still good. I had the Mediterranean stuffed chicken breast it was very tasty. My boyfriend had a veggie wrap and he LOVED it! Said it was the best he ever had

I’ve eaten there a minimum of once a week for many months. The food, I get food to go, is great IF YOU GET WHAT YOU ORDERED! My issue is that I don’t seem to get what I order regularly. IF Ever! I don’t eat meat which means my order should be rather easy to fill but I rarely get what I order.
Last night I ordered a menu item along with a side of rice. When I got my order I got the menu item less rice (part of the order) and a side of rice. Basically, I paid full price for my meal and extra for my rice. I’m done, never to return… Service is great with Juan but the rest can’t seem to get my order right. Can’t recommend.

First time at this location and was impressed by the presentation and great service. Good food and I love the outside patio. I shared the chicken pasta with my friend because it’s really large in size.
Gerrad our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgable. When in the area again I’ll make sure to stop by again.

The best way to describe this restaurant would be to show a picture of how I ended up puking my guts out after eating. Food was ok, service was less than stellar. It was an empty restaurant and the service was extremely slow. Good luck with your health if you eat here.

I really liked Papapolloni’s. I went there while driving through Oakdale and didn’t expect to find many quality restaurants, but the moment I saw it on Unilocal,I knew I had to try it out.
My gf and I started with the saganaki. Hadn’t had it in a while and it was great. Kind of annoying that they make a big show of it announcing to the whole restaurant they’re lighting cheese on fire. Just seems excessive and annoying to me. The saganaki wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was damn good. Would get it again.
Followed that up with a plate of gyros, plenty of food and the gyros was great. I liked that it wasn’t overly oily and came with plenty of other food on the plate. The pita was a bit firm so i couldn’t really create a pocket to stuff hummus, rice, gyros, etc.
Overall, great restaurant. I’d go back

Unfortunately I had a TERRIBLE experience today. I ordered clam chowder and it had quite a bit of sand in it. When I told the manager this, he told me the clams come cleaned already and sometimes that have sand and that there is nothing they can do about it. I call BS since the clams are chopped up. And if this wasn’t bad enough, they served my wife a plate of pasta with a metal screw in it (yes like home depot). My wife found it when she bit into some of the pasta and thank God, she didn’t get hurt.
I immediately grabbed the plate and took it to the kitchen, told one of the cooks, who told me it must have come from one of the pasta baskets. The manager said a similar thing. I was SO mad I was shaking. Needless to say, I will never return to this restaurant. And I don’t recommend you do so either. The manager apologized, but I felt like they wanted to make excuses first and THEN apologize.

It’s funny to read the reviews with the same issues that we had. You’d think the management would get with it.
On the way back from Yosemite. We figured we’d grab a bite and let the Unilocal ratings take us somewhere new.
Let me set the scene, it’s march. It’s cold out. And it’s colder inside. Not sure what the deal is. We tried to sit at the bar and were shivering in seconds. They have every fan on high. The A/​C might even be on. We asked them if they can turn the fans off… Nope. We find a warmer section of the place… Nope, can’t sit there they are closing that section. Back to the truck for our 3 day old campfire jackets and beanies. Bummer. Another couple walked in behind us, sat at the bar and also asked to have the fans turned off. Too bad we couldn’t make a fire in the middle of the restaurant. I bet the other couple would of joined us. No idea why they keep the place like a ice box.
Food was ok. It might of been good, but it arrived lukewarm, and was cold after the second bite. Super bummer guys.
The place has potential. Doesn’t seem like making it great is their goal though.
Might go back… If I remember a clean parka!

We were looking for a place to grab a late dinner on our way back from Yosemite and when Unilocal offered «Mediterranean» I couldn’t resist.
When I say it was late, it was LATE — we walked in about 45 minutes ’til close and were nearly the only customers there. Despite that fact, I would still rate the service as «excellent» — our waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering or pressuring us to get out quickly. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal at our own pace.
As some have mentioned, the table pita is FANTASTIC — we know it’s fresh because we had to wait for a batch to come out of the oven, but the wait was worth it. We ate the whole basket, no regrets. In fact, everything that we had was very good. Even the salads. I ordered the combination platter, which in hindsight probably wasn’t the best choice to make at the end of the night. The casseroles have to be made in batches, and since it was so late they weren’t the freshest (one of them was a little dry) but they were still tasty and hot; I can’t blame the kitchen for a fact of life. The veggies that came with were simply prepared but well done.
Honestly, I’m a little disappointed that we’re so far away and won’t be able to make it back again any time soon.
