Mountain Trail Lodge

On a hot drive out of Yosemite, we wanted a place with a sunny swimming pool, and out of town. This place was great, one story, friendly owners, and the only room available was the suite, which was huge. The suite has a full kitchen, fireplace, a/​c and a giant shower and four poster bed. This small place books out every night so book ahead, it it one of the less expensive places in town. All other smaller rooms have two queens.
Any hotel around Oakhurst will have road noise, but it dies off after dark. The pool felt great, and there was sun on it until almost 7 pm in May, so very nice for sunbathing while enjoying the valley view.

We were driving down from Yosemite and stumbled on this place along the highway. We had been checking online and in person as we came down the mountain, and had been amazed that everything seemed to be in the $ 175 to $ 275 price range.
The Mountain Trail Lodge had a room for $ 120 ($ 154 after taxes). The room was huge and had a full kitchen and a big airy bathroom. It looks like our unit had once been the living room/​kitchen and bathroom of a single family home. The inside doors that once led to the rest of the house (now two other units) were permanently sealed. There are a series of new bungalow units that the owners said were very nice as well.
The pool has a large deck around it, a nice bab for guests to use and comfy lounge chairs. It felt very nice to relax in the pool on a hot afternoon!
The owners are a very nice couple who were very responsive and helpful. Our unit was clean, huge and we’ll appointed. We would stay there again.

We have stayed her multiple times and have loved every stay! Prices are always good and the beds are comfortable! We found this place by chance one night super late and the owner was so sweet and helpful! When ever we stay in Oakhurst this is where we go!

We stayed here 2 nights in different rooms. Stayed in a double queen room one night, went to Yosemite and stayed, then stayed in the «bunk bed» room the last night. The first night was awesome– 5 stars. Room was nice, clean, beds were cozy, great view, GREAT rate. $ 60 for a Thursday. Then when we came back– the experience was… interesting. The room was pretty cool. A full bed on the bottom, a single on top, and then a loft to the side of the top with another full mattress. However, the bathroom smelled really weird for no apparent reason, there was an electrical socket extremely close to the shower where the water splashed on to it, and the walls were very thin– to where you could hear the people on the other side of the wall yelling. That experience was 3 stars– giving an average of 4. Really good rates, if you just want a place to crash it was perfect.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding we booked a room for the weekend. It was very clean and quiet. I will definitely stay there again if I’m in town.

The best at this hotel was the view. It overlooks the mountains and it was lovely to get up to in the morning.
We were on a roadtrip for three weeks and this was the most expensive hotel we satyed at and we were very dissapointed.
Nothing good to say about the rooms. The clerk was friendly but in the rush to close the door and go home.
They offered free wifi, but the internet did not work, so my son and daughter-​in-​law had to drive our car up to the office and sit in the cold car freezing in the middle of the night to be able to get internet. My son had an important online exam that he just could not miss.
So all in all, it was just an ok hotel, nothing else.

This place is clean and better than expected. We rented for our first family vacation to Yosemite. The location was perfect kind of loud at nights but can only be heard when you are out in the patio section. The place is small but very cozy and our kids loved it. The price was definitely great and they have a pool that is perfect for the summer trip. I would stay here again for the price. The only down fall is the wi-​fi is truly horrible as well as reception.

Needed a place close to Yosemite after spending the day there, and this was about 20 minutes from the South entrance, so we stayed for one night. The reviews make it sound like the Bates Motel, but this place is actually really nice inside… probably because it was just recently renovated. The beds and hardwood floor (new trend? I guess easier to clean than carpet) look really new, and I didn’t experience any bug issues. Rooms are tiny; five people in a two queen bed room means very little wiggle room, and opening the bathroom door all the way is nearly impossible. At least there’s a sofa pullout bed inside for your fifth body. The shower has no ledge to place your toiletries, so be prepared to either lean them on the adjacent sink for use or sitting them on the floor of the shower. The desk person was nice, but I had to retrieve her from one of the trailers behind the motel (perhaps staff live there?) when I went to try to check-​in. I guess she was on break. The Lodge has an ice machine, and you can park in front of whichever room you’re staying at. Nice view of the mountains in the back, which you can see from the front of your room (few chairs in front too). The manager even matched the Priceline price I was going to book with to encourage me to book directly through the motel so they wouldn’t have to pay a transaction fee. Overall, I’d be back if I was in the Yosemite area. Free WifI too.

Very delighted with the accommodations. Rustic and yet very clean and cozy. The view is great. Pool perfect for the hot weather. The room was very comfortable. The air conditioner cooled the room to a perfect temperature. The location is just right. I would go back just to hang out and enjoy the view in the morning with my husband. It was nice to have a cup of coffee together and look out at the valley below. The managers (maybe owners) were very nice. We wish them much success and thank them for such a great place to stay.

I must admit I was skeptic about staying here. I hate staying in hotels wether it’s Hampton or motel 6 (there’s no place like home or someone else home) I was anxious our whole drive here about the hotel. But as soon as I opened the door I was relieved these rooms have been upgraded, there must have been different owners before. This place is an awesome price for these gorgeous rooms. I would highly recommend staying here

We stayed at the Deer Haven Cabin, part of the Mountain Trail Lodge’s holdings. It was a gorgeous little loft cabin with two nice sized decks. We got in very late, so the owners let us check in via phone, and just had us stop by the next day at the lodge to sign the paperwork. For the price, this was far beyond what we expected. Comfortable beds, bright and airy, and very clean. When we stopped by the hotel area to check it, they had some maintenance on one of the roofs being done. Mid day, and it shows that they are committed to keeping the place in good order. The hotel has little cabin rooms with windows that overlook the foothills outside. The owner was very pleasant and helpful, and really wanted to make sure that everything was to our liking… if there is a problem, he wants to know so he can make it right. We will definitely be back to the Mountain Trail Lodge.

Clean and affordable. Friendly staff. Nice location. I’ve read the reviews, and can’t believe it’s the same place, they must have new management. I absolutely loved it and will return.

After reading other reviews about this inn, I was very skeptical about staying here. However, the price and location were alluring. Upon checking in, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was well maintained, clean and had a shower with plenty of hot water. Amenities in the room (heater, tv, fridge) were new and were just what we needed. I recommend this place and would stay again in an instant.

This «hotel» doesn’t earn any star. It’s more like indoor camping. Our «luck» was that we had a big room with kitchenette for a 200 $ per night. So we had enough place for all the four of us — we met another family in a such a tiny room that they had to keep all their luggage in the car!!!
A main issue are the sanitary installations: the shower in the bathroom was the cheapest and most broken thing I ever met, and there was no lavabo on the bathroom. You had to go to the kitchenette to clean your hands. Besides it wasn’t very clean at all.
However: I would go again but only for 30 $ per night for this room.

This was not only the worst hotel I’ve ever seen, but among the worst businesses of any type I’ve ever seen in my life.
The hotel, such as it was, was really a collection of small bungalows, and the one we were ushered into was absolutely wretched. The bed linens were musty and the room smelled awful. There was a gaping hole in one of the walls and the bathroom is the kind of place you’d see on television when police are searching a psycho’s apartment. The shower stall was really just a painted closet with a rusty pipe extending from that wall where water (presumably) would come out.
I strongly, strongly recommend staying literally anywhere else in the United States. This may be the most vile hotel in the country.

No, just no. Seriously the worst, dirtiest, most run down, and downright disgusting «hotel» I have ever seen. It was so bad we turned right around and left, happily driving another hour and a half to Merced to stay at the Hampton Inn. This place was awful — everything is dirty and broken. The rooms are actually small cabins that look like they haven’t ever been kept up or cleaned. Or that maybe would be an ideal place for a murder or kidnapping — it’s that bad. The bathroom was the size of a closet with a slow trickle of water coming out of rusty spout. The bed was awful — so uncomfortable with musty smelling linens. I was so busy leaving abruptly I didn’t snap any pictures but I wish I had. This place is not a hidden gem, it’s not a diamond in the rough, it’s horrible. One star is generous in my opinion. The price might seem right but it’s not worth it. Keep driving and don’t stop.

This place seems to be a diamond in the rough. There is not a lot of advertising, and I’m not surer if the place was completely booked, but it was a great place to stay the night and it’s very close to Yosemite. The lodge is located in a small town that provides all of the amenities that are required for a stay (food, gas, and coffee) and is about twenty minutes from the front gate of the Yosemite National Park. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, which the lady at the front desk said, though they are going to be renovated soon. The room was more of a cottage and was quiet and overlooked a nice scenery. There is also a pool available, though we did no use it. The lady at the front desk was very helpful in giving us the best room possible and also gave us some tips on what was best to do while in the park. This was a comfortable, comfy, and inexpensive place to stay the night and we will likely look for this place again when we decide to come back.
