Ugh… just disgusting. Probably the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. The meat was tough and the sides were out of a can. Even the cornbread was cold and slimy. Just so very unappetizing. Say as far away as possible.

my mother was very excited that a southern type restaurant had opened in her town as this town and neighboring town are the home of just chain restaurants. since i knew she was interested in going, i got a certificate on prior to coming in. each time my mom passed by the restaurant, she would tell me it was closed. she thought it possibly went out of business, but luckily, one evening while i was visiting my mom noticed it had an open sign in the window so we hurried over. we entered the restaurant and no lie it looked like a mixture of mcdonalds and boston market combined. this was not the type of environment i expected when i told my mom we would go out to dinner. we asked the man behind the counter if we could use the coupon towards takeout instead. Luckily, the man didn’t care. he then began to tell us all the things they were out of: bread(as in all bread, no rolls or buns or anything for sandwhiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. which appears to be their entire menu), no cole slaw, and then a few other things that i can’t even remember. we agreed to get pulled pork as a platter rather than a sandwich. i assumed it would still be cooked the same way as advertised with bbq sauce. oh no, once we got home with out take out, we discovered it was dry of all sauce but appeared to have a bucket of pepper dumped on it bc it was so spicy i could not eat more than 1 bite. we also got some fries, yams, and fried chicken, which was OK but i feel like it could be had at any other southern restaurant as well. the worst part was that the man behind the counter explained that he hasn’t been getting paid by the owners and that the owners appear to have gone missing and are being investigated. it was 6:45 pm when we exited the restaurant, and the employee was already shutting down the restaurant for the nite. guess this is the end of southern food in ocean township, although based on the taste of the food, i can’t even be too disappointed

I had a very positive experience. The staff was warm, friendly and inviting. Everyone spoke to our party. The collard greens were the best I’ve ever had as it was very flavorful. The dirty rice was delicious. It tasted fresh, the onions and celery were crunchy. My fried chicken was juicy and very tasty. I left feeling good about my experience and despite the fried food I didn’t feel heavy at all. I felt the love in the food and was just the perfect meal for a cold and rainy night. Can’t wait to bring friends and family here and taste the rest of the menu.

They have 3 entrée choices;sandwiches, salads or burgers. Today they were out of burgers. I ordered wings but they never arrived. We had to ask for silverware and napkins after our food was served. My dry pulled pork sandwich presentation consisted of a warm, not hot, pork mixture in an old crumbling roll with a slice of cold yellow cheese. Good news — the soda was cold and served with ice. Never, ever, ever…
