Just left this restaurant and I’m highly disappointed that is not real BBQ. Came here only because Tom Jenkins was closed. Ordered a slab of ribs a large Mac-n-Cheese and baked beans. First off, their large is more like a small, and their Mac-n-cheese taste like box macaroni and cheese and left it in a pot for hours. This side dish was cold and sticky and had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever yuck! Also the ribs we ordered were two different types and one was okay, then after trying the second batch they looked and tasted fatty and undercooked signed one unsatisfied customer.

Was on my way to a bbq and had to bring some sides. I went to Jacks and was told they didn’t have enough food so I went to Dixie Pig. I got beans and corn bread and everyone at the bbq LOVEDIT! The corn bread was the big hit of the night. Great service and great food. I will go back to try the rest of the menu.

I’m finally feeling well enough to sit up and write this review. We’ve lived in Oakland Park just over a year and have driven past Dixie Pig countless times. We finally went to try it last night — my husband and I, and his parents. We ordered a little bit of everything to sample — beef, pulled pork, ribs and rib tips as well as an array of sides. The meat was inedible. It tasted like it was boiled in water, or something, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. You also couldn’t tell the difference, visually or by taste, between the pork and the beef. It was all gray and awful. I will say, the bbq sauces were pretty good, but the amount that I would have had to use to get more of the horrible meat down was just not worth it. Oh, and the fries were good. That’s not even all. We ate there around 7pm last night and I am STILLSICK from it. I was finally able to leave work and return to the comfort of my own home after multiple hour long stints in the bathroom with the WORST upset stomach. Come to find out, my mother in law had a similar experience this morning. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but alas… we will never be back.

I’ve been coming here for 25 years and the last few times, I have been very disappointed with my meal. Last time… I couldn’t finish it the chicken sandwich… it was burnt and dry. Was always my goto place before… ;-(Good steak fries ;-)

This was my first visit; the beans came from a can, the chopped brisket was tasteless and mushy. The coleslaw was good at least.

Absolute GARBAGE«FOOD» that Cannot be remotely classified as BBQ. I do not know why this place is still in business nor why they have 4 stars on Unilocal .The chopped Chicken sandwich wasn’t even suited for my dogs consumption and the cole slaw was a vinegary tasteless mess ! .The sauce/condiments are left outdoors year-round and you know what that means with the Florida heat. Keep driving on Dixie– there are plenty of better places just up the road !!!

A pretty decent BBQ joint. I wasn’t blown away, but the prices fell on the side of affordable and that’s worth a star. Plenty of sauces representing numerous regions. The platter is a good way to go for under $ 10 with the option of chicken, pork, or beef, or a bit of each. Plenty of included sides to choose from, however, a few of them come with an extra charge. All-in-all, I’d say it’s a decent place to grab some BBQ for most people. However, some BBQ«aficionados» might find it lacking.

This place is just ok. The mac n cheese is kind of gross but I ordered it for the kids and they loved it lol. I had the ribs and they were kind of like ribs someone would like grill out in their backyard. They had a really good sauce tho, I put it all over and it vastly improved the meal. My hubby had the sausage and I thought that was pretty good. There is only outdoor seating.

I liked Dixie Pig quite a lot, but on the whole it’s short of «four star» territory for me. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and had the mac and cheese. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent and is four stars in my mind. The bun was soft but still held up to the pork(and the tons of sauce I slathered all over the sandwich). The pork had good flavor standing alone. And it was great with the addition of the sauces. I thought the best was the«gold» sauce, though I was also happy with the bites I tried with the sweet sauce and the vinegar sauce. It’s my disappointment with the mac and cheese that keeps my review from being four stars. It was worse than average — quite bland and gave me a generic, ‘from the box’ vibe. This is not to say it’s terrible, but its a subpar side.

Driving down 95& found on Unilocal the local bbq joint. We ordered just the pulled pork which were delicious along with the Hushpuppies. A outdoor place but kept cool by the fans even at 1 pm very clean even the restrooms were spotless and friendly service Would highly recommend if you are looking for good BBQ and no hype

I love Dixie Pig and have been coming here for years! This place isn’t known for décor, but I love it because the food is consistent, excellent and in large portions. They have un-sweet iced tea which is great since I try to watch my sugar intake, and they also have a nice array of BBQ sauce choices. If you go there, please try the pulled pork and use the Carolina ‘Treat’ sauce. Platters come with 2 sides and hushpuppies. The cole slaw is excellent and vinegar based as opposed to other places where you will typically find slaw drowning in a milky puddle of mayo/salad cream. The beans and collard greens are excellent! I often bring my umbrella cockatoo there and he loves the pulled pork as well. They’re at the corner of Dixie and Floranada.

The gold sauce is certainly the star of the show here. Make sure you try it if you visit. Perhaps I made a mistake by not ordering the pulled pork since that seems to be their specialty, but I wasn’t in the mood for it when we stopped by. I ended up getting the smoked sausage with peppers and onions added and onion rings as my side. Also had some of their rib tips, tried their ribs, and had several bites of the mac and cheese. The rib tips were tasty, but I didn’t like that they came pre-sauced. I would rather sauce them myself. The smoked sausage had a pretty good flavor to it, but it was on the tiny side and only took up about 60−70% of the bun it occupied. The onion rings were pretty standard and I felt like the mac and cheese was on the dry side and a little lacking in flavor. The ambiance and service were quite good in my opinion. Not terrible by any stretch, but fairly average BBQ.

Amazing bbq! So good. Closest thing to southern bbq you will find in South Florida. Great Brunswick stew and great outside environment. It was prepared quickly and was hot. Coleslaw was good and sweet tea was on point. Will tell all our friends and family that this is the spot to come to when they are in town from GA!!!

I’m a fan of the North Carolina BBQ style over any other and this little BBQ drive in is an authentic as it gets. The pork is tender and juicy. The buns are perfect. The servings are generous and the BBQ sauces are terrific. The counter help is warm and welcoming. Even the ice tea is better than most! One of my South Florida favorite spots!

I have driven by the Dixie Pig hundreds of times since I moved to south Florida many years ago. First time finally trying it. Stopped here on a late Saturday afternoon. Easy parking and walk right up to the counter. I only had a pork sandwich to go, no sides, so my review is limited. The sandwich was huge, the bun soft(but not falling apart) and the tangy sauce good(a bit sour and a bit sweet). So, I am sorry I waited so long to try it, but I will be back again and try some of the other stuff.

Going through the BBQ train this place has yet again downcast us probably being one of the worse BBQ experiences we have had. The service, the food, and atmosphere is just not here– THEATMOSPHERE: Pulling up to a roadside BBQ joint and snagging the last parking spot we thought we are in for a real treat. There is a rustic feel with outside bathrooms and patio-table seating. The majority of the tables are under a roof with open air walls which we went on a day that was bustling windy and cold so the«plastic walls» were down but didn’t help much. This place looks down home and like nothing special that usually results in the best food you have had. This was far from the experience we hoped for. THESERVICE: Their menu is taped up to their walk up window with no smaller menus to take a closer look at(found them afterwards). So we ordered our usual with an extra side of chili since it was so cold. Our order was taken then we waited… And waited… The service is lacking or there as none existent except to place your order. Our order seemed to go to a couple that arrived after us as an employee walked by and asked why we didn’t have our food yet. Since this happened there was no kind of apology, it was just overlooked. THEFOOD: So now our food is finally here and we get up to get a couple of sauces and started to eat. Not to our surprise no Chili was ever brought out or even actually ordered. I received the Rib Basket which is a bit confusing since the«Rib Basket» only includes five ribs. Therefore I also ordered a small side of Mac n Cheese. My meal was a complete fail. The Ribs were SOO fatty with so little meat on them and the Mac n Cheese was overly dry tasting like it was sitting out in a heat tray for a couple of hours. My husband ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich that comes with Fries, Coleslaw, and a Pickle! Now that’s a meal. if it would of turned out good. The meat was dry with no seasoning or flavor. Pulled Pork with no flavor??? What! Nothing was fresh and with the wind conditions all we wanted to do was get out of there. A total waste.

Came on a Sunday and the guy serving, which i believe was then owner was super amiable. Food was really good. Ordered the pulled beef and pork from the family pack. The price for he quality and even the quantity is good. The slaw is mayo-free which feels less heavy than the traditional. The sauces are another high point of this place. Great NC(treet) and mustard bbq sauce.

It boggles my mind what some people consider good BBQ. Dixie pig was definitely not it. I discovered this place during a drive around town and decided to give it a try. I ordered the rib tips and ¼ chicken special with two sides. The rib tips tasted smokey and the chicken tastes super Bland. It was obviously not marinated. Juat precooked and then grilled with the BBQ sauce for charred effect. The sides — fries and cole slaw also mediocre. The corn bread tastes like jiffys. Next time I want BBQ. I am going to drive the extra few miles Two stars because the service was decent.
