Granny’s is hidden away out of character with its surroundings somewhat ramshackled hole in the wall of a place but clean and totally loaded with a certain neighborhood charm you can’t help but love. It’s been here for 30 years and is owned by a granny, Judy, who is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. And if you want to hear a little history of the area or some of the area restaurants, Granny knows it all, but don’t ask her for her secret recipe preparation for prime rib because she won’t tell you. Since I’m a couple of years older than Granny, have yet to have had her prime rib, I may have the basics figured out, but like her, I also won’t be telling. When you walk into Granny’s you’re immediately taken by how small it is, but nicely set up in what I might best term as being a «neighborhood style.» There is a pool table, a bar area, a board listing Granny’s daily snacks with things like wings, Granny’s ‘tato skins, sloppy Joe’s, cube steak subs and a dinner plates such as pork chops all at more than reasonable prices. Though I haven’t tried any of Granny’s food, the neighborhood patrons rave about it, especially when she prepares it on her outside patio smoker grill. Indeed, it’s given me something to look forward to enjoying. I happen to be a guy who loves neighborhood bars as they are the friendliest of places and the patrons I met while at Granny’s were amongst the best. So if you are looking for a nice friendly out of the way hidden little neighborhood bar with the friendliest of people without any gimmicks exaggerated hype, Granny’s can’t be beat.
