Easy, breezy. The improvement was highly anticipated, and worth the wait. Transition was very easy and the trains arrive very quickly. Being a frequent traveler, I’m stoked!

Love the new AirBART train to the Oakland airport. Clean, fast and so far, reliable. While the rest of BART was experiencing delays, this connection arrived just as advertised. Made my flight with minutes to spare. Not a lot of seats but OK for the short 8 minute ride and lots of space for everyone’s luggage. At $ 6 one way, it is expensive but you pay for the convenience.

Simple. The previous way to the airport was a pain and this new people mover or tram is so easy to use. A little pricey sure… but still cheaper than a cab. We purchased our tix when we got our bart tix and do round trip. Planning the right time to travel is important since BART is popular for commuters. Thus is the easiest way to get to and from BART and the airport. Now friends and family don’t have to take or get you to the airport just to BART.

Easy to find from the OAK airport. Very clean and new cabins. I heard people didn’t know about the cost but I think it was added to the price list on the BART machines. (Wish it stopped at In-N-Out…hate driving right over it, haha.)

Even though this Unilocal thread says «AirBART», AirBART does not exist anymore.
I’ve never ridden it when it was officially open. I rode it during the free day prior to it’s officially opening on the friday following Thanksgiving of 2014. It was fun, quick, clean, efficient, and smooth as glass.
But in spite of that, I still think it is a waste of millions of dollars to build, because the bus connections were just fine, IMO. If you took AirBART (the BART shuttle bus), it was $ 3.00. If you took AC Transit the #73 from the Colosseum Station, it’s only $ 2.00 (or $ 2.10 if paying cash). Both get you there in a reasonable amount of time. But if you take this new BART shuttle, it’s a minimum of $ 6.one way. Sometimes more, depending on time of day. So if you are travelling with several people, say a family of 4, that adds up.

Pretty easy to navigate, you exit the airport and cross the street. It only had one direction and stop so it’s hard to get lost. Yay.

I like to start by saying I am not from the Bay Area. I was told by a few friends that the best way to get around is via the BART. I flew into Oakland International Airport and saw the AirBART station. Honestly, the process of getting onto BART was very simple. Without having to talk to anyone I was able to go straight from the airport to the Coliseum station, and from there the rest of the Bay Area. This station seemed cleaner then most of the other BART Station, but that might be because it is outdoor. Overall, It was very convinent for a tourist visiting town.

I had some reservations about taking the new, um, «peoplemover» (that’s what Disneyland called it) from OAK to the Coliseum station. $ 6??? It was $ 2 to take the bus. My reservations went away once I took it.
AirBART was less than a year old when I used it, so naturally it looked and smelled brand spankin’ new. Not a lot of seats, but if there was, then we’d have luggage problems. The tracks are up in the air, so no traffic light worries anymore.
When you compare other options — parking at the airport, parking on Doolittle or Hegenberger, taking a shuttle — this is likely to be as cost-​effective as it is convenient. But do examine your options if you have a family.
A good add to the BART system.

This new rail is convenient, but a complete friggin rip off! $ 12 dollars people, for a round trip between OAK and the Colosseum Station. Absolutely amazing! 100% increase in fair over the old bus. And the run times are only approximately 4 minutes faster to and from and the frequency of the train is no better than the old busses. I feel like a total chump riding this thing. Gotta love local and state governments and how they completely tube the public on crap like this light rail deal. Not a fan.

The contrast between the futuristic concrete structures and the palm and maple trees delights the eyes. Thank you BART !

I put off riding the AirBART connector train forever, just assuming it would be crazy complicated like the old bus system (remember that madness?). How wrong I was! AirBART is not only super simple to use, it’s almost luxurious. The trains and station are super new, clean, and spacious. It’ll get you from Coliseum BART to OAK airport in about 8 mins, and the trains run every 5 minutes during prime time (8am-​8pm).
Here’s how it works:
— Simply exit Coliseum/​Airport BART station
— Follow signs to AirBART
— Use your BART ticket or Clipper card to enter the AirBART station
— Hop on the tiny train and cruise to the terminal!
I used to take Über to OAK because the BART-​to-​Bus situation was super whack. But now it’s streamlined, making BART to OAK just as easy as riding to SFO. Go Oakland!

I agree with most of the reviews. Everything about it is good except the cost.
$ 6… REALLY? Its not $ 6 unless your dropped off at Oakland Bart, it was $ 8.10 from Hayward and I still need to get a ride or walk or bus to the Hayward Bart.
If you are traveling as a family with 4 at the $ 8.10 rate, now its $ 32.40…Long term parking, a taxi, or car share can be cheaper.

Totally awesome and quick way to get to Oakland Airport from BART. Huge improvement over the bus service that was previously available. Love love love!

$ 6 is better than walking and cheaper than a Lyft to the airport! But not if you have 3 ppl. Haha

I’ve never had to wait for a shuttle, which makes this a pretty convenient way to get from BART to Oakland airport. I’ve been lucky to have exact change every time too.
On our last trip I put all the bills in at once ($ 6 total for my husband’s and me), not realizing they’re to be inserted one at a time. The driver was displeased. I’ve actually never had a driver that I thought was very friendly.
If I drove a shuttle I’d make people high-​five me as they boarded.

I’ve taken the BART before but this is the first time I made the decision to fly into SF (Oakland Airport, to be precise) and travel to my hotel at the Embarcadero without a car for the trip. I was really pleasantly surprised to find out how easy the ground transportation was.
After you get off the plane in OAK, you find the AirBART shuttle, which takes you to the BART station at the Oakland Coliseum. The AirBART shuttle tickets are $ 3/​person and tickets can be purchased in advance but if you pay then and there, you’ll need $ 3 in exact change. The ride took 12 minutes and was very easy. Once you arrive at the Oakland Coliseum, you can get on the BART to wherever you need to go. I was only about 4 – 5 stops away from my hotel so the whole trip from Airport to Hotel was about 1 hour.
Multiple people warned me that the Oakland area where I’d make the transfer from AirBART shuttle to BART is sketchy. It was doing this commute from about 1 – 3 pm so I had no issues whatsoever but I did want to point out that some people seriously would have had apprehensions about me potentially doing this alone and at night.

It’s fine. It’s a bus that takes you from the Coliseum/​Airport BART station to the actual OAK airport. There are a few things, though, that you should know before you go:
1) As of this review, it costs $ 3.
2) You need exact change/​exact amount on your BART card. No change is given.
3) It’s a short enough ride (about 15 mins) but adds another layer of unknown to your airport travel day. Plan on at least 30 mins for you to arrive at the station, get off the train, get a new $ 3 card, wait for the bus, and ride to the airport. At least 30 mins.
Other than that, my bus was quick, tidy, pretty new, and nothing weird happened. Airport riders are (usually) mostly normal.

It gets the job done!
I rather fly out of the Oakland airport and take the AirBart then take the Bart all the way to SFO. Especially if you are coming from the East Bay. It’s cheaper.
Anyways, everything worked great. Got off the BART and followed the signs to AirBART and there it was, right outside. There was a line formed but it moved pretty quickly. AirBART takes cash ($ 3) or a BART ticket. No clipper card. Seats are pretty close together but they have an area dedicated for luggage. Driver was really nice too.
Time from the BART station to the terminals was about 12 minutes. It’s great. I love that the signs for the AirBART are placed everywhere. I didn’t have to go searching for it.
Very convenient if you are fly out of Oakland Airport!

The BART is going to connect to the Oakland Airport! But until then, AirBART is $ 3 to connect to the BART and it takes about 12 minutes.
AirBART schedule:
Monday — Saturday
5:00 am to 6:00 am every 20 minutes
6:00 am to 12:00 midnight every 10 minutes
Sunday
8:00 am to 12:00 midnight every 10 minutes

This was my first time in the bay area without a car. I flew into OAK and decided to try out their BART system. The AirBART shuttle was quick and easy to locate right out of the door after baggage claim.
There is a machine located steps in front of the pick up to purchase your $ 3 ticket or you may pay cash (exact change only) on the shuttle bus.
The shuttle picks up on the middle curb at A3 I believe.
The line was very short when I hopped on but it sure did FILL up FAST. We were at maximum capacity but I was able to get a seat up front and slide my luggage under my seat.
The trip to the Coliseum station takes 12 minutes and drops you right at the entrance.
I’d surely use this form of transportation in the future — it’s 7x less than a cab into San Fran.
