Amazon watch is a nonprofit organization fighting to save the Amazon rain forest and those that live there. I volunteer in Ecuador. See my profile pictures! My father was orphaned in Ecuador and adopted by an American contractor in the 60’s. Amazon Watch and the work that Amazon watch does is very personal to me. Ecuador’s Amazon echos with the sound of sorrow. Oil companies raped and pillaged what was once paradise. The death toll is very sad. The whole story would make the strongest heart break. You can get a small glimpse of the heartache by watching the documentary«Crude». But after you watch it, you may turn to the Internet to validate the authenticity. You will read a variety of sponsored ads from companies like Chevron that claim to be «the truth». If that makes you mad? You might do what I did and buy a ticket to Ecuador to see for yourself and lend a hand. What I can tell you with absolute certainty is that the press campaign headed by Chevron to undermine the public opinion and the victims in Ecuador is deplorable, despicable and down right wrong. I’ve met witnesses of Chevron’s 700 billion gallon disaster in the Ecuadorian rain forest(30 times larger than the Exxon Valdez) in areas never operated by Ecuador’s government owned petro Ecuador. I met the orphans made by the toxic wasteland once known as the Amazon rain forest. To blame the 60% favored president of Ecuador or Pablo Fajardo,(see profile crush) the Goldman award-winning lawyer on the case is despicable. These men are likely to win the Nobel prize in my opinion. To blame the country and the dying people like the orphans who are just hanging on? There are no words. Genocide. The Sasha Sur tribe has less than 200 survivors where once were 15 thousand and growing. They are being annihilated. The survivors will use their dying breath to say the name of whom they believe is solely responsible for their murder. But who will listen? This cause is my cause. I know that there are so many causes to choose from and I hate to pick favorites. Don’t worry, I’m still on board for the rest of them too ;-) My hopes are hopes are for those who have lost all hope. Live long enough to tell your story. Silence and censorship gag the untold stories about the unmarked graves. «It never happened» Can be the most painful words in the universe. You can lend a hand to Amazon Watch and the other nonprofits fighting to save the rain forest without spending a dime. Speak out on the web. Put your opinions in a blog. Take a toxic tour of the Amazon region with Amazon Watch and talk about it. Companies like Chevron use social media websites to advertise in nefarious ways. Fight back. To Amazon watch and all of the other charities that are fighting to save the rain forest, count me in. I have the loudest voice, was made for carrying a picket sign, can play a mean guitar, write a hell of a song and take can take a hell of a beating. I wrote a song to benefit the orphans in Ecuador called«You are the world to me» *See profile for a listen Peace :-) Afterthought. I stopped by Amazon watch to volunteer and they have moved. I’ll update you with pictures and progress soon. New contact info: 221 Pine St., Suite 400, San Francisco, CA94104 Tel: 415−487−9600 Fax: 415−487−9601
