Fantastic work/outcomes, reasonable prices, and exceptional customer service. When I moved to San Francisco, I was devastated when my grandmother’s small marble pedestal broke. The movers offered to have one of their pre-selected companies repair it, but they all had horrible reviews. So I searched high and low for a marble fabricator who would be willing to accept a small job like this and who would treat this piece with love and care. I called over a dozen companies. Some were only marble sellers(i.e., not fabricators) and others were unwilling to take such a small job. Others were willing to do it but after speaking with them more, I realized they didn’t specialize in marble and were proposing to use materials that wouldn’t work on the stone I have. Finally, I found Baker Marble + Granite. Letham is the owner and spoke with me directly. He listened carefully and patiently to everything I had to say about the outcome I wanted(wanted to be able to use the pedestal again so it needed to be able to hold weight, wanted it to be fixed in a visually appealing way so that the piece didn’t look«repaired,» etc.). He reviewed the pictures I sent him and could tell about the stone off the top of his head — type of marble, where it came from, what this meant for working with the stone, etc. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable he is. He said he’d be happy to fix the pedestal and said he could do it in about 2 – 3 hours and would charge me about $ 200. I brought the pedestal into his workshop in Oakland and he pointed out that when the pedestal broke, it also became bent and was off center. He further pointed out that there were some water stains on the table top portion. He offered to fix these problems while also reattaching the table top — at no extra charge. I was very touched at this and gladly accepted. My pedestal was repaired and ready about a week later. When I picked it up, it was straight, centered, and the table top had been reattached so that you couldn’t tell it had ever broken. It took a bit more time than Letham had originally quoted but he offered to hold to his $ 200 estimate, which I really appreciated. I am extremely satisfied with every aspect of my experience with Baker! This pedestal has a lot of sentimental value along with being an expensive piece and Baker did a wonderful job!

Baker Marble & Granite was recommended to us by the stone yard where we purchased our granite waaay back in 1999! That was before granite became ‘the thing’ for countertops. Baker is a wonderful outfit. There is a whole lot more to granite/marble fabrication and installation than meets the eye. Our kitchen granite has a wash of veins and mineral tones that swirl through it. Rather than just chopping it up to fit, Baker designed the fabrication cuts to emphasize and follow the flow of the colors and streaks throughout the countertops; they are amazing. We were also able to find a small remnant of marble that fit our bathroom vanity perfectly. So happy to hear these guys are still producing such fine craftsmanship. Professional. Attention to detail.

I cannot say enough nice things about Baker Marble products and service. After I did some shopping around, my contractor recommended Baker, and I am SO glad I took his advice. Latham talked with me about what I wanted, recommended some things, and took me to the back to show me the slabs. I fell in love with one, and we proceeded to generally figure out how to carve it into the pieces I needed. He invited me to come back and look at it for tile and paint color matching, and to make final decisions about the cuts. I did both, and brought my husband to look at the quartzite slab that would be in his bathroom. I’ve met and worked with several people from the Baker ensemble, and they have been professional, kind, and very detail oriented — every one of them. Each of these folks does his or her job very well and produces a fantastic outcome for the customer. My husband and I love our new bathroom; one of the reasons it is so beautiful is that the amazing stone was cut and installed to perfection. Thanks so much to everyone at Baker!

I had a couple of very extensive conversations with Latham at Baker Marble and Granite about my kitchen remodel and the challenge of getting countertops that I actually liked and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Latham gave a lot of good and thoughtful advice and I was polite and personable in the process. In the end I decided to go a more eco-friendly route than stone, but I was very impressed with the amount of time he spent with me and how super-helpful he was. And the price quote he gave me for the job seemed pretty reasonable. Seems like a great place.

Highest quality workmanship and professionalism. I was 110% satisfied in all parts of my project. At first I thought I was going to pay to much for a quality job, but by the time they finished, I felt like I got a great deal and did not over pay.
