Sorry guys, this was just bad. Came in with about 90 minutes until work. my black coffee took maybe 10 minutes to come out and It took asking two times for the hot chocolate to come out after 20 min. Then I was waiting on my breakfast burrito. Eggs cheese salsa potatos, maybe one other ingredient and it took 50MINUTES. UNACCEPTABLE. I had to get it to go and it took 10MOREMINUTESTOCOMEOUTWITHFOIL!!! what were you doing with it?! I ate it on my way to work and it was fine. The potatoes were WAY to big and the salsa was a generic puddle. Im only happy it didnt make me sick. I have been a cook in a few places and no dish that simple should ever take that much time. The prices are fine if you nothing else to do. The thing is; they were so kind and about half an hour in and a few times of asking for our stuff they got a clue and became very attentive. So I feel a little bad… I understand that they have limited space so designating a small hotplate to quick dishes like eggs should have been one of the fist things out of the gate, and everyone par cooks potatoes… I just have no clue why it took so long. All that time with a very mediocre product. Ill go back and give it another shot, if nothing changes then I fear they will lose the crowd. Not recommended for those that come in hungry.

I love the feel of this place — very mom & pop. I like their tri-tip sandwich and the hot link sandwich. Jennifer is very warm hearted and always has a smile. One day I went during the summer and two young men(I believe they were her grandkids) were helping her out and it was nice to see them all working together. The only«con» about this place is the wait time for your food. I recommend this place.

Literally the worst restaurant I’ve been to in years. And I just returned from Asia eating at street stalls! Arrived at 9:45. Less than 10 people in the restaurant. Finally ordered at 10:20. Sat down and didn’t get a coffee until 10:50. Then 10 minutes later a glass of water. So now I’ve been there an hour and no food and only 8 people there. I can’t stop laughing because it is now so absurd. My daughter finally gets her scrambled eggs. We waited over an hour for freaking 2 scrambled eggs! Thankfully I get a couple of bites. Only after she is done I receive my «eggs Benedict». It was the most disgusting plate of food I’ve ever seen. Ice cold. An unrecognizable sauce resembling formally frozen lard, in clumps, and it all sitting in about a quarter inch of grease. I stood up and left. $ 28 flushed down the toilet.

My brother was in from out of town and we weren’t sure where to go when we came across Café Lizzi. Seriously everything was super fresh and delish. Love the art work and enjoyed ourselves. Will be sending all the neighbors here and will be back for more!

I really enjoyed my breakfast this morning here. I got the biscuit slider, which was scrambled eggs on a biscuit. My friend had the breakfast burrito. We both enjoyed the food & the friendly service. The wait was not long at all. I will definitely be back to get another fluffy biscuit.

The place is fresh and scratch made. That being said its not super fast but dang is it wonderful. The biscuits were soft and fluffy, great flavor and texture. A must get. The waffle was great as well. Eggs were fresh and not a pre mix like some places . Bacon was thick cut and crispy need I say more?!? All of it was well seasoned and cooked perfect. The coffee was great strong and they also had a great clean restroom.

The sweetest folks run this place. Mom and Pop vibe. I can be a bear if I have to wait too long for food, so had concerns reading other reviews. But I liked the friendly energy here and decided to give them a try. Breakfast was cooked to order and I got it 10 minutes after ordering. I decided to get a lunch sandwich to go, and in 10 more minutes I received it. Standard diner food. Out the door fed and with lunch in hand in a half hour. They weren’t busy so ymmv. Take a deep breath, give em a minute, relax. I’m def coming back.

I came back here recently and had one of the most jarring restaurant experiences of my life. My buddy and I ordered a tri tip sandwich and the veggie scramble, respectively, and it took 1 and a half hours, I kid you not, for our food to come. It was surreal. Maybe it was just a real bad day for the restaurant but they had one cool leisurely taking care of one meal at a time, and they weren’t even bringing customers coffee to them because they were forgetting orders. Every time the kitchen door opened it was just the server with more water and every 15 minutes a burrito came out. It took them an hour to even start on our food and that was a big fail too, because the eggs were cooked before the tri tip, so they were cold by the time the tri tip was done. And they forgot my biscuit that I ordered. I should have left but wanted to stick it out because the staff seemed charming, but no charm is worth waiting 1.5 hrs for cold eggs and no biscuit.

Don’t go there unless u want to wait over an hour for your food then get told u never ordered it. I’m still sitting waiting on my friend’s food as I write this because they lost his order but don’t get me wrong, the orders they didn’t lose took just as long. I wrote the above when I was pretty annoyed, but it is true. In their defense, we were told they were busy and apologized to/told the normal cook called out. However, this was after we had already ordered, paid, and waited a good a half an hour. If you run a small place and are going to keep people waiting that long for what u would expect to get in like 15 or 20 mins — tell them up front before they order so they can make a conscious choice. And *especially* don’t accuse people of making up that they never received their order! I doubt anyone is in the business of waiting an hour for food they didn’t pay for. Insulting.

I really like this place. I love that’s it’s literally a mom and pop place w/their old wedding and life together photos on the wall. The food was delicious and they are soon sweet and welcoming. Just a chill no fuss place with great breakfast food.

A wonderful gentleman made us(Dawg & Me) feel very welcomed even though we only ordered coffee to sip at an outside table. Menu looks lovely, I’ll come back for lunch!

Nice and friendly owner, but don’t even bother coming during lunch if you work in the area. You’ll end up walking back to work starving. They take way too long go make half a sandwich and soup. Took them 40 minutes to make mine. The owner didn’t make it any better by pointing at the previous customer and said to me «she waited for an hour, thats why i had to help her first.» Lol. Food is just mediocre.

We were at JL Square for an event for our son. We had 4 hours to kill, so we stayed in area. I Sid like the menues at the first few places we saw., so I Unilocaled and found Ms Lizzy. We saw it was slow from the reviews, but again we had time to kill. So, yeah, not the swiftest place, but the food was so worth it. Older couple, home-made to order — think grandmom’s kitchen. We sat back and chilled while we waited for our food. Not sure how long we waited, because we were both doing other things — me on my Kindle and DH on his email. But when the food came … Hubby had eggs Benedict, I had the French toast with eggs and chicken sausage. My. food came with fresh strawberries sliced over the French toast. Not too sweet, and soft but not soggy. After I took my first bite, I did the happy eating woman dance, AND took a pic(never did that before). Perfectly cooked, and just damn good. By the time I looked up from my food to see if DH liked his, his food was half gone. Needless to say, both of us enjoyed it. So yeah, its slow — but if you expect to wait it should not be an issue. We will so be back –with our boys.

Food was OK but it was just insanely slow. I can’t imagine going there if there was any crowd at all. It wasn’t normal slow, it was aggressively slow. I was watching them prep and cook and any thing that would, at home, take a moment(ie dishing out cooked eggs from a pan) would take them minutes. I get that its locally owned but at some point, it went from being charming to frustrating.

Yes, Café Lizzi is a Mom and Pops Café and Yes, there are good reviews on Unilocal which is why we were excited to eat here. But when we had to wait 1HOUR for 2SIMPLEBREAKFASTITEMS on a SLOWSUNDAY… Well there’s a problem! Especially if it takes them 30 – 45 minutes alone to give our table some H20 on this hot summer day! I ordered the Vanilla Cinnamon French toast and my husband ordered the tri-tip omelette(see pictures). As you can see nothing special, 2 slices of French bread which I demolished in less than 1 minute. Nothing special, it tasted like a regular French toast meal at Denny’s, not even a hint of vanilla or cinnamon in them so they shouldn’t call it that. My husbands tri-tip omelette was way overpriced for what was served to him. It was basically scrambled eggs mixed with tough meat and whatever else. $ 10.95 for that?! I could’ve stayed home and made that for my family! After I inhaled my French toast, I also had to remind them that I had ordered sides of eggs and bacon too. They pretended like they knew and brought them out to me but I wasn’t impressed. This little café wasn’t even full, there were several empty tables and no one was in a hurry to get orders out so we couldn’t understand the hold up! They move like M O L A S S E S!!! I literally wanted to rip my hair out and I’ve come to be a pretty patient gal in my opinion(well my hubby might say otherwise! Meh!). The couple before us waited for over an hour for 1 breakfast burrito and 1 scrambled egg sandwich!!! No really? A burrito and sandwich? Lord haaaaaaa meeerrrccccy! We conversed with the patient couple and they were just as upset and starving as we were. To top it all off… Some regulars that ordered after us were SERVEDBEFOREUS!!! Yeah, that is never ok. Café Lizzi’s service or lack thereof STRONGLY overshadows their food and it’s potential to be a pretty good café. My suggestion: Order ahead so they have time to cook at their pace AKA order 3 weeks ahead for some scrambled eggs –_–

It’s a cute little mom and pop’s place. If you’re looking for some comfort food, I think this place will do. I work nearby and like to come here often to get breakfast. It’s usually a good start to my morning. The price is not like the deli across the street, but you can tell the difference in quality. I can never get tired of their sandwiches. It’s just so tasty! I would come more often if they don’t always move at a glacial pace. I’ve come during different times of the day and it usually takes at least 20 – 50 minutes to get your food, whether it is take out or eating in. For a leisure stroll around Jack London and stopping by would be a good time. Otherwise, if you’re on a time crunch then keep in mind they take f-o-r-e-v-e-r. It’s not that they don’t have enough people working there… it’s just… you’ll see.

It’s a cute little place next to a bagel shop. Came here in the morning before work because the bagel store next door was cash only. Friendly staff. Perhaps the owners? They were a little slow moving with the food although I was the only person there. Their menu is really simple. The breakfast burrito is vegetarian. Eggs, potatoes, onions, jack cheese, diced bell peppers and black beans, but for 7.65?! I think I’ll pass next time.

First, I want to thank my friend and fellow Unilocaler, Victor G(the maven of reviews — over 7,300 of them and still counting) for his recommendation of Café Lizzi. It’s Valentine Day and my honey-do wanted to have breakfast at the Buttercup Grill, but I insisted on dining at Café Lizzi. Café Lizzi is a quiet, simple folksy-type café where one can be very comfortable(like in a little cottage and/or a down-home type of surrounding), relaxing and enjoying a home-cooked breakfast at reasonable prices. It is a family-owned café, run by two cousins who are so sweet, loving and kind. They are very friendly and pleasant, too. I was glad I did not order the vanilla cinnamon French toast served with fresh fruit, 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon or sausage. I would not have been able to finish it. Instead I had the biscuit slider with 2 scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese, which was just enough for a hearty breakfast. Homemade biscuits toasted and buttered(strawberry jelly on the side), and scrambled eggs and melted cheddar cheese in between. The breakfast was filling and I almost dozed off from having just a bit too much food in my tummy. My husband’s breakfast was two eggs over easy with breakfast potatoes and 2 strips of bacon, and wheat toast. We both enjoyed our breakfast and definitely we will be back for their lunch. I can hardly wait to try the asparagus and tomato frittata, which is served as a special on their weekend brunch menu. When my husband and I left from the café, one of the owners brought the stylus(for my husband’s cell phone) that was left on the table. That was very nice of him to come out of the café and handed it to us.
