Capable Pest Control

I would recommend this service. Reliable, pleasant, efficient, easy to schedule, reasonably priced, and a one-​year guarantee. I am a landlord and there were ants in the kitchen of a one-​bedroom apartment that I rent out. Gene returned my message within 24 hours and was able to schedule a time to come to the rental property within 48 hours. I had never used a pest control service before and he gladly answered all my questions. I was not present when he treated the property, but I trusted him and things proceeded smoothly. I left a check for him under the mat on the front porch. The tenants were present so they let him in, he treated their unit and the outside of the building (to destroy the nest that was generating the ants), and then left his invoice under the mat as he left. I have received no further concerns from my tenants so I assume the ants are gone. The treatment is guaranteed for a year. The fee, $ 250 to treat a one-​bedroom apartment and the outside of the building, I thought was reasonable. I would use Capable Pest Control again (though I hope I don’t have to!).

I am completely obsessed with doing business locally. And with being green, so I waited through maybe five years of increasing ant problems and homemade remedies until I gave up and went for the chems.
After being disappointed that fellow agents at my company (typically, as an RE agent you want colleague recs) recommended pest control companies that were really far away (Marin, deep East Bay), I took to Unilocal and called the companies that appeared closest to home to me. (I’m certain my colleagues offered great choices, but a 30-​mile commute isn’t the right choice for me.)
Capable’s bid was higher, but it came with a one-​year guarantee. Both companies I talked to answered the phone and were pleasant and patient. The other company had the lower bid, but only a 60-​day or even 30-​day guarantee. I went for more money, more guarantee.
Gene showed up the next day perfectly on time and went IMMEDIATELY to work on the outside.
My parrot and I got the heck outta there to avoid the chems (toxic when wet) and left him a check and lockup instructions for both units (duplex). He was trustworthy and got the job done. It’s about 4 – 5 weeks later, and although I was told I would see live ants for the first few days, I did not. Neither did my tenants.
IN FACT, my NEIGHBORS next door (different lot, different building) asked me if I had them spray over there because they saw their ants disappear too. I assured them that I didn’t and I don’t think I’m authorized to place chems on their property, but they are certain even they were sprayed. I really don’t think they were. I just think Gene and his colleague were excellent at hitting all the nests on my property.
If I need to call in my one-​year warranty I’ll update this post, but so far so amazingly good!

Gene helped us diagnose an infestation of clothes moths a month ago and recommended some remediation that we could try ourselves. The remediations helped but the bugs were a bit too much for a vacuum to handle — so we had Gene come by to apply a more permanent fix.
Gene was on time, efficient, and did a great job navigating our furniture. It looked like it was going to be a huge job but it was done in under an hour. The moths no longer bother us. We are happy campers and Gene couldn’t have been easier to work with! Highly recommended.

Gene arrive just after 8am this morning, after my initial call on Wednesday. We’ve been inundated with ants in the last few weeks and finally realized it was beyond our DIY fixes.
We were told to stay out for two hours after they finished spraying, but the whole spray (in and out) took less than an hour.
Gene took the time to explain to us what he was finding and also did a quick check for other areas of risk (apparently our neighborhood also has a vermin problem!). We have seen an instantaneous drop in ants and Gene estimated they would be all gone within 3 – 5 days. Their work is guaranteed for a year.
I would absolutely recommend Gene for his prompt responses (we played a lot of phone tag, but he persisted!), professional and super helpful manner. I really hope I don’t have to, but if I do, Gene will be my only call at the first sighting of any unwelcome visitors.

I was at my wits end with Ants in my house. I literally called every pest control company close to my home. Hardly no one called me back. But I got a call back from Gene and he was so personable and guaranteed his service for a year. Before he came we had ants in every room of our house, in places you wouldn’t even imagine them being. Since Gene came out to spray our problem has been solved. I saw maybe 5 ants since he sprayed and from the looks of them they were going to roll over and die any minute. I am extremely satisfied and would recommend him to everyone!!!

I was very happy with the service provided by Gene and Jim of Capable Pest Control. He was very personable and helpful and responded to phone calls promptly. He helped me by humanely evicting two squirrels from the attic of my house in Berkeley. I was very pleased that no poison was used and methods used were humane to animals. The area between the rain gutter and roof where the squirrels were entered was repaired and I have not had problems with animal activity since then. Costs were reasonable.

Gene is kind, courteous, conscientious and he gets the job done. Highly recommended.

Excellent service! At the end of the service I felt like a family member! Gene was so helpful and had the best «bedside manner» ever. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. It is rare to find someone good at their job, that shows up when suppose to and who is nice too! Reasonable price too.

We had, literally, thousands of ants — LEGIONS of ants — all over our house. Gene called me back as soon as I left a message (on Easter Sunday!) and was sweet and polite throughout all of our interactions. He was so easy to work with and very clear and informative about the products they use. I left the house for about 3 three hours and haven’t seen an ant inside since, and that was over a month ago.
I highly, highly recommend Capable Pest Control. They will be my first call if I ever have another pest issue.

I cannot say enough good things about Gene and Capable Pest Control! After the storm on December 2^nd, every rat in the Oakland hills wanted to move in and leave droppings in my attic and basement. I called a half a dozen companies and Gene called me back fast. Three other companies called back two days later, and two never called. Obviously, I chose Capable. The next morning, traps were set, points of entry were discovered and shored up, critters were removed in a couple of visits, and check-​ups have been weekly and reliable. I recommend this company HIGHLY! No more rats! Woohoo!

This is a wonderful service. Great job, quick response and at a reasonable price. There is no one I would call for a rodent problem but Capable Pest Control!

Jene, the owner of Capable Pest Control is the BEST EVER pest control company that I’ve ever had. The service is excellent and the price is reasonable. I feel very lucky to find a such company to do the service for my rental properties.
