The food is ok, nothing to write home about but palatable. I always feel like the pricing is a little shady.

My favorite neighborhood Chinese place in Oakland. The prices are low but the food quality is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly. I wish they would take online orders, because that’s my preference. There have been times where I just walk in and place a take out order. It comes out pretty fast. I can usually call ahead and have the food ready shortly by the time I walk there(10 minutes).

Yep, 3 dishes for $ 21.99, can’t beat that and the portions are generous and delicious. The spicy eggplant, I wish I had some right now. Everything else we ordered(6 dishes total) was good and no msg. Not in the greatest area of Oakland Chinatown but hey… not too bad. Oh, they serve a complimentary soup and rice is included. And, a complimentary dessert tapioca red bean soup too — gooood! I would eat here again, and again, and again. Service wasn’t bad…

My first time here as our friends brought us here for dinner. As we walked in, the room was brightly lit and we saw a couple of friends from our ballroom dances. We thought the prices were reasonable for 3 dishes for $ 21.99 and there is quite a selection of dishes. We got to sit in the private room for 6 and each of us selected a dish to order: sauteed green beans, steamed pork with salted fish, eggplant in garlic sauce, black mushroom with chicken, sauteed cod fillet, beef with bitter melon. With our dinner, we were served the homemade house soup which was delicious and for dessert, red bean soup. Portions were hearty and we had to take home the leftovers.

Staff is rude. But the food is not bad and there’s more off-street parking here than in the heart of Chinatown. The place is neat and tidier too than your typical Chinatown restaurant. Worth another try.

Never again. RUDE. The menu that I ordered from says they’re open till 9:30. That’s what it says on their website and on Unilocal also. I called a couple of minutes before 9 and I was there at the restaurant at 9:11 because i was actually told to come over right now. They called me while I was walking to the restaurant to see where I was because they were closing soon. That’s ridiculous. When I came in I said«I thought you guys are open till 9:30» and that it literally has been 10 minutes since I placed the order. The waitress replied that they were closing because there’s no more customers and I’m thinking, «Hello, am I not a customer?» If they were so eager to go home and literally couldn’t be there till 9:11 when they’re open till 9:30 then they could’ve just told me they were closed when I first called. Never mind when I get home the dish I ordered was not the right — the sauce was supposed to be their spicy garlic sauce which I’ve had a few times before. This was sweet-and-sour sauce that must’ve been left over that they just put on the dish instead. Unacceptable service and quality of food.

Least greasy Chinese food I found in Oakland. The order was quickly delivered. The staff is nice, however at times, a little disoriented. The interior is clean, but nothing fancy.

I came here out of desperation for finding tastey scallop fried rice. Thankfully, for Unilocal I was able to navigate to Chopstick, as it was nearby my hairdresser. I was a bit skeptical from ordering off this menu as it is catered to an Americanized version of Chinese food, however after ordering my food in broken Chinese, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. This has probably been one of the tastiest scallop fried rice I’ve had on the East Bay. My rice was not too oily or salty, and full of taste. I think it’s a great deal to order this off of the lunch menu as you also get a side of soup with it as well. Overall, I’d order from here again.

I always thought it was pretty decent. I’ve been back several times. Only once on a busy Sunday night did I feel I had to wait a while. But I may have just been tired, cranky and hungry. It’s now my go-to place when I want Chinese in Oakland’s Chinatown.

I wish I could still eat here, but for the past year the food I generally get(seasame chicken, fried rice, Hunan beef) all tastes like stale, old frying oil to me.

I came here once for lunch. The prices are reasonable, the restaurant is clean, and there’s plenty of seating during lunch hour. The food is nothing special and there many better food options nearby.

Came on a Sunday, I should have known better. Have been here once before for dinner service and the food was good, the service friendly even though you may feel rushed out to clear the table for the next person. They are never packed. Not sure what the rush is… This particular Sunday we decided to follow the window suggestions for crab. I know, I know… seafood on a Sunday?!! Ballsy! Should have taken the waitress’ confused face as a sign to cancel that and choose something else. Both the boyf and I had an unpleasant evening. Next time… I will know better.

I did take-out. Tasty hot food, plenty of it and fast. Is it the latest in nouveau Chinese cuisine? No. But is was good and fast. The four-mushroom dish was my fave.

Oakland zone! Located just outside of Chinatown, this Resteraunt is good. Came here for a large party, the servers were attentive and friendly. The dishes were all good, including the Peking spareribs, Chinese broccoli, and Sea bass. Good place in Oakland Chinatown. Would come back if I’m in the area.

The service is sweet and friendly. The food is ok. Cold appetizer platter — the meat and pickles were good but the jellyfish was a little green. It tasted fine but the color was weird. Cold boiled ginger chicken — the meat had a weird spiced aroma and taste. Tofu with minced chicken — good String beans — sooo tasty and crunchy with little bits of pork and spicy pickles!!! :) Fresh fish — good Mustard greens with king mushrooms — the mushrooms are are cut to look like abalone ;)

Located in DT Oak and the outskirts of Chinatown, Chopsticks serves Chinese fare at an affordable price. I like simple foods, and sometimes Chinese restaurants can go overboard with grease and sauce and fried stuff and whatnot. Chopsticks is somewhat Americanized so it suits my palate — lots of food that is consistently fresh and not too greasy. My mom is good friends with some of the owners so maybe that’s the sole reason why I always get good food and service here. I think it’s super brave they opened the restaurant here — next to a trendy café as well as a sports bar. So far they seem to be doing okay traffic wise but not too many people know of it yet. So if you’re looking to escape crowded, congested Chinese restaurants Chopsticks is always a really chill spot for Chinese food.

You know, I really enjoy dining at this restaurant. I am fully Chinese. Even though some would argue that this isn’t exactly authentic Chinese, they are only half right. The truth is the menu encompasses both Americanized and authentic Chinese dishes. There may not be as large of a variety for regular Chinese food eaters, but it will do. My family is in good connections with the owners. They are very nice people, and I’ve seen them wait other tables with no disrespect. I personally admire the employees opening a restaurant on this street because at night it feels a little scary. The prices are super good for Chinese, and I would recommend so many things if I knew the names of them(sorry). I know you should venture to try the greens here and the pork pancake(not sure what it is without saying Cantonese). These are for sure very good! If there is any way to get in touch with a Chinese friend who knows their food, try to ask to see what’s authentic if you’re tired of broccoli stir-fry with beef.
