I couldn’t have asked for better service and better work than what I got from these guys. I had some serious damage to my car door and it was going to be difficult work. The result was flawless and the care they took was greatly appreciated. They even went out of their way to fix a cracked mirror on the other side of the car which was NOT a part of the deal. They just took the initiative and fixed it anyway. I mean… who does that? These guys, that’s who. Great work, amazing attitude and all around pleasant folks who help us manage unpleasant situations. Tai and his team are the real deal.

This review is overdue. I’ve had two vehicles worked on by Choy’s in the last three years and would do so again in a heartbeat. In both instances, the work was performed well, within a reasonable amount of time, and for a price that I’d have a difficult time matching.

Unilocal used to be a very good source of reliable refers. I don’t know with this experience. The automobile baord told this guy to refund me after their investigation. (Only the money he took from me for the sloppy job he performed on my car. Because no one can prove that the problems I had to fix $ 1500 damage was caused in his shop, even though most likely it’s his fault.) just pay back the $ 17 000 you toke for the body work. He refused, to pay back money he obviously didn’t work for. Now I have to suit him to have my money back. And the has 4 stars in Unilocal.Is no way l am the only victim off Choy’s Auto Body and repair. My car have to go back in another body shop to be fixed correctly. And the guy has 4stars in Unilocal,wow!!!

Took our Ford here for our first visit after it developed the inevitable failure of its electronic throttle control (thanks for scaring the soil out of me on the freeway, Ford!) along with an oil change and smog certification.
Choy quoted us $ 400 when he though it was just the throttle actuator that was the problem. After a lot more labor (read test driving and checking) than anticipated and having to replace the entire ETC, he honored the original quote. He could have easily tacked on another $ 100 in labor, but I think he knows it’s more profitable to make a customer for life.

New bumper for less than $ 500? Unheard of. But at Choy’s, reality! My family and friends have been coming to Choy’s for over 15 years and it has ALWAYS been the greatest quality of work and services. You are kept posted on the progress of your car. And the price… BABYYYYYYY, cheap and can’t be beat!
Took my car around to a few shops for quotes of dent in car door. Quotes ranges from $ 1700 – 2300. 5 – 7 days of work. Choy’s did that for far less than $ 1000 and replaced my bumper for $ 300, done in 4 days. My car looks all brand new again, the paint job is fabulous.
I agree with the previous reviewer. Take you car to Choy’s and laugh at anyone who doesn’t!

Sonny is the man, honest cheap, friendly. Recommend this place to everybody and laugh at anyone who goes elsewhere around here

My family comes here for all their car related issues, from changing bumpers and changing oil to patching up tires.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon because my tire lights came on and I ran over a nail :(. Boo, anyways they patched it up really quickly and it took only about 20 minutes! Super nice and super fast. Highly recommend.

Professional, skillful, kind, fair pricing, completed work early, thoughtful staff, Tai takes pride in his work. He went above & beyond tending to details and even vacuumed the interior of the car. Would recommend this repair shop in a heart beat.

This is the best auto body shop in Oakland. They even won an award to prove it. They have repaired numerous cars for my family and we are satisfied every time.
They might get busy sometimes and they don’t have a secretary in the office to assist them, but if you are patient on those busy days, you will be happy with the price they give you and the quality of the work they do. Highly recommend this place.

After seeing the Unilocal reviews, I thought I’d get an estimate from Choy’s. First my situation: 1) 20 year old Toyota Camry in excellent condition (but still a 20 yr old car). 2) damage I would be paying for myself, not insurance. 3) moderate dent damage to drivers door.
So, I told Tai this information and that I wanted it to look good but not necessarily perfect and at a good price. If possible, I wanted a small area on the front-​fender touched up as well since paint was wearing thin (an old repair/​paint job that was wearing out).
He said he couldn’t do that small touch-​up (too hard to match) but could do the door for about ½ the cost of my other lowest estimates. We made arrangements for me to drop it on Tuesday evening and they would have it done by end of day Friday. I didn’t really need it until Monday because shops usually under estimate the time required. Got a call Friday morning saying it was done. Already? Really done? I went over immediately. Not only did they do the driver’s door but the front-​fender and rear door repainted entirely to match with a beautiful finish and the pin striping redone. Couldn’t see any color difference between original (old) and new paint. Amazing. And, when I showed them another little scratch I had tried to touchup on the other side of the car with the little matching paint color stick from auto store, which didn’t color match very well, they gave me a little can of paint that matched beautifully so I could (and did) fix my previous touchup job. I did go to 4 other well-​reviewed shops who said they couldn’t come near the estimate from Choy’s. Choy’s did say they underbid my job and had to use a lot of paint to do the two doors and fender. I even asked if they wanted a little more money to cover that extra paint but they declined my offer. Maybe you won’t get as good a deal as I did but but boy was I satisfied with the quality, speed and thoroughness of the job. Yes, if they are busy they do seem at bit brusque (perhaps cultural difference) but the workmanship was excellent.
Definitely worth checking with these guys, particularly if you have to pay out of pocket, although I’m sure they do good insurance work, too.

Saw this place in Unilocal,drove 20 min from my home to get an estimate to fix a dent. One guy asked me to wait for 2 mins and he would help me. I patiently waited for about 25 min. Then another guy (I think he was the owner) came out and said to wait for 5 more min so he could drop someone. When I asked him a question, his response was -«I can’t help you» with an attitude. The guy was rude, unfriendly and he clearly didn’t want my business. So I took my business to some place else. Not recommended.

Choy did more than I asked for because he couldn’t stand to let my old but cool car leave without taking care of paint that was becoming dangerously thin — putting my car at risk for rust. He even charged me less than we had agreed on. Best of all, he did a beautiful job — the paint looks like the original (expensive) paint job. We had a group hug afterward — how cool is that?

My car was vandalized with crooks cutting the metal around the driver’s door lock to try and pry the lock out. They were unsuccessful in pulling out the lock, but they smashed the lock and cut up the surrounding metal. I received a quote from one garage for $ 2100, which included a new door, new locks, new remote, and recoded keys. Plus, they wanted to keep my car at least a week. WOW!
I thought there must be something better out there, and there was.
Based on Unilocal reviews, I took my car to Choy’s for an estimate as was quoted an exceedingly fair price They did a FANTASTIC job, going over and beyond, repairing door dents, repainting, getting a new door lock, and even washing my car! They obviously care about getting the job done right at a price I was more than happy to pay. I can’t praise their meticulous work highly enough. The final bill was LESS than the original quote– when does that ever happen?
I hope I never need auto body work again on my car, but if I do, I know exactly where I’m going. i was very pleased with their work.

This review is way overdue. I used Choy’s about 4 years ago and will always go here before any other shop. I had to have some work done on my 1998 Honda Civic including a new clutch, new brakes, and new drive belt. I called around for prices and Choy’s was half the price of the two other shops I called. They were recommended to me by a friend so I trusted I wasn’t going to get scammed. The work was done very quickly (one day). When I came to pick up my car they had the old parts ready to show me what was wrong so I could trust that they hadn’t just done unneeded work. I highly recommend this place.

Choy’s is the most reliable and reasonable body shop I’ve ever dealt with. Tai (the owner) is respectful, thorough and efficient. He does what he promises to do and his prices consistently beat the competition. I’ve had 4 collision damage repairs done over the course of 10 years and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the only Auto Body repair place I’ll go to!

Great job! The bumper came off of my 2001 dodge intrepid and had a nice sized dent in the side back panel. I went to another place and they said $ 125 to fix the bumper and just buff out the scratches in the dent. I went to choy’s and for $ 100 they fixed my bumper, buffed out and repainted 2 of the dents (1 big, 1 small) AND gave the car back totally cleaned inside and out. In addition to great work and fair prices, the people are super nice! I’d send my friends there!

For body repairs, Choy’s can’t be beat. He services the cars of most of my family, does a great job and is very budget friendly. I just popped in to replace a broken tailight — the total repair took 10 minutes and cost ¹⁄₃ of what the Dealer was charging for the part ALONE. How cool is that?

They fixed a big dent on my side panel where some punk threw a rock at my car and also fixed some typical bumper scratches & dings. They repaired the big dent, re-​painted, etc… Everything looks great. The guy (forget his name) is very nice and professional. Best of all, they were about 30% less expensive than the other quotes I got.
