looks are very decieving! on the outside it looks like a hole in the wall but when you go inside it is very nice. went this past saturday with my sister and we were not happy about the $ 20 cover charge but it was after 11pm so yeah. now this is jack loondon so ladies watch your step as you walk to the club. no designated parking but circle around youll find something. Security strickly inforced all night made me take out my pepper spray and i put it in a flower pot! lol which i gladly got when I left. hip hop flowing all night. bartenders were plesant got served pretty fast. n drinks werent to high! WARNING it did get very HOT in the place! leave the sweaters blazers scrafs at home tights as well. about 3 fans that didnt do much smh. i mean we were sweating HARD. pretty spacious had some seating along the wall. nice VIP area. bathrooms were nice but they got trashed. DJ Rick LEe was in the place but i swear he spins like hes at work on 106.1 like we hear that everyday. mix it up. i coulda did better with my ipod lol would have gotten more stars if the music was a tad better and the AC worked if there even was one.

Oh Club Anton… I would love to see what your version of a jazz night is considering what your ratchet version of a hip hop night was. I came here expecting a more laid back vibe with old school hip hop and R&B. What I got was? Chingy, T-Pain, Tyga, and other unknown rappers who sing about«stupid ho, money, *bleep*». It just was not my scene. My cousin and I came here literally 4 minutes after 11, which meant we had to pay the $ 20 cover. Since we were short on cash(yep, it is cash only to get in with NOATM machine nearby). the girl charged $ 20 for both of us, which is why I bumped this place up to 3 stars. I appreciated her kind gesture, but honestly, if I am going to pay cover for anything it better be one of the best places I have been to. I was really disappointed by how empty the spot was, but it did start to fill up a bit more. The drinks were ridiculously cheap and the bartender made us some cool cocktails. I would probably come back just to pre-game.

This venue has changed a bit. The crowd is more of a hispanic crowd from the last time I’ve been here. There is a performer that comes every Friday and it is salsa night. Very nice crowd, reasonable drinks, and nice people. This is a fun place to go if you like to salsa. Get here early because parking can be hard to find. The staff is also really nice and helpful as well. Friendly place if you like to salsa. Drinks are also reasonably priced.

Horrible place! They don’t return phone calls, website is very lame, does not give enough information and half of it is outdated. My friends and I showed up on a Saturday night, and their DJ had not show up! I do not recommend!!!

I came here for an event on Friday that was like a class reunion(VAAMP reunion). I don’t recommend coming here if you plan on just socializing and catching up with people because you’ll find yourself screaming and spitting into their ears and faces so they can hear you. It’s pretty dim too so one of my teachers didn’t recognize it was me… then again it HAS been 10 years haha. This place does look nice though. It’s small intimate but it it also has a dance floor. I noticed they served food and I didn’t order any drinks so I can’t really say much about them :-/at least parking was fairly easy for a Friday evening :)

Came here for a private party, which, I have to admit, is a nice venue. Too bad my last impression was a bad one. Towards the end of the night they would not give out free tap water. They only sold bottled water for $ 4.00. How do they expect people to sober up? Are they waiting for a DUI to come back and haunt their business? Be forewarned. If you need water to sober up, stop drinking early or save your money to buy water later!

I stopped by on a Happy Hour on a Thursday night tried the Jameson on ice w/squeezed lime and it was tasty. The tapas(I forgot the name but it was cut sirloin over french fries, & the chicharon it was good and the bartender was friendly. Staff was helpful and the great thing was the first drink was free! Groovin’ to the great selection of music the dj was playing! I’m coming back on Thursday and bring my friends along with me.

I came here for happy hour on a Friday night and we had a great time. The service was fast and friendly(to be fair, the place was empty). The manager came up and introduced herself. Drinks were definitely an A and the food was a B. Mind you, it was happy hour and really cheap so no complaints overall. I had the pisco punch($ 4) and the sangria($ 4) and they were both strong and tasty. The ceviche was really bad — left untouched in fact. The corn garnish was rock hard(seriously could have chipped a tooth on it) and the fish was not so tasty and smelled suspicious. I hypothesized to the group that the amount of drinking we did would kill any germs, but everyone was still too scared to try. The aji de gallina($ 4) was really good and had great sauce. My husband loved the Lomo Saltado($ 5) and we ordered two by the end of the night. Four of us ate and drank and the bill came to $ 74. My husband’s big gripe was they gave us the final bill nothing was itemized. We asked to see what we were paying for, they could not offer us any details. When we asked for some sort of detail they said the system has not been updated yet and it is cheaper to eat/drink here than anywhere else. Not necessary a vote of confidence for the bill’s accuracy. I am a finance gal so no matter how drunk I was, I was then compelled to double check the bill. We had to somewhat guesstimate what we drank and ate to do a bill gut check. Kinda a huge buzkill.

I DJ’d big girl parties here in 2007(Big Boogie Nights) and had 2 good events here. I believe management has changed but not sure. Full Figured Entertainment holds big girl parties there now and from what I’ve been told they do a great job. The venue is in a good spot, no doubt and should be packed all the time. Great bartenders. If it wasn’t for poor management when I was there, I would have continued to host parties there.

I’ve been here a few times for several events and had a good time. The dance floor is ample, the DJs have been good. The last time I was there some girls got into some variety of drunken fight, and security was quick to let those ladies know what was what. That’s the only time I have seen an issue at this place, so they don’t lose a star for that. 3 stars are for the whole bar situation: The drinks aren’t strong enough because they are about the perfect size for a Skipper doll(not even big enough for Barbie)…and they are pricey for San Francisco standards, let alone Oakland. Also, like I said… I’ve been several times and sometimes it is a cash only bar and sometimes they accept cards. I hate that! I intentionally avoid places that are cash only when I can– yeah… I do… judge me. Besides, if you already have a card machine, let me use it. Have you been to Jack London at night? Do you really think I’m going to walk around looking for an atm?(actually there is one about 4 blocks away, but that is not the point). It just doesn’t makes sense to me… if your drinks are pricey you should take cards… how much cash do you expect me to carry? Overall okay, and will be back, but if it is cash only again… grrr…

I have to preface this by the fact that I came here as a performer as well. The show was at 8, they didn’t open the space for us til 715 or so… ended up we started the show kinda late. Regardless, I really like the space. It has a good feel when u first walk in. The stage is dressed really nicely and feels real, legit. It wasn’t too crowded on stage even though we had drums, 2 keyboards, bass and guitar with their own amps, and 4 singers, each with their own mic. They don’t really have a backroom specifically for performers, but there is a back closet thing to put stuff in, only thing is that it locks automatically, so when I needed to get things, I had to get the guy to unlock it. Now, for the patron review. The drinks are kinda weak, and the food costs too much. I ended up going across the street to Nations for food. Their credit card machine at the bar was broken so I had to wait 15 min for them to process my card. Dood really? That’s where all the money is at. I’d have had that thing fixed as soon as possible. BUT… The bathrooms are clean, the floors of the club are clean and not sticky. I’d come here again to support a friends show or for a specific event, even host something here. But I wouldn’t just stop by to hang out.

The DJ music was ENTIRELYTOOLOUD for a space that size and all I could hear was the horns in the band… also way too loud. Whatever that is on the floor is not a dance floor, sticky and rubbery are not conducive to salsa dancing. The set up was pleasant and a pretty big dance floor(such as it it) considering the size. Fairly easy parking.

Atmosphere: Sexy Music: Fantastic Crowd: Fabulous Food: Delicious Walked in one night unexpectedly and fell in love! Didn’t realize Oakland had a gem that can compete with The City. This place is great and is quickly becoming my favorite Friday/Saturday hotspot. Give it a try it’s worth it.

I went to Club Anton with my friends for a special event on a Saturday night and had a GREAT time! We loved the club! It has a huge dance floor and very accessible bar. There was plenty of seating and all of the seats had a good view of the dance floor so it’s a great people watching place for those of us that don’t dance! The drinks were STRONG and yummy but a bit pricey for the size they serve. My friend asked for a Kahlua and cream but they poured a Kahlua and Baily’s so that was an interesting night for her! The DJ was awesome! I don’t know if he was just there for our event but everyone was feelin’ it! Even tho I don’t dance, I was still rockin out! Even with a DJ spinnin, we were still able to talk to people an carry on a conversation. Didn’t see any security in the club but we didn’t have any problems so it turned out ok. I personally like to see someone keeping an eye on the crowd. The bathroom was ok, plenty of stalls but some chick threw up in one early on and it didn’t get cleaned for a while. There is plenty of parking in the neighborhood but you might have to park a few blocks away and walk past a bunch of empty produce warehouses — kinda shady. However, there are a ton of bars in the area so it all felt pretty safe. I will totally go back again!

First Attempt: Gay Night. I realized after I payed. Stayed for a beer. But well, I’m not gay. Second Attempt: Went there early, asked if it was gay night(just to be sure), payed, had a beer and was kicked out at 11pm together with the other three people in the club. They were closing the place down due to emptiness. They closed down after a group of maybe 15 people left. Third Attempt: Waited in line for 10 minutes then was told it was a private party. All three attempts on Friday or Saturday nights. None of the«events» were announced on their web page. In terms of crowd: I’d say the gay party had the best crowd. The other two times from what I could see were very um «ghetto». If you’re a professional looking for a fun night out, better try one of the other places.

4 stars for the four boys who asked me for my number. And if you read any of my reviews you know I always base a bar on the men that I meet there. I only gave my number to one of the guys — but this place deserves more than one star. I went on a Saturday night, so it did not have its traditional latin jazz set up, which was good cause I went to dance. But first I had to get my friend really drunk in order for her to get jiggy with it. The drinks were $ 7 each — kinda high for my pocketbook but thankfully we didn’t have to pay for most of them ourselves and the man at the door let us both in for the price of one(shh don’t tell.) Props to the white boy DJ who kept me moving until 2am. Yes, thats right, this place rolls until the very end. None of this playing YMCA at 130 to force you off the dance floor. Rick/Rich(I don’t remember and I’m sure he prefers to go by DJ McWhitious or something) spins their every third Saturday, but sadly refuses to play the new Britney single cause the club would never invite him back.
