Came to Crossfit V16 about a year ago as a total newbie TERRIFIED by the prospect of getting my butt handed to me but curious nonetheless. Each trainer was super knowledgeable, friendly and made me comfortable as a beginner. I can say the same for the whole group of folks. The gym is small but it’s clean and there is plenty of well kept equipment. It’s a hidden treasure, check it out.

Dropped in on a class during my holiday stay in The Bay. The box is conveniently located in DT Oakland and shares facilities with an amazing climbing gym. Everyone(staff, coach, and members) were welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back on my next visit up North.
I’ve done 3 CrossFit classes, and let’s just say that after each one basic things like texting and driving are difficult. But the feeling of accomplishment after getting your butt kicked each and every time feels amazing. I’ve been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for the past 8 years, but I was at a crossroads where I felt like I wanted a better workout with individualized attention in a group setting. After three classes with Rafael, Matt, and Cindy, let’s just say that I was corrected very quickly when my form was incorrect and they advised me how to properly modify certain exercises. I just signed up for my monthly membership today– and at $ 75 per month(with one time $ 100 initiation fee), that’s such a steal! I’ve looked into other locations that easily charge up to around $ 200 per month for CrossFit. I’m also excited for TRX and Bootcamp at Great Western Power Co.

Outstanding crossfit coaching, technical Olympic lifting, extremely helpful and targeted corrections. Perfect mix of tough love that makes you wonder why you can’t resist coming back again and again to punish yourself: «You’re never gonna get done one rep at a time c’mon…Yeah it feels heavy that’s why we’re here!!» Cause you feel amazing when you’re done. Coach Rafael is the bomb! Price point is insane… I moved from Canada to the Bay Area and checked out a lot of crossfit boxes and they all clock in at $ 250-$ 300/mo. Here for $ 75 you get unlimited access also to climbing, yoga, spin, boxing, not to mention the mammoth stellar Mission Cliffs climbing gym in San Fran and Berkeley one too. Not to mention all Touchstone gyms. Join and challenge yourself whether you’re a beginner or trying to do a body weight snatch. If you don’t know what that is come check out a class, they even welcome absolute beginners, unusual opportunity at a xfit gym. Congenial environment and no attitude. I’m in better shape now than 20 years ago.

It’s been about a year since I started regularly attending crossfit at v16. I want to write some long ass thing, but I will spare everyone. Probably the thing I am most excited about and thankful for is just how much I have learned about form, technique, and working out in general. I feel confident and competent walking into a gym and doing a solid weight training session without injury or embarrassment. That is huge for me in so many ways. Thanks so much to coach Rafael Vega, our awesome trainers, and all my buddies and partners in crime.
