I’d give David Gunderman a galaxy of stars! We started our search in August before our home in San Francisco was sold, so our situation became complicated. We saw about 65 or 70 houses until we found the one for us. In the meantime, David was patient as we bid on several houses and was able to help us avoid a couple of catastrophes. On our first offer, he insisted that we make an inspection contingency. We were the high bidder but lost to people who were willing to accept no inspections. We were so appreciative of his ethics and support. In the course of the next few months we encountered two dramatically dishonest, fraudulent agents who grossly misrepresented their properties. David was on top of the whole situation and saw us through what could have been serious problems.
He is extremely knowledgeable about the Oakland/​Berkeley market… he knows the difference between value and glitz. He knows what is a fair price, he knows the various strategies employed by various agents and he is knows how to make suggestions without imposing his taste or preference. We have bought and sold several homes in Berkeley and San Francisco and have generally had very positive experiences with the agents we have used and David is in the absolute top drawer.
Another huge plus in working with David is his assistant Suzanne Johanson. She is a project manager with extraordinary skills, she doesn’t miss a beat! She handled detail after detail and helped in so many ways from the closing process, to finding the right vendors and skilled trades people. We closed in the middle of the holidays and because of her professionalism, we actually closed early! She is unfailingly thorough, detail oriented, and supportive. What a gem!

My husband and I had the pleasure to work with David and Andrew while buying our house in Alameda. They not only know this (insane!) market like the back of their hand, but they also made us feel like true partners. They were our guides throughout an extremely stressful process, and we never once felt pressured or pushed. I worked with David, Andrew and Ali in buying a house in Alameda. Let me be clear — this was the most professional interaction I’ve ever had.
David, Andrew and Ali are consummate professionals. They are domain experts, familiar with all kinds of situations and edge cases. I learned more from working with them than I have in two previous home purchases and one sale. I also always felt like they were my trusted advisors and partners, and this was more than a simple transaction.

If I could, I would give David, Andrew and Susanne 10 stars! First, they are just good, kind people, who are excellent at what they do.
At least 10 years ago, we were referred to David & Andrew when we first wanted to put the house on the market. We had signed all the paperwork, done the photos etc, but at the last minute our personal situation changed and we ended up not moving. Then last year, a similar thing happened and again, we did not list it. Both times they were so gracious about us not proceeding even though they had already spent time and energy with us. They genuinely cared about us.

There are so many details that go into selling a home and they handled every detail they could and those that we had to do, they guided us every step of the way. We first met David a year ago when we were considering a relocation to the Bay Area. Things didn’t pan out but we held onto his information as we liked him and Andrew so much. At the end of October 2014, we did decide to relocate and immediately called David again. I wasn’t sure if he would remember us from last year but he did.
First, we had the challenge of relocating, so that added a level of complexity to buying in Alameda, a very tough market. This was no issue for David. He told us exactly what we needed to do to get a home in Alameda, the area we had been wanting to live in for some time, so we followed his instructions, and shortly thereafter, we were in contract. We closed yesterday in an area we have been wanting to live and are absolutely thrilled. David is amazing and so is Andrew.
This transaction was smooth and pleasant. David answered all of our questions, communicated regularly, was upfront and honest about anything and everything, there was no question we didn’t feel we could ask. He is so professional and knowledgeable. The way David manages the transaction is amazing. As others have stated, he is patient, kind, and calm. We never felt like we couldn’t reach out to him, he was always there. When we needed referrals for other items, he provided and coordinated these appointments and people to help us.
Andrew is equally wonderful. David and Andrew as a team are fantastic. There are never any gaps in communication or the transaction. You always feel that they have everything under control and it is a really great way to feel in a transaction. Our transaction was pleasant and seamless.

I found my dream home right at the start of looking and, with David’s help, I was moved in less than four weeks later!
