Looking for a nurturing, encouraging and motivating teacher? You will find the best in Dean Curtis. I have been taking lessons, along with my 7 year-​old son, for a year. She is simply amazing and we are progressing steadily. I am an adult learner– someone who has always wanted to learn piano-​who was very shy about beginning to play piano. One lesson with Dean and I was hooked.
Here are the things that I enjoy most:
1) She is incredibly knowledgeable about piano — both in theory and practice. She brings this wealth of knowledge into each lesson while building off the stuff we mastered previously. She even emails me you tube videos of piano and pianists between lessons.
2) She can teach adults as easily as she can teach children. She has a gift for breaking down songs and for explaining the theoretical aspects of the music.
3) She makes lessons motivating; she chooses relevant music and adjusts it to each level and lesson.
4) She is patient and has a wonderful sense of humor-​which is needed for 2 beginners like us.
5) She is flexible and worked with me to get the right schedule for both my son and me.
Dean has truly brought a love of piano into our homes. I feel lucky to have found such an extraordinary teacher. I highly recommend Dean for any age or level.

I really enjoy working with Dean! As an adult coming back to taking piano lessons, I wasn’t sure what to expect and found Dean to be extremely encouraging, helpful and patient. Dean is great at explaining theoretical concepts as well as techniques on how to practice in order to play pieces. Not only is she a great teacher, but great company as well — I leave each lesson with a smile on my face!

I have been working with Dean as my piano teacher for about three years. She is amazing and wonderful to work with for so many reasons — she is warm and motivating and very patient, she quickly identifies the most important areas to focus on that make a meaningful improvement in my playing, and her extensive experience and knowledge of music has contributed to my enhanced understanding of what it is that I’m playing and trying to express.
