Eddie’s Drive In Liquors

This place looks like a humdrum liquor store on the outside, but on the inside, there’s a surprisingly good selection, especially of craft beers. Bonus: you can pick and choose among all the beers on offer instead of having to buy six-​packs of one kind. And the staff are friendly and helpful too. Definitely recommended if BevMo’s beer selection isn’t quite doing it for you.

I go here all the time. There are hardly any liquor stores in this expensive neighborhood, and Eddie’s rocks. Great selection, although slightly expensive, but it’s worth it. Friendly staff, awesome place. I’ll keep coming back, that’s for sure.

i try to go to eddie’s before going to any other store (especially big ones (safeway/TJ’s etc)) to purchase my beers and wines and liquors and snacks.
their wine selection isn’t great. that is the only reason why my review is 4 stars.
however, their beer selection rocks my socks. They always have new stuff, a really knowledgeable staff, and huuuuuge selection.
they also carry a nice selection of liquors– lots of st. george’s distlierry, which is great.
also also, decent snacks. organic ramen, why not!

One of those places that’s «been there forever» as part of the Rockridge fabric. I’m not exactly certain what the «Drive in» refers to, although its location on a corner means it’s one of the very few businesses in Rockridge with dedicated parking.
I mainly go here for beer, and the selection is OK, but not wonderful — Cask or Trappist Provisions at the other end College are better choices, although quite some distance. The food is mostly junk, even though a step above gas station selections.
Still, the staff here seem reasonable friendly, although sometimes a little standoffish — I’m sure they deal with quite some nonsense at times.

Great service and cigar selection is good too!!! Wine is a little bit on a pricy side though. But all in all it’s a best liquor store around!!!

I love Eddie’s. Been here ever since I was a kid and now my kids want to get an ice cream when we walk past it. The guys that work here are very friendly and knowledgeable of their wines. I’ve started making a weekly trip, just to get my newest favorite moscato, SIP — and I found out today you can’t get this at any grocery store — Cost Plus does! Anyway, I’m going tonight. Their wine/​liquor selection is extensive, plus sells anything else a liquor store does like junk food, cancer sticks and toiletries.

This is no 7-​Eleven. It’s a neighborhood institution like the Rockridge Café and George and Walt’s. The service is exceptional. They stock everything I need including a good beer selection. I just wish they were open a little later. They have on-​site parking which is at a premium on College, I’ve never had to park on the street. Trivia alert! It’s the only place I know of that stocks full sized Tootsie Rolls (I know, so what?)

Eddie’s Drive in Liquors is a find although the name is a misnomer. it’s not a drive in. parking lot fits only 5 cars. .
lots of wines, hard liquors, micobrew beers, mainstream/​mex beers, all priced reasonably. offerings run the gamut from cheap to high end.

Eddie’s is no mere package store, it’s a first-​rate place to buy liquor and more. A bit of everything liquor-​related, lots of interesting beers, good prices, good snacks, basic stuff like milk and eggs and even several kinds of top quality ice cream. Friendly service and an ATM with a very small surcharge if you need cash. Sure, you can drive across town to BevMo and pay less, but then you’ve burned fossil fuels and supported a megachain. Shop at Eddie’s instead-​our neighborhoods need more places like this.

I stop in there all the time and the guys that work there are always so nice and attentive. I have not had a bad experience yet and it just has a very mom and pop liquor vibe. Definitely recommended as a stop. It is liquor store prices (duh) but the experience is great:-)

Wish they had a t-​shirt. Liquor & Video is a fantastic graphic combo. Ripe with irony. I would buy many for Xmas gifts. Love the location and the easy parking. Full disclosure: I’ve never bought anything here. Only went in once to ask if they had t-​shirts.

The name itself gets a couple of Unilocal stars. No cinema screen though.
Just a nice assortment of beer, wine, hard stuff, import, domestic.
The building it’s housed in is nice and appealing; with a lot of glass for a liquor store.
I always thought it would be a great backstop for a horror movie.
The staff is chill and makes your alcohol purchase way better than
say like your Wild Turkey purchase from Safeway up the block.

Look, there are corner stores and there are corner stores. If I wander through Rockridge in fifteen years and Liquor Video is still around, I’ll be reassured that the world is working properly. Oh, and it’s pretty frigging compulsory to call is Liquor Video and not Eddie’s. The employees are sweet, they’ve always got the radio on something quirky but cool, and they provide the all-​important beer, cigarettes and local flavor in an otherwise pretty… let’s call it a stroller-​traffic-​heavy neighborhood, shall we?

Not the cheapest prices but definitely the best selection of beers in Rockridge.
And most importantly, they have the friendliest crew working here. You’re always warmly greeted and taken care of here.
I’ll walk here most of the time instead of Safeway to support the little guys and so should you.

I read a drink recipe I wanted to try that had two specialty aperitifs. I searched Bev Mo and could not find either one of them. Then, I wandered in to Eddie’s to pick up something I forgot at the grocery store and checked their shelves. Low and behold they had one and they were happy to specially order the other. Can you ask for more from your local liquor store?

An admission: this place inspired my love of beer. That probably doesn’t make much sense. What kind of person would feel inspired by a small corner liquor store/​video rental place? What, was my love for fine wine inspired by a well aged bottle of green apple Boone’s Farm?
Well, its a small store, but they have a pretty good selection of beer, including stuff from Russian River and other local breweries of note, and the fact that they also rent videos and sell doritos can’t hurt them.

Just because you’re the only game in town (and I dispute this characterization under most circumstances — there are two Safeways and a Longs, all open 24 hrs., just blocks away) doesn’t mean it’s okay to be unfriendly bordering on hostile to the vast majority of your patrons.
True, after a long week when I struck out at several nearby stores in my search for pineapple juice for my soothes-​all-​ills world famous Key Lime Pie Martinis (either due to said stores being closed or not having it in stock), the minute I came upon Eddie’s I knew there was a can of Dole’s waiting there with my name on it. Nevermind that it’d probably been waiting for me for years and had the dust coating to prove it. I didn’t have it in me to go the extra few blocks to Safeway, so was pretty happy.
But I pop in there pretty frequently and rarely is it a pleasant experience. Which just makes me want to take my business elsewhere as much as I can.

After cutting my finger rather viciously when chopping fennel, I realized that there aren’t many everyday places in Rrockridge.
Sure, there’s the gourmet cat food, exotic orchids, and British Vogue all to be had within a block, which I adore and are usually a part of my quotidien experience, but I Needed Band-​Aids. STAT.
Thankfully Eddie’s is there to supply the winos AND the klutzes of the world, especially when the two are intertwined.

When my husband and I get a babysitter and get to go on a date, we often wind up tooling around Rockridge. And almost every time, we will find occasion to stop by Eddie’s… a bottle of water, some gum, lottery scratchers, whatever.
They do have a great variety of beers and wines. They are always friendly, and there has always been at least one character. Last time there was a drunk woman walking around looking for a 40 of something specific, with a loud and amazingly beautiful singing voice.
I like Eddie’s.
