We came here after a Oakland A’s game and were pretty happy when we left. Parking is difficult and patience can be a virtue. We had a fairly long wait, and service was spotty at best. The restaurant was pretty clean and well maintained. Drinks took a bit to come out, but refills were prompt. I ordered the brisket and my wife had the pork ribs. We both had the mac and cheese and potato salad. The food was fresh and tasty. Both the brisket and ribs can be challenging to cook, but they did an excellent job not over cooking either. The brisket was tender and the burnt ends were delicious in their house barbecue sauce. The ribs weren’t quite fall off the bone tender, but they came close. They were meaty and flavorful. We’ll likely be back. I’ll settle for friendly reminders of our visit with the bottle of sauce I bought to take home.

Came here with some friends after watching the Warriors game. I’ve heard many good things about this joint and we finally made a decision to come here and indulge. The wait was about 20mins assuming a lot of people were coming here to eat after the game as well. To me, BBQ is all the same where ever I go, but I must say the food is good! We ordered ribs, sweet potatoes, greens and corn bread. EVERYTHING was really good. The waiter was on top of it as well and friendly. The ambiance is loud, its definitely a place for family and friends but not too intimate for a date night. I will definitely be back!

Such crappy service by the staff and manager. We were with a large party tonight and my wife got there a little late. The bill had already come. So we went to the bar to order and there was this big ordeal about taking money away from the girl in the group area. They even went as far as telling the front restaurant not to place and order for us even though the large party we were with had already paid their bill. We were so disgusted by the entire staffs behavior that we just left in the middle of the Warriors game. Since when does a restaurant not want to make money from people who obviously want to spend money. The mixed black woman with all the tattoos(lighter complexion) was the instigator of all of this since she worked the large party we were a part of. I’ve never seen anything like this before in my life. We will never ever spend money here again and I would suggest to anyone with a large party to not deal with this place.

Well for being an iconic place in Oakland I think my over all experience was ok. The place was not packed at 2:30 when we went yet the waitress who was nice was slow and would disappear. Had to keep asking for things, refills, napkins and plates. The bbq was good but I have tasted better. The medium sauce was my fav. We made reservations and were seated promptly and before everyone got there(that I really liked).

Food is decent but we have been waiting over an hour for our food. It’s not even busy and there is enough workers! Rather go to hard Knox in the city.

BBQ is relatively delicious! It’s located near Jack London Square of Oakland, in a unique building and with special declaration! A good restaurant to go! President Obama visited here.

Was in Oakland for a Raiders draft party, decided to grab dinner. They came through like always. I love their links and the ribs always fall off the bones. My waitress, Estela, was on top of it and kept my jar full of lemonade. Stays on my list of «go to places».

The food was really good! I have been to many events here and my stomach is always satisfied. The chicken and links are delicious! I can’t get enough, I always want to roll away from the table. Kudos to the owner and cooks :)

I’ve ordered here twice. Both times I was frustrated that I wasted my money. Coleslaw was bland and not crunchy Collard greens were bland BBQ ribs were not tender, clearly not smoked long enough I asked for no sauce, and got food drenched in to much sauce that there was a puddle in the bottom of my tray. I’m pissed! What a shitty place!

Honestly one of the BESTBBQ places in the Bay Area! The service is slow, parking is difficult, and the place isn’t the most upscale, but their food more than compensates. Coming in there are multiple TV screens so u can catch whatever sports event that is playing that day. It is typically not as crowded during lunch and slammed during dinner(which is when I normally do take-out, which tastes just as good as eating in store especially if you do the BBQ sauces on the side). You cannot go wrong with the rack of pork ribs. It is seriously the best item they have and what I always come here for. I always get the rack of pork with the BBQ sauce on the side. Their meat is moist, mildly smoky and is so rich in flavor. Their medium BBQ sauce is not very spicy, but is smooth in texture and adds an additional sweet and savory flavor that marries well with the meat. Their spicy BBQ sauce is a little more chunky and though it has chilly seeds in there, it’s not that spicy. The rack comes with 3 sides and 4 cornbread. For the sides, hands down the Mac and cheese is the best they have. It also pairs well with the spicy or mild BBQ sauce and I swear I can eat that for days. It has the perfect portion of cheese and the macaroni is cooked perfectly. Paired with the BBQ sauce everything just melts in your mouth and happiness happens. This is my go to BBQ spot to bring friends. Note be ready to wait if you get the rack of pork. Their brisket is good too, as its moist and flavorful, but if I had to choose go with the pork ribs.

You KNOW when you haven’t been to a place in nearly 10 years, but you’re still craving their food, it’s a great spot. E&J has got to be hands down my favorite BBQ place. I’m from L.A., and anytime I think about the bay area, dream about those sweet sticky smoked pork ribs! From the moment you walk in you can tell you’re in a legit smokehouse. The sawdust, the barrels, the red and white checkered tablecloths! I started with a tall glass of their very own Saucy Sistah Ale. Creamy with full body! I ordered their Ranch Beans, a must! And a full dinner portion of those lovingly smoked ribs, caked with layers of medium heat sweet BBQ sauce. Even as I’m typing this my mouth is watering. The service always feels like family. Parking is crazy in this area, but it’s definitely worth it. I already can’t wait to go back.

Stumbled across this place while searching for a restaurant/food joint that would let us open our bottle of wine we purchased in Jack London Square… since my wife is a mad fiend for ribs and I openly refuse to make/cook/prepare them AND this place has a license to «cork» a bottle with a small fee($ 10), this was our place to get down and dirty with some ribs and wine. It was busy, the Warriors were playing– pretty perfect for an early Saturday night! First off, it’s not fancy, but it doesn’t have to be! It’s a friggin rib joint. Unlike a lot of complaints about this place, my expectations lie in the food and not spent on questioning why they don’t have craft beer. Order a pitcher of friggin’ beer with those ribs and stop complaining, people! We decided on the slab of ribs and 3 sides. For only $ 40, it felt like a steal. We chose the mac n cheese, potato salad, and cole slaw. I loved the mac n cheese– it was simply and tasty. The potato salad was good… I’ve had better but that did not stop me from practically licking the little bowl it came in, that’s for sure. I left the cole slaw for my wife(not a fan). I devoured the corn bread! Love me some corn bread… In my opinion… THERIBSWEREHELLAGOOD. Crazy tasty, the sauce– to die for. Can we say hella meat… like seriously lots of meat! The menu did say it can feed 3 – 4 people… we were a little hungry, don’t judge. All in all, I’d go back… and bring more people to finish off the slab of ribs with me so I don’t feel like an oinker.

It used to be better. I haven’t been here in like forever but must say the last time I was there, it was much more enjoyable. Got there on a Wednesday night and I had to sign in and wait for a table when there were so many open tables. Many people working but it took 15 minutes before a waitress came and took our order. She did not know how to multitask at all! She was pouring water to a table that was leaving and not attending to the other tables that were ready to order. After the placing the order, it took 25 minutes before the food got to our table. Food was cold, the ribs were cold, the beef links were cold and the brisket dry. The chicken was the saving grace. Had the Candied yams and potato salad. Yams were ok and the potato salad was just plain awful. Definitely can’t say that they have the best BBQ anymore.

Sad face, but I didn’t love the Everett & Jones experience. I’ve only been once, so maybe their regular fans can attest to better times. A few things first: the place is sticky. Everything I touched was sticky. Not a fan. Second, there were a ton of people working, yet we waited when open tables were available. The food: actually quite good! However, everything was served cold. Our meat plate was not even close to warm. Even with it being cold, the sausage links, chicken, brisket and ribs were impressive. A ton of tender meat. We requested the hot BBQ sauce, and we didn’t get it. Or if we did, it’s far from hot. This was sweet and kind of bland. :Pet Peeve: They charge you for extra BBQ sauce. This is a BBQ joint. There should be ketchup bottles with every kind of sauce possible. Don’t nickel and dime me! Their beer list is whack. Think Bud and Coors. Not cool when you live in a craft beer mecca. Also, I mean sports on every tv, this could be a great place for sports watching if there was actually better beer to be had! The potato salad with relish was not enjoyable and the collard greens were bland and cold as well. The complimentary corn muffins were big and looked amazing. I passed as I’m going no bread this month, but they looked real good. Overall, it’s quite a bit of meat for the price, but Everett & Jones lacked with follow thru and ended up being pretty disappointing. Not quite sure I’d go back.

Great barbecue! I have been here a couple of times and haven’t been disappointed. My go-to is the barbecue brisket. I am kind of picky about fat, so I do have to do some trimming, but the meat is tender and seasoned to perfection. The service is great and the location is wonderful. Parking can be an issue. Last time I was here, the parking garage was full, so had to hoof it quite a ways. This time, I was able to find nearby parking on the street(metered). Love their candied yams, their desserts(pies)…everything. Everything tastes great!

Smokey, tasty, effing fantastic food. Loved the collard greens. Service was great although it took a while to get our food — well worth the wait. I’m not going to go on and on because this place has thousands of reviews. However, I did want to add my voice to the chorus of patrons who have LOVED this place. OMG try the sweet potatoes.

This spot has been in my bookmarks for quite some time. One night, we were craving some BBQ… so we decided to head over to JLS and finally check this place out. So we wanted to try everything. What better way to do that other than ordering the 4 way combo platter — ribs, chicken, links, and brisket. This came with 2 sides and cornbread… enough to feed 2 people. We chose Mac n cheese and green as our sides. We also ordered yams which were delicious! Out of all the meats, I really enjoyed the ribs and chicken. The links were next. I think it’s super hard to find a spot with great brisket. Unfortunately, the brisket here fell into the dry category. Otherwise, the other meats were tasty and cooked well. The chicken was juicy. The sauces were great. I liked the hot one better than the mild one. The service was decent. People were friendly although the drinks and food lagged a bit. 4 stars and I’d probably come back again.

Came here for a friend’s bday BBQ celebration and I was not disappointed. They dish it out here for the right price. The major problem I had was that they wouldn’t merge the tables together for our party and we were split apart. Not very friendly. However, we were right next to the music and once our friend with her baby came in, they decided to give us a table to put us all together. We were squashed like sardines, but at least we were all sitting together like family. The food itself is good and the brisket was the best thing they had here. We also had their beer which is their own brand in a giant jug for $ 6.50. Worth it, but it was kind of a weak beer. Still, it was really worth the price. Did I say the brisket was good? Well, I’ll say it again Also, really liked the their mac and cheese. Pretty much everything was good. Nice place and wouldn’t mind coming again!

Dry, dry, dry. That would explain the meal perfectly. Our group of 3 came in to grab some dinner on a Friday night. It wasn’t busy and we were seated immediately. I wasn’t starving so we decided to get the three way combo with chicken, ribs and brisket and chose potato salad and macaroni and cheese for our sides. Everything was dry and had bbq sauce poured over it. Meh, not good. Potato salad was fine, mac n cheese seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile. Corn bread was average. Service was standard. Pass.

First time eating at this location but just like the others the food was on point! the links & brisket I ordered was smothered in sauce and the mac & cheese and yams were bomb. It was packed inside so the wait was super long but understandable. I ended up getting my order to go and ate it on my hotel’s patio that was right down the street on the waterfront so the view was nice. Everett & Jones cooks good bbq this location is nice and clean inside with a few TVs for the games and the staff was very friendly but just be prepared for a long wait time if its packed inside.
