Faultline Artspace

I attended the studio opening. They host about eight really talented artists with unique voices. The art consists of painting, drawing, and mixed media 2-​D art with a few smaller 3-​D pieces. The studios are located on the edge of town so the area is a bit sketchy. You also have to walk up a flight of stairs and down a weird hallway to get here. I thought I was going to a Fight Club. Luckily they were in the active process of painting the hallway with some lovely art. Once you’re in the actual space it’s quite clean and contemporary with spacious high ceilings. They even have a screen printing station for their artists. I think they’re going to hold classes and shows here. I would love to come back and see their next show or attend a class. Just look out for the flies.

I attended Faultline’s open house last Thursday and was very impressed. The space is beautiful with great light. The artists were all very friendly and judging from the displayed art in the gallery and their personal spaces, obviously very talented as well. Their show is up for another 2 months, and is definitely worth seeing. There is also some amazing mural work in progress just outside their main entrance — I may have to stop by again to see its completion.

Faultline is a brand new 6000 sq ft art space on the edge of the Fruitvale Station neighborhood in Oakland, California. They have 2800 sq ft of personal studio space for artists, and a drawing room for live drawing, social events, and collaborative projects. They also have a gallery space, and a wood shop where they make environmentally friendly panels and canvas for other artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Faultline has a complete screen printing setup, which is a focus of their space, along with murals and large scale painting and drawing.
Currently they are under construction, they just finished the studio walls and have artists moving in.
The space is ALREADY so beautiful, great light, good energy, and fun people to share in the progress and creativity. It is transforming daily, you only need to stop by for a visit to see the changes!
