Went to this truck almost 2 years ago on me and my GFs first date at an off the grid event. Let me tell you these burgers stole me heart and hers! They were jucy, big and delicious… There fris and tater tots are amazing as well. Its not often you get a good burger from a truck but this truck did it! And its a staple in our relationship 2 years later. We still look to find this truck so we can grab a bit of memories and good food. Dont pass this truck up go for it and prepare to be amazed.

Whenever I think of the Bay/SF region, I’m always reminded of Five Ten Burger. It’s everything I want in a burger, salty, greasy, piping hot and simply just delicious. I dare say this might be the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. My burger was perfectly seasoned. Oh, and you really got to add an egg to it. This place is the first place I’ve ever added an egg to my burger(much thanks to the suggestion of my friends). I’ve got to say, I’ve been addicted to adding eggs to my burgers ever since. This one little egg makes such a different boom in flavor that it’s simply amazing. Don’t forget to add an order of garlic fries as well, these are kind of like pringles. Once you pop, you can’t stop.

That was a long wait for a mediocre burger. The fries are plentiful and delicious, however.

This is what food truck food should be — salty, greasy, piping hot deliciousness. The burger was great, if just a tad salty. The truffled grilled cheese might be my favorite thing ever. Truffled tots were crispy and excellent with just a hint of truffle, and the garlic oil fries were holyshitdelicious. If you see them around, and you’re not dieting, get something to eat, you won’t be sorry.

I went to Off-the-grid in El Cerrito recently, and I decided to try Fivetenburger. Although one of my friends really likes their food, I wasn’t really impressed. I ordered the truffle tater tots and the burger with bacon. My meal cost $ 15 which is way, way too expensive for a burger and tater tots from a trailer. I thought the food must be amazing to justify such a high price. I was wrong though. I love salty food, but the tater tots were absurdly salty. I couldn’t eat more than a few tots at a time because the salt just become overpowering and really dried out my mouth. Also, a significant fraction of the dish was just crispy fried bits and not solid potato. On the plus side, the truffle taste was nice and subtle. The burger was okay. They asked me how I wanted it cooked, and I opted for medium rare. The burger ended up being well done. I don’t know even want to know what a well done burger would look like. Like with the tots, the burger patty was really salty. The rest of the ingredients were fine(the bacon was awesome). This was definitely not a $ 10 burger though. If you like adding massive amounts of salt to all of your food and you feel like spending $ 15 on what is basically fast food, this is the burger place for you.

NEVERAGAIN! You ripped me from my perfect lunch and time. $ 13 dollars for the Grassfed Burger + Fries. I ordered: — Grassfed Burger w/American Cheese(Meat was to be cooked to medium). + Egg(asked for it over medium so it doesn’t drip all over the place) — Garlic Fries. Anyways, there wasn’t anyone behind me while I waited for the burger. It was a dreadful wait. The person in front of me only ordered a sandwich. How do you manage to satisfy your customers if the line get’s long? Finally got my burger and ran back into the office to enjoy. Took a bite into it and found out that the burger I just ordered did not included the egg. Where’s the egg?. How do you forget the egg? Now I’m thinking to myself, «Do I have to walk back and get the egg?» I went back to the truck and told the lady behind the glass window. She was like ohh, «sorry.» Took in my sandwich and asked the chef. The cooked turned around and asked me did you ask for an egg? WTF? You charged me for it. Dreadful wait again… I was called back. They didn’t make a new burger. They took my burger with a bite and kepted it sitting on the counter until they made and egg. I looked at what he handed me and was so disappointed. You left my burger sitting there to cool off while you made that egg. Oh and you didn’t bother to bag it for me(i had to carry the spoiled burger back into the office). You just spoiled the entire lunch for me. Couldn’t you make a new burger? The burger that I bit into was now cold with an warm egg. The egg was cooked sunny side up and dripping everywhere. Everything was soggy because you let it sit, drenched! Not to mention, the fries went bad while waiting for the burger too. Oh, and it was a burnt piece of meat. They used super high heat and got the meat all burnt. Tasted really bad! You can see my picture of the burnt burger. I only took a few bites and threw the entire lunch away.

If you’ve got a hankering for a greasy burger and side of deep fried potatoes, Fivetenburger’s got you covered. The burgers are large and substantial, and a good deal too for $ 6. Upgrading to grass-fed beef will set you back $ 9, and any additional toppings(bacon or fried egg) are an extra $ 1-$ 1.25. I tried Fiveten’s loaded grass-fed beef burger with an added fried egg for $ 10.25. I didn’t want to spend another $ 5 on the truffle tater tots, by with all the glowing reviews, I couldn’t resist. Unfortunately, my greasy and messy $ 15.25 meal wasn’t worth the heavy, bloated feeling I had afterwards. I requested my beef patty to be cooked medium, but it was well-done and very chewy and dry. At least the juices from the tomato and pickles added some moisture. The bread was nice and fluffy, but the fried egg was a disappointing medium-well, lacking the general ooey creaminess from the yolk. The truffle tater tots were so greasy that oil stains seeped through the paper bag. They were also too salty, but not so much that it hindered the mild truffle oil flavor. However, the redeeming factor to these tots was the texture: they were so crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I wouldn’t be surprised if they double fried these to get that kind of crispiness. Service was very friendly, but a little slow as my food took around 10 minutes. But I shouldn’t be complaining when other reviews say they’ve waited much longer. Overall, Fiveten has decent but super unhealthy and greasy food. Portions are large, perfect for splitting between two people, but variety is limited as they only offer burgers, a couple different sandwiches, and fries/tater tots.

Off-the-grid: Square HQ I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich($ 9). Fresh ingredients with diced onions and tomatoes really brought the sandwich to life with crispy yet soft bread. However, the spicy mayo was a bit too liquid for my liking and the chicken was dry(I suspect it was overcooked or not soaked in a brine bath before grilling). Overall, the flavors were good, but not worth the price in my opinion.

First time trying the truck since a coworker kept raving about how good it was. She was comparing to Val’s in Hayward, and THAT’s a darn good burger. Food truck Thursday on 12th Street in Downtown Oakland. They arrive during lunch time so you’d think they’d be a little more prepared. Got there with 5 other coworkers and ended up waiting about 24 minutes… if anything, we all got to chat while waiting but then notice there’s a line and the order guy decides to fuss with the sign on the outside of the truck… sheesh. Oh well. The draw for me was the truffle tater tots and would return for that but the burger was average… nothing to wow about. But i’d definitely try the grilled cheese and see if i can call ahead… waiting for 24 minutes considering we were probably one of the first 5 people there was ridiculous.

I’m going to have to give this place 1 star because I have to. They deserve nothing, I hate that Unilocal forces me to give a star to an undeserving business. Their slow service gets a minus, the sandwich we ordered not only had hardly any meat on it, but it tasted awful and the garlic aioli was like pure grease, the truffle tater tots are heaven in a cardboard box, but even they don’t save this miserable kitchen on wheels. This had to be THE absolute slowest food truck I have ever experienced. We were at the Waterwerks German Car show in Richmond last weekend, and they were the only truck there. We were starving, the line was long(there were 9 people in front of use when we got in line). We waited for 40 minutes in line to order WHAT!!! Yes, I wasted 40 minutes of my life in a food truck line. While we were standing there, I Unilocaled them. Sure enough, massive complaints about their snail like speed. Half of the items on the menu were taped over as «sold out». chicken breast — SOLDOUT grilled cheese — SOLDOUT How the hell can you sell out of grilled cheese? It’s bread and cheese! You were selling cheeseburgers so you obviously had cheese. I know you had bread, because my miserable sandwich was served on it. Bread + cheese + fire = grilled cheese. You were not sold out of grilled cheese. You just weren’t trying hard enough. When we finally made it up to the window, we ordered the steak sandwich and an order of truffle tater tots. We had seen the tots coming out at a snails pace with other orders, they were overflowing out of the cardboard and looked browned and delicious. We were order #52. When we stepped aside to wait, they had just called #46 to pick their food up. We waited ANOTHER30 minutes for them to get through 6 numbers. W. T. H. ??? Normally, we probably would have given up on food, but as I said, we were starving, at the auto show, and there were no other food trucks. Finally, our number was called. My husband and I were sharing the he steak sandwich, we have ordered lunch from food trucks many times and been able to share a sandwich, because they are usually pretty big. It came out wrapped in paper, sitting on top of the tots in the cardboard box, and it was on a small crunchy roll. The tots barely filled the box, we totally got jacked on the tots compared to other orders. Then we opened the tiny sandwich. I kid you not. THREE small strips of steak on it, some sad, wilted looking grilled onions and the greasy garlic aioli. What a rip off $ 9.00 steak sandwich $ 6.00 for truffle tots $ 2.00 — sodas x 3 ____________________ $ 21.00 for one of the worst lunches I have ever had. The next day, I bought a bag of tots and used some truffle oil and made my own truffle tots. The bag of tots was $ 2.00. The truffle oil has been in my kitchen. For $ 6, I can make a ton of truffle tots. I would never go here again. There are way too many other good food trucks with decent service around.

I, very unfortunately, ate at the Fivetenburger truck during a recent El Cerrito Off the Grid Wednesday. I ordered truffle tater tots and they were so over fried that I couldn’t taste any of the truffle oil, which was the reason why I ordered them in the first place. I’m used to tater tots being crispy on the outside and pillowy and potato-y on the inside. These were like biting into a brick. I decided to say something, and went up to the truck and politely told the person at the window that I felt like the tater tots were way over fried. She didn’t even acknowledge my statement, and instead turned and yelled to someone inside the truck and said«This woman has a complaint about the tater tots,» and told me to talk to someone else. So I walked to the pick up window and explained again that I felt the tots were way over fried. This woman told me that they prepare their tots crispy, and that was how all tater tots were prepared. Fine. You prepare your tots to a complete crisp so you can’t taste the delicate flavor of truffle oil. I can accept that. But don’t sell them as truffle tots. And please teach your food truck workers to be a bit more polite to your customers. I’m not going to waste my time or money on Fivetenburger again when the Bay Area is teeming with far superior food trucks staffed with people who understand good customer service.

The only reason this gets a «2-star» rating is because of the tater tots(which are still overpriced IMO but whatever) are delicious. However, Fivetenburger manages to once again be the slowest food truck at OTG. My coworker ordered from the Kasa truck. Their line was 3x as long and he received his food within 10 minutes and returned to the office to enjoy his meal. Fivetenburger took 45 minutes from the time I got in line(3rd) till when my food was handed to me(after sitting on the counter for what seemed like forever). It baffles me that the woman who cooks the burgers and fills the bag is unable to call out a number so that the food may be picked up. Instead, the bags of food sit there until the woman taking orders leaves her position to come over and yell out numbers of already cold burgers. The cherry on top was seeing a third employee(?) sitting in the drivers seat of the truck scrolling through on his tablet. Nevermind the horde of people waiting for their food, Lebron James suffered from cramps in the Finals again! Sorry, but no way is Fivetenburger good enough to warrant waiting my entire lunchbreak to spend $ 10 on a cold burger. I recommend considering any other food truck at OTG.

Ordered the Loaded burger while 510 was parked at Drake’s in the ‘Dro. My ticket was #71. Had a single beer. Ate my burger. Got home ran a couple of errands. Two hours later I had massive stomach pains like someone was twisting my guts in their fists. I spent the next five hours pissing out of my ass. I can confirm it was 510 Burger because I had no other meal today. My asshole thanks you for the food poisoning. NOT. At least I know never to come back.

I’ve been to FIVETENBURGER twice now. First meal was underwhelming, second was amazing! The first time I went, I tried their Grassfed Burger and added bacon. It was just ok. No real complaints but it didn’t live up to the massive hype.(3.5 stars) Last weekend I tried their Ribeye Cheesesteak… BULLSEYE! This sandwich was off the chizzain good. I’d get it again in a second and highly recommend to all.(4.5 stars) Overall, a decent burger — but that cheesesteak is now the apple of my eye. 4 stars!

I tried their grilled cheese and garlic fries this past weekend(instead of only eating their tots — for once, I was too hungry to ONLY consume my favorite-est food item ever) and I have to say that there is a LOT of grease! So much to the point that the bottom of the bag soon became almost transparent. A little off-putting. But the grilled cheese was pretty tasty, though it’s pretty hard to mess up your standard grilled cheese. The garlic fries were yummy, too, and not overwhelming on the garlic taste(of which I am not always the biggest fan if it’s too much in my face). Overall verdict: what I had was tasty, but still has nothing on their truffle tots. My next goal will be to try their burger to see how that compares!

I love me a good food truck! They were at the Jolly Rodger release event at Drake’s Brewery yesterday so I finally got to smash on one of their legendary burgers. It was seriously one of the best burgers I’ve had. I ordered mine with grass fed local beef, red onions, tomatoes, an egg, cheddar cheese and lettuce with a side of garlic fries. A little sad that I didn’t order the truffle tater tots bit that just means I’ll have to pleasure my taste buds with their foods, once again. Every bite of my damn burger was succulent and amazing. It was cooked to a perfectly pink medium rare which is the best way to go. As for their service, these guys were SLAMMED and they hustled their asses off all with a smile. What more could you ask for???

Whenever I’m stressed, I eat. I had a Finance exam yesterday so I went straight to San Leandro’s Streat Eats and stumbled upon Fivetenburger. You’d think I’d order a burger considering that this is what they’re known for, but I went for a grilled cheese instead. Why? Because 1. I feasted way too much at the Eat Real festival and it was time to beast at the gym so I went for what I thought was a healthier and less heavy of an option. Operation Beast and Feast is what I like to call this. And 2. The grilled cheese was toasted on truffle oil — no further explanation needed. Now if you ask me, grilled cheese is pretty basic. It’s just cheese sandwiched in between two slices of the typical sourdough — but no… Fivetenburger outdid themselves with this one and the ingredients are really simple, and sometimes simple is what you need to make one outstanding sandwich such as this. The swiss cheese was creamy and rich; the roasted tomatoes were soft, tender and cooked to perfection; and the sourdough, which was nearly the size of my face, was toasted on truffle oil. Best thing ever. It gave this sandwich another dimension of bold flavor. What I absolutely loved was that this grilled cheese sandwich came with a side of garlic oil fries! They were thin, crispy, and full of garlic flavor without the actual garlic pieces. Place a fry or two in your sandwich and you’re golden.

Truffled tots and a Loaded burger?! Yes please! I was at Off the Grid: Upper Haight to try another truck, but couldn’t resist trying this one when I saw Truffled tots on the menu. Since everything is made to order, it will take a while to get your food, but it’s sooo worth it! When we got our bag of food, I was waiting in line for another truck, but was fighting the temptation to rip into it since the truffle smell from the tots was calling to me. Fastforward to when I rip open the bag to see a bunch of tots covering my delicious burger! The tots were fresh out of the fryer and drizzled with truffle oil. Delicious! Once I dug through all the tots, I found my giant burger with bacon and egg. Let me tell you, the patty was cooked to a perfect medium and was sooo moist and tender! I’m drooling just thinking about it! I will definitely hit this truck up again next time I see it!

I’ve been meaning to try 510 Burger and when they were one of the trucks at an event at Rockwall Winery in Alemeda I felt it was destiny. I stuck to the basics with the«Loaded» burger(Natural grain fed golden gate meats 6oz burger, $ 6.75) with swiss cheese(included in price) + garlic oil fries($ 2.50). A few minutes later a greasy sack appears in their take-away window. Along with the cheese the«loaded» comes with lettuce, tomato, housemade pickles, onions, mayo, ketchup, and mustard wrapped in white paper to make eating less messy( ). The thin-ish patty was cooked to a juicy medium-rare as requested( ). The other toppings were fresh and I like the toasted brioche-y bun. They give a generous portion of thin-cut fries for the $ 2.50( ). They were crisp on the outside like I prefer, but didn’t get much garlic flavor. Burger: 4.5 stars Fries: 3.5 stars(more garlic please!)
