Frank’s Pizza of Oakland

We had a party of 6. 2 meals came out about 30 min after the others. One, a cheesesteak, was inedible. Meat was nuked. Some of it was hot and some cold. The sautéed onions were cold from the frig. Oil and butter on them wasn’t even melted. Couldn’t eat it. Other dish looked good but everyone was almost done eating so sent it back. No one really seemed to care. Waitress was MIA a lot of the time. No manager or owner came over to apologize. We expect mistakes, but at least put a little effort into caring about your patrons. Won’t be back.

Let me start by saying that I was born and raised in Northern Jersey, my husband was born and raised in NY. We moved to the DC metro area a few years ago, so when we go back to NY/​NJ to visit family, we try to grab some «real» pizza. This past weekend my parents said we should try the place they’ve been getting pizza from because it was so good. We did. Wow. I’m not sure how they sell it, maybe we just got the week old crust? It tasted old and we were so disappointed. We won’t be getting pizza here next time. Maybe my parents really don’t like the pizza… I realized after that they got sandwiches instead, maybe the sandwiches are fresh?

The food here was very good, and they were very accommodating. The broccoli rabe, meatballs, and salads were good but nothing topped this garlic Rosemary oil they served with the bread — AMAZING! Loved the waitress Jessica who was extremely bubbly and happy and made sure we were satisfied with our food. Would definitely go back if we are in the area again.

I ordered Lunch Special, Linguine with Meatballs, which is exactly what’s on the menu and my invoice, but there is only ONE meatball inside! It’s not even a large meatball. I was clearly misled my the restaurant menu, as I called back and was told the delivery guy didn’t steal any meatball.

I would give this place negative stars if it were possible. I placed what I thought was a simple order of 1 plain pie, 1 large pie, half plain half pepperoni, and 1 spinach florentine pie. The delivery guy shows up with 1 plain pie. I call them back and tell them what I’m missing, the manager says ok, is very short with me and tells me they’re on their way and hangs up on me. 20 minutes later (I live maximum 10 away from here) the delivery guy shows up again. He has 1 plain and 1 pepperoni pie, not what I ordered. Now we are 90 minutes from when I ordered and I have a house full of people and 1 pie. I call back and speak to the manager yet again. Tell him I’m missing the half plain half pepperoni pie and the spinach florentine pie. He repeats the order back to me as «1 pepperoni pie». At this point i had gave up and went to the restaurant because I could not trust them to get a simple order correct and it took me 2 hours from the time I ordered to get 3 pizzas. The manager did not even offer me a credit of any sort for my inconvenience, even though I most likely never would use it because the pizza was average at best. Horrible customer service and even worse quality control.

Great food and great waitress. I had the chicken calzone and it was fantastic. Also had tortellini pizza which was fantastic. Outstanding prices.

Great pizza. End of story. Visiting this town on my way back home and stopped by for some random pizza and I find this gem. Great salad pizza; fresh! Great Friendly staff

Franks has always had good food especially the pizza… the have a large varieties of pizza… we always enjoy everything we have ordered. …you can sit in or take out.

Food is good. The salad pizza is excellent. Expect to wait way beyond the time that your told on the phone when you order though.

The food is good, and they were the best pizza place in the area for awhile. Recently a better place opened, but the fact that they had later hours kept us ordering from there occasionally. We tried ordering for delivery tonight at 9:10pm, (they’re open until 10pm according to their menu), and we were told that they only deliver until 9:30pm. When we pointed out that it was only 9:10pm, we were told that it was slow, and they didn’t feel like paying the delivery guy.
I tore up the menu. If your delivery guy doesn’t show, or you have an emergency, I can forgive closing early. If you’re just cheap and unreliable, you’ve lost my business.

So I go in with my girl to get a slice of pizza at 9:18pm. Hours on the door say 10:00 for Saturday’s. The establishment looked closed. I asked the older gentleman if they were. He said «they were close to it» in such a rude tone that I contemplated leaving, but I decided to try the food to write a proper review. I ordered a plain slice, and my friend ordered a slice of buffalo chicken and the Philly cheesesteak and French fries slice. She thought both were passable even though the cheese on the cheesesteak slice was burnt. My plain slice was mediocre at best; it was nothing I couldn’t find at any other north jersey pizzeria. If that gentleman I encountered when I walked in was a manager, they need to really reevaluate the employees that represent their restaurant.

Consistently delicious pizza and a lot of variety to choose from. The eggplant rollatini pizza is a must! Every time I have gone to Frank’s in person, everyone is very friendly and I receive prompt service.

These people don’t honor their own coupons. Spent 10 mins on the phone to find out that the offer they sent us in the mail just this week is a hoax. Pitty:-(

Best pizza around!
Try the buffalo chicken slice (I’m not usually a fan of that kind of slice, but they do it really well).
Eggplant slice and pink vodka slice are also delicious.

Started to come here with a Groupon and have come back several times after that! The place is always clean, staff is always polite and prices are great so that’s a plus for me!
Its great for family dinner or date night for pizza or pasta! The food never disappoints and it’s consistent in flavor! It’s also BYOB! On the weekends like any other place it does get crowded so just be a little patient! They also have a party room in the back which I say fits easy 40 people for you to book parties! I wouldn’t change a thing! My family loves it!

Get the Grandpa pie!

Something changed and for the better. Looks like a lot more help and the food is still top notch!

I love franks great owner great ti the town! Always fresh food nice & hot. His staff are teens so yes if u go in hungry you will wait. That’s what you want tho correct? Normally the line is out the door!
Skip the others go to the best

Im gonna give this place another shot because I believe it has potential and the amount of crazy specialty pies they have is insane which is a big plus for me. Im gonna do it right though and order a fresh pizza for pickup instead of buying a slice and having them heat it up.
The slice just got way to crispy when they heated it up which means their oven is dirty or it was already a well done pizza. I got a slice with vodka sauce and fresh mozzarella which was decent but the bottom of the pizza was way to crispy and flaky. I must say though the crust was good because it wasnt too thick for how crispy it was. The vodka sauce was alright ive had better and the mozzarella was pretty good.
Place is nicely set up with plenty of tables and conveniently located next to the dmv which makes for a quick slice after being miserable for hours. Staff was friendly and service was adequate.

Frank’s is half typical NYC style take-​out pizza counter with premade pizzas, garlic knots, rice balls, and so on, and half waitress style restaurant. My girlfriend’s family put an order for 3 pizzas on a busy night so they told us it would take 45min, it actually took a little over an hour so there’s no extra points for efficiency, especially considering they’re working with three giant pizza ovens. The pizza was average suburban type pizza, really nothing special. Still the service and prices were good and there wasn’t too much to complain about so if you’re in the Oakland area and want some decent Italian food or pizza, I would recommend Frank’s.
