Pretty spacious, cute café in this area of apartment complexes. They serve great breakfast options, coffee drinks, smoothies, and pastries. When we came in on a beautiful Saturday morning, we were pleasantly surprised at the nice atmosphere and delicious sounding menu. Some menu items are egg sandwiches on bagel or croissant, wraps, Vietnamese sandwich(comes with lettuce and tomato in addition to traditional Vietnamese sandwich things of cilantro and picked carrots, which i thought interesting), and smoothies. I was at first enticed by the healthy but delicious sounding green smoothies, for only $ 5-ish, but opted for a savory morning option. The breakfast wrap with eggs, bacon, spinach, salsa, and avocado sounded too good. I got this with an Americano. Bf orders a sausage egg cheese breakfast sandwich on croissant. Eggs were cracked, beaten, and cooked fresh. I was highly impressed by the fluffy eggs, perfectly cooked bacon(slices, not crumbles! :D), fresh spinach, and generous avocado in my wrap. It was absolutely amazingly delicious. Not too salty(i.e Seasoned perfectly), fresh, flavorful. Bf’s croissant sandwich looked good as well. He said it was heavy, in a good way; he was very happy with his sandwich. I liked how they had almond milk, half and half, and milk options to mix in your coffee. They also had sugar, simple syrup and honey as sweeteners. The morning bun we got for dessert was a bit dry, but these are likely bakery distributor items. Still tasty but best to stick to their strong point: their fresh food. Very happy with this place and would love to return to get that wrap again and again.

I usually order the cleansing juice and salad. Relatively affordable compared to some of the gentrified prices in the area.

My go to breakfast and lunch spot since I started working in Oakland again. It’s reasonably priced and you can call ahead to preorder which is important to those of us who want to maximize our lunch hour. No one wants to wait in line during the lunch time rush. I usually get the green power juice for breakfast and a grilled chicken or pork Vietnamese salad. Seriously can eat that everyday! I’ve also tried the pineapple coconut green smoothie, acai bowl, mean green juice and double spicy juice. They are all delicious! Juices are freshly made. Only downside is I’m not sure when they cook the grilled meat, it seems like it’s pre-cooked and they just reheat it. Still yummy though.

What a delightful café this is! I loved the ambiance and several open seating and couches. The staff where quick and I ordered the teriyaki chicken Vietnamese sandwich and Thai coffee and both came exactly as I ordered. I asked them to change my sandwich from the standard and they got it exactly right. I highly recommend this affordable and delicious find.

Great place to get a fresh, healthy green juice and other combos of smoothies… I usually get the green mean juice with kale, apple, ginger, lemon… a nice pick me and a great option to have when you feel you need to ‘detox’. They also serve viet sandwiches and spring rolls… People working there are great and always so friendly!

Bahn mi sandwiches are okay. We shared the teryiaki chicken, spicy chicken and grilled pork. Their gentrified pricing isn’t very competitive, you can get much cheaper bahn mi sandwiches with the same quality or better everywhere else in Oakland. They’re jumping ahead of the pricing game by at least a couple of years. Oh and they microwave the meat to reheat it within feet of the register. That may happen at other bahn mi sandwiches, but I don’t see it happen. Nice seating though, not dingy like other places can be. Maybe that’s why they mark up their sandwiches 40%. Probably wouldn’t eat here again because there are an unlimited number of other options better, faster and cheaper.

Good Vietnamese lunch. Three of us had avocado roll, bbq pork sandwich, and chicken noodles. All good; all reasonably priced. Coffeehouse atmosphere. Free wifi. Nice neighborhood spot.

So, soooo slow. I ordered a latte and it took 15 minutes to arrive, only when I started asking where it was. The place was not very busy but the 2 ladies working here were running around like crazy… they need more help! Coffee was not bad, hence no 1 star.

GREAT&CHEAPVEGGIEBANHMI! I moved from SF& missed Duc Loi Bahn Mi dearly so I was so happy to discover this café! The sandwiches aren’t as large as Duc Loi’s but just as or even more flavorful with 4 great vegetarian options offered! Ive tried them all but these days I stick with the curry gluten and don’t ever regret it!

Good coffee, comfy seating, fast wifi. I’m totally hooked on the breakfast sandwiches. Imagine a regular bagel breakfast sandwich, but with a little Vietnamese fish sauce flare. Breakfast fusion! This is a great morning hangout spot for a neighborhood that really needs one. Everyone should go, despite the awkward name!

So, I’m officially obsessed with this place, and have become a «regular». The coffee is always great(save for ONE not-so-great experience, out of ten or so purchases), the atmosphere is relaxed and homey, and the breakfast sandwiches and bagels are amazing. I don’t eat sausage, and this place has made me a fan with their egg, cheese, and sausage bagel sandwich…

I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but if you’re in the area it’s probably the best option. They offer fresh juices($ 5.75) and a variety of sandwich options. I tried the carrot-ginger-lemon juice, which was good but could have been colder. I also had the spinach, egg, avocado wrap($ 5.75), which was just okay as well. There actually wasn’t any avocado in it(I was promised avocados!) but I didn’t bother saying anything to them. Overall the juice and wrap were just OK, nothing to write home about. Service was pretty slow as well because there are only two employees who are responsible for everything at the café. It seemed like a lot of work for just two people. I can’t imagine what it’s like during rush hour. I’d probably come back to try their other stuff. I’ll update my review once I do.

First time trying out this place based on Unilocal reviews. Showed up before the lunch rush at 11:55. 5 people ahead of me ordering mostly sandwiches. 20 minutes later, still no vietnamese sandwich. The three girls behind the counter seem overwhelmed by the orders. The line grows by the minute and no food orders out. The final test will be the Pork Banh Mi if I ever get one. May be their menu should be simplified to keep up with lunch rush. Just finished the BahnMi. Bread– dutch crunch with no crunch. Bread may be day old. Pork– ok Fixings– shredded carrots only. No daikon. A bit on the sweet side Verdict– will keep looking for a better Bahn mi in Oakland.

The ladies that work here are the nicest and the banh mi are ridiculously good. That’s all. Go there. Eat. Happy taste buds. Happy tummy. Sad that it’s all gone.

I read they have Semifreddi’s bread, and I read they have egg and cheese croissants, which turns out both are true; however, they get their croissants from Costco for some reason. I don’t eat cheap croissants because they’re usually made with partially hydrogenated oil, or some other vegetable oil, rather than butter. So I got an egg and cheese bagel instead. The only plus was they put a tiny sprinkle of chopped green onions in the eggs. The minuses were that the eggs were microwaved and the default cheese is American – which I forgot to ask about and always makes me nauseous, but which I ate to be polite. An hour later I still feel nauseous. I don’t think anyone anywhere should be served American cheese at a restaurant, but they should at least change the menu to read«egg and cheese product bagel» for full disclosure. Since I don’t feel that microwaved eggs alone are enough to warrant posting a review, if they decide to remove all cheese product from the premises and only serve cheese, I’ll delete this review.

If you live in the neighborhood(which I very happily do), then this is a great spot for you! If not, I can see why you wouldn’t be too«impressed» with it. Let me start by saying I am here pretty much every weekend at least once. I am a fan of their banh mi, breakfast sandwiches, and vietnamese iced coffee. Everything is absolutely affordable so don’t expect to spend too much. They’re pretty famous for their smoothies(I haven’t tried since I make my own at home ;)). They offer wi-fi(you’ll have to ask for the PW) and it’s a great place to study. The actual décor is not that«exciting.» You’ll get the feeling that you’re in someone’s home and they are serving you in their living room while they cook in the kitchen. You’ll find typical snacks like chips, cookies, candy, and a freezer with ice cream if you’re in a rush. Their menu is on a dry-erase board and you’ll find multiple signs posted for various reasons($ 5.00 minimum, please lock the bathroom door, etc.). You’ll see that they’re very busy in the back serving everyone. There’s a lot of seating and it’s hard to get help if you need something(the workers are very preoccupied at times and service can be slow if they are). I do suggest ordering ahead of time over the phone if you are on a time crunch. All this being true, I would not be surprised if this would push away«new» patrons from wanting to come here. Why 4-stars? Well. I believe with everything that they do, you get what you pay for. This place is NOT expensive but the food is more than decent. I really do enjoy my meals and drinks! As for the customer service, I see this family work day in day out EVERYDAY and they are doing they’re absolute best trying to make it here. They are the sweetest people always smiling and multitasking. Sometimes it worries me that they may be doing more than they can handle. I’ll see them write orders down on a small scratch pad and manually input the prices that they have memorized from the menu board. I give them the benefit of the doubt. The place isn’t typically crowded unless the Malonga Center is having practice. I do enjoy studying here and I absolutely can’t complain that I get my «quiet» time in a friendly café. I see it as a good and bad thing that this place isn’t overrun(it’s like a secret gem). If you need or want to «slow down» from life’s hectic routine, this is a great place to go unwind and de-stress in a cute café that won’t be overcrowded and loud. Like I said, great for locals! Not so much for new, potentials(you wouldn’t see someone drive out of their way to get here). You’ll find me here on the weekends ;) BTW: Their vietnamese iced coffee. CRACK. WIREDFORHOURS. Love it!

I was feeling a little lethargic from running around San Francisco and Oakland. I asked my friend if he had any suggestions on good coffee to wake my brain up. He suggested i get the Vietnamese Ice Coffee here. The coffee was like crack(although i never tried crack before). Woke me up and got my engine going again. The ambiance was nice and the workers were great. WOuld totally come back here again if i were in the neighborhood.

On the pricey side for some items, but definitely fresh. I had the egg cheese and tomato bagel and the avocado sandwich. Both were fresh and neatly made. None of that mcdonald’s mushy lookin’ crap. Steady stream of customers on a Sunday morning. The two employees seemed a little tense and weren’t the most cordial, but they know how to get stuff done!

4.5 stars for great healthy, vegetarian(if you want) food at decent prices. This is the place to go for healthy food with a Vietnamese twist, as they have a wide selection of juices, smoothies, salads, and of course sandwiches with a lot of vegetarian options. It’s not completely authentic Vietnamese food — the sandwiches and salads have some non-traditional ingredients, but it’s tasty! I would peg this place as a fusion juice bar and Vietnamese deli. Do not go if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese; Cam Huong is much better for sandwiches(at a lower price too) I’ve had the tofu sandwich(tasty!) and tofu/shrimp summer rolls(favorite! light!) as well as their Vietnamese iced coffee(strong, not very sweet; as it should be). I haven’t tried their juice or salads but a friend raved about them. Fair warning; if you’re planning on takeout, service is a little slow here, and there is a price markup on their food compared to Cam Huong nearby.($ 5 instead of $ 3 for banh mi) If you’re not in a hurry there’s always seating here and it’s pretty quiet.
