I got the Korean bbq beef sandwich, it was very good. Wish I’d gotten the Bi Bim Bap or The Bulgogi Burrito, both look great.

Stopped here based on other reviews commenting on good food and friendly service. I had the Korean BBQ chicken sandwich and it was excellent and very reasonably priced. The place is clean with big windows looking out on 17th and Franklin Streets. I was mildly disappointed in that I did not find the staff particularly friendly, not sure if they were the owners, but I think they were. Not rude at all, but just kind of cold. I was the only customer when I arrived, so they were not busy or distracted with other customers. Regardless, I consider a friendliness a bonus, so it may have got them a fifth star. As it is, I would recommend it and would not hesitate to come back here for the good food and good uptown location.

I guess my favorite gallery piece was the triple sunflower painting facing the counter area. Or was it the Wreckx-n-Effect jam they had playing? Definite OG East Bay #momnpop shop = I was #nottrippin about my Korean burrito having lots of rice but not much flavor aside from its inherent spiciness… let the SF burritos wurrr about those things — we’re chillaxed on this side of the Yay.

I usually come here for soda(shhh, don’t tell anyone I’m drinking unhealthy things), and the service here has always been SUPER sweet. From reading other reviews, it’s apparently owned by a nice Korean family! :) I dropped in on a Friday for lunch to grab the daily special(my first time ordering food from this location), and walked away with a box of teriyaki chicken and rice, plus a bowl of miso soup, and a bottle of Coke for about $ 12(with tip, $ 14). For my first meal from here, it tasted okaaaaay. I’ll probably ask for more sauce the next time I come in, as I found it a little bland. I would have given this place 3 stars for the food, but they earned an extra star for the ultra sweet service! I’ll definitely come back and try the other meal options so I can form a more well-rounded opinion.

Based on a one-time lunch visit. i had the bibim bap with chicken and miso soup. i have to say– it was very well flavored and was the right portion size(though a little on the bigger side) but overall, delicious! Very friendly customer service. Will go back again if i have a chance.

This little gem is close to my job, so I frequent it often for lunch. I just LOVE anything with Korean bbq in it — the sandwiches, burrito, plates — it’s all good. The service is fast and friendly and they have stamp cards. Check out this spot!

A large diner that otherwise serves American food, but is run by a super-sweet Korean family and therefore serves bibimbap and bulgogi as well. The Korean offerings were what I came here to try, and they didn’t disappoint. Perfectly good, well-seasoned comfort food, all at a decent portion size and price. And did I mention the folks here were incredibly sweet? Haven’t felt a more genuine welcome in a long time — it’s almost as if you’re visiting friends or family. If I worked in downtown Oakland, I think I’d come here quite often for lunch.

Very rude. Ask the person what comes in breakfast burrito. He directed me to a sign YELLING #5 I asked what type of meat comes in burrito he yelled #5. This menu says 2 eggs, bell pepper, tomato and just says meat WHATKINDOFMEAT? So after looking up his other items on menu say the different types of meat available. I tried to explain this to him he looked uninterested and started talking over me counting out my change and then told me to shush… Extremely rude… Will not be going back

I was craving some Korean food and didn’t want to get in the car. So walked a few blocks and got the kimchee bulgogi sandwich. Soft bun, good bulgogi and spicy kimchee, but it wasn’t enough for $ 8. Plus a drink and some chips +tip… Kinda pricey for this area of Oakland. Artsy and spacious interior could make it a good place for a large group. Ahjussi at counter, owner?, was super nice and will come back once in a while to support a family business.

Great bi bim bap bowls… they even have a vegetarian one(rare!) and other sandwich and Asian fusion selections. The owners seem really nice and keep the place super clean which is a big plus. If you’re looking for a good, casual place to grub in downtown Oakland, Henry’s definitely satisfies!

Came by for breakfast that we took to the lake and enjoyed. Yummy breakfast options cooked fresh to order. Reasonable prices and the owner was very nice. They also have fresh donuts on site. It does take a bit of time if there are people there as there was only one person to take orders and cook. They also have Korean sandwiches which we would love to come back and try.

Great Kimchi Pastrami Melt. Tell them you want it on rye and it’s like a Korean style Rueben but not as heavy as you would expect! They are a sweet Korean mom and pop lunch joint. If you don’t want to wait in line behind all the hipsters down the block at all the other trendy spots, come to Henry’s and be pleasantly surprised.

I am trying really hard for 3.5 Stars. For an Asian spot located downtown Oakland. I find their prices a bit too pricy. I decided on the Korean Burrito. It was close to $ 10 for an average size burrito. I try my best to give mom-n-pop spots good reviews. The KB is pretty good. If you like good chunks of beef slices, real kim-chi, and spicy food. You will love it! I just don’t know about getting it often. great if you are craving something spicy!

This place is pretty average. It seems like it’s a family business which is nice but there are some things that are inappropriate even it is a family business. For example, as the owner, please don’t watch your computer at extremely high volumes while I’m trying to enjoy my meal. That is insanely distracting, annoying and pretty rude. The fact that it was one of the people behind the counter(and she was sitting right behind us) is just the icing on the poo cake. BESIDETHAT my bf got the bulgogi burrito which was tasty and huge! For the price, tou worth it. He loved it. I got a bagel with avocado and cream cheese which is really nothing at all. It was only like 2.5 so no big deal there. It was whatever. I probably could have made it better at home so I wouldn’t go out of my way but it was something small so I went with it. Next time I’d love to try the side salad since I hear good things!

Came here for the chicken bibimbap for lunch. It included a cup of miso soup that I found a bit bland, but not bad. I did wish there was a tad more meat in the bibimbap and that the egg wasn’t entirely cooked through, but not a bad option for lunch in the area. Portion was decent. Service was quick and friendly!

Ordered the Beef Bulgogi sandwich, without the Kimchi($ 7.58 with Tax) The sandwich had a good flavor. I love the Bulgogi, it was tender and juicy. I had it on a sweet roll with everything(except the kimchi). What was strange was there was 3rd toothpick sticking out side ways in my sandwich… luckily I saw it before diving in. The price for this sandwich, is a bit more than I would have paid. ******** This is an email I received from Henry’s Gallery Café, explaining the 3rd Toothpick Hi, this is Henry’s Gallery Café. Between Wooyoung J. and Jerry W. ” Prev | Next Page Bottom Wooyoung J. Block User 3 days ago Hi, this is Henry’s Gallery Café. It was nice to see your comment about our food. The third toothpick you found was to hold the wrapper. We do it all the time for to go customers. It is probably you took out the wrapper without pulling it. So, could you able to fix your comment about it? Thank you for visiting our sandwich shop and commenting about it Hope you see you again.

Donuts 40% off after 1pm! Came here to get out of the office for lunch. I’ve passed it a few times on my way to the Lunch Box(a go to for me) and decided to change it up and actually go in. The couple behind the counter are very nice and cheerful people. I ordered the Orchard sandwich: chicken, Monterey jack cheese, assorted greens, basil pesto, fresh apple slices and garlic aioli. I declined the basil pesto. The sandwich was SOGOOD! Chicken was hot, apples were cool, greens were crisp and fresh. The place was clean and lacks the varnish of a larger restaurant. People seem to rave about their BiBim Bap, so I might get that next time… because there WILL be a next time! Altogether my meal was just over $ 12: sandwich, bag of chips, sobe, and a giant apple fritter for later.

Joined Hubs for lunch in his neck of the woods. He chose the place and the dish. All I did was show up with an empty stomach and not having any idea what I was going to encounter. Upon walking in it isn’t much to look at. Just a basic mom n’ pop kind of vibe. We were greeted with smiles from friendly employees(possibly owners?). It’s not a table service restaurant. Order and pay at the register, wait for your food to be prepared, load up the tray and find a place to eat. Hubs ordered us Bi Bim Bap($ 8.60 each). Choose from ground beef or grilled chicken. I had no idea what the heck it was. The picture is posted on the windows and at the register. It was a bowl with assorted shredded veggies, seaweed salad, rice, noodles topped with an over hard egg. The lunch special came with miso soup. After mixing the ingredients, breaking up the egg and adding hot sauce it was time to dive in. It was very good. The crunchiness from the veggies, the flavor of the chicken and the warm rice came together nicely. The bowl looks small but is pretty filling. The miso soup was too salty to eat after a few spoon fulls. The place serves breakfast items, deli options like sandwiches and salads, burritos, wraps and teriyaki dishes. Prices are average. We came in before the lunch rush. Service was fast, plenty of seating and a few patrons were dining in and ordering for take out. While walking out the employees thanked us and said good bye. They made us feel welcomed and that our business was appreciated.
