The food is great. I love that I can order ahead of time and go pick it up. No wait no hassle. It’s great!

I honestly want to thank Homeroom for providing this business traveler comfort food ATITSBEST. I had traditional Mac made Trailer style — with hot dogs and potato chips. Don’t judge me, its on their menu because people did this to their mac n cheese as a kid! On a night where I was sick, weary from travel, and missing all things that typically comfort me, Homeroom hit the spot and made me feel better. I am here for the next two weeks, you WILL see me again!

It’s been a dream to eat at homeroom. But when the wait was too long at the restaurant, the next best thing was to order to go. The wait was much shorter and the food came out pretty fast. I ordered the Jalapeño popper and it was a party in my mouth. So creamy and rich! I love the hint of spicy in it too. I’m gonna make it a goal to try all the flavors. The hype is real and I’m addicted now!

This place is very well known and it’s all b/c of their multiple variations of Mac and cheese. I’ve been to this place before and I’ll come here once in a while since it’s down the street from my school. This is the to-go location. Just a few steps down the street is the dine in restaurant. They had to open a second spot b/c the wait was always so long and the restaurant’s fairly small. This place’s Mac and cheese is no joke. They have so many different variations from garlic to chorizo to hot dog to gouda, etc. Not only do they have these flavors, but they also have add ins. This includes bread crumbs, potato chips, bacon, etc. This pretty much makes customizable Mac and cheese. I will say though that it can be pricey. I’ve spent up to $ 18 on just an order of Mac and cheese. I order and more expensive flavor and got multiple add ins just to customize it. Everything adds up since you pay for each add in. Even though it does cost a lot it is worth it. I never finish my order. Usually I can only eat half and have the rest for left overs. Overall, great place. I don’t eat here often but it is a good place to come to once in a while when you’re craving comfort food. The staff is also great here. I one time had a server make a drawing for me on my to-go box lol

Huge portions, great flavor, quick pickup time?! What more could you want? Great mac n cheese with plenty of options. I placed an order online and it was ready to pick-up in 15 minutes.

This is a fantastic business model. Homeroom is a booming restaurant, so the fact that they made an entirely new location for takeout only was brilliant. The app is easy peasy, the designated parking spot to pull up makes picking up dinner such a breeze. We will always come back to Homeroom when in the Bay. By far one of the best spots to grab a bite!

So happy that Homeroom To Go opened up! I tried to go to Homeroom for a late lunch with my sister since we were around the area, but we saw the line outside of the restaurant and decided it was not worth the wait. We drove down a couple of blocks and I noticed the sign Homeroom To Go. Could it be!!! The answer to my prayers. I quickly parked at the green spot right outside and proceeded to go into the restaurant. The place is really tiny but they don’t need much since the whole purpose is takeout. I ordered the Gilroy Mac and added broccoli to it. The whole process took less than 20 minutes. That was some real quick mac + cheese! The verdict? WOW, so simple yet so good. Even my sister who usually would not order mac + cheese at a restaurant was impressed and ate half of it. I would say one serving is enough for two people because it is so heavy. I can’t wait to try the other flavors when I’m back in the bay next time.

BESTMACANDCHEESE I have ever ate. I recommend the jalapeño popper Mac and cheese with chicken and bacon. The prices are adorable and the portions are satisfying. Got full after eating 1⁄3 of it and took the rest home for tomorrow’s lunch. Great service and great Mac. Wish this place was bigger. The wait was 1hr but worth it.

I love going to Homeroom so on our way back from a long trip we thought how awesome would it be if we pick up homeroom for to go and have a little candle dinner at home. :P One of the orders got messed up and Corey was so helpful and refunded us and put in a new order pretty fast. I was very thankful for him being so kind and on top of that he offered us a dessert on the house. I was amazed of the customer service and the way he handled the situation. Thank you homeroom for always making our bellies happy :) AND the wine is pretty good to for pick up! DEF recommend the try

Homeroom is now expected to make an appearance at our Thanksgiving every year. That must mean they’re doing something right! The addition of the To Go store makes it that much easier to pick up huge platters of expensive(but very worth it) mac every year. They bring it out to your car and everything. Usually if you reserve early for Thanksgiving, they throw in a free tote bag. We always get the Gilroy with breadcrumbs and it usually lasts for days after. Here’s my mother’s one pro cooking tip for any type of mac: try adding cream cheese for a whole new world of wonder. You’re welcome.

Super friendly service — and wonderful food!!! My favorite order is the gouda mac and cheese with bacon and breadcrumbs. I am lactose intolerant and I look forward to trying their vegan mac and cheese!

Ever had one of those weeks that seem to drag and work piles and piles up? Finally when it is Friday, all you want to do is have take out and have a night in with friends. Well, Homeroom is the perfect companion for those weeks and is the definition of comfort food. Ordered the following: Chicken Pot Pie, Buffalo(the homemade ranch is bomb!!!), and Gilroy(w/bacon). Each were wonderful in their own ways and the first bite alone was amazing. oozy, cheesy goodness. I recommend getting the crisp breadcrumbs on all! The only downside is how pricey this place can get with customization and also they left out the chicken in the pot pie… sad face =( Nevertheless, I will still recommend this place. This place hits the spot and will leave you 10 pounds heavier… but that’s okay haha.

#137 OMG I am SOFULL!!! I do not want to complain about how full my stomach is(first world problems) but the food is filling and delicious from Homeroom. We were hungry, it was getting late, I am sick and refuse to cook – Yep, Homeroom! We ordered to go and it was a 100% success. We ordered: Mac the Goat(with crispy breadcrumbs) Gilroy Garlic Mac(with crispy bread crumbs) Chicken Pot Pie Mac with Broccoli(and of courses crispy bread crumbs) One Biscuit with Honey Butter Creamy Peanut Butter Pie Grasshopper Pie All of this plus tip and tax: $ 65.00 – WOW!!! The Chicken Pot Pie was absolutely divine. Rich, thick chicken alongside peas, broccoli, cheese, etc. I thought I might explode; however, it was so delicious I ate a bit more than I should have – my trainer can fix it tomorrow ;) My friend was in love with the Goat Mac. He actually ate the entire dish – fatty! Our house guest had the Gilroy Garlic and said he never had anything quite so wonderful. He also smashed his portion. I may have been the only one able to control my appetite – but I have to give a little credit to that crazy, fluffy biscuit. YUMMY! We put our dessert to the side for later. We will finish the Warriors game and then meander through our blissful extra calories. Stephani Smiles for Homeroom ;)

Their portions are HUGE! I went in looked at the menu, chit-chatted with the lady cashier for a little bit about whats good before placing my order. She said the Gilroy garlic is one of the most popular, but we both felt the same way about too much garlic. I mean, I want to taste the garlic, not kill vampires from 20 feet away. So I went with the Vermont white cheddar, add mushrooms and bread crumbs because who doesn’t want more carbs on their carbs? Am I right? Brought my order home to eat while studying, gosh that container is heavy. The girl said its enough to feed 2, but it took me 5 separate meals to finish my one order of mac&cheese. It was very cheesy, very heavy, very filling. I liked it more as reheated leftovers, because it made the cheese have that chewy texture with the pasta. I don’t like mushy. Maybe over winter break when finals comes around again, it’s cold, and I’m stressed out to the max… I’ll go back for more as comfort food, but find like 2 – 3 more people to share it with cause my waistline can not handle that much mac&cheese in one year.

Oh how I wish there was a Homeroom in the city or better yet in Los Angeles. The cheesy goodness is too good to just stay in Oakland. My boyfriend and I didn’t want to wait and eat at the restaurant, so we decided to grab some Homeroom to-go and head home. I found that I can just order my favorite mac and cheese online and pick it up curbside without even getting out of my car. I, of course, had to order my favorite mac: Gilroy Mac. We also ordered the Smoky Bacon Mac. It took us about 20min to get to Homeroom To Go, which is just the same time our mac and cheese would be ready. When we arrived, there were 2 other cars waiting for their orders so I just decided to go in. I walked in, gave my name, and was given my order. The process was so fast and easy I definitely wouldn’t mind just ordering from Homeroom online again. However, I have to say that Homeroom is much better when it just comes out of the oven freshly baked at the restaurant. Nevertheless, after a 20−30min car ride, it’s still very delicious.

Update: The manager/owner contacted me directly, sent me a gift card, and included a menu with recommendations on other dishes to try. I haven’t been able to return yet but that attentiveness and customer service earned another 2 stars for this establishment.

First of all, there is now an iPhone app you can download(which I did) to place your Homeroom order without so much as a phone call or having to wait for a table at the actual restaurant. This is a whole new level of fatassery. Second of all — can you say awesome, that this place exists? Don’t get me wrong, I’m always down to wait a little bit for great food… except when I’m starving. Husband and I were picking up a rental car nearby and neither of us felt like cooking so we made the executive decision to order takeout somewhere to enjoy at home in our sweats with some wine and Netflix(fuck, I’m so 34). Luckily for both of us, he remembered Homeroom had a to-go storefront. I called the number and got a recording which told me I could order online or via app. I figured my overused Chipotle app could use some company(don’t judge me) so after downloading the app I placed our order. It was ready in about 15 – 20 minutes and in another 20 we were home enjoying the same delicious mac and cheese(Jalapeño Popper for me, Buffalo Chicken for the husband, and the Roasted Brussels Sprouts w/Bacon because c’mon, we needed at least one vegetable in there) in the comfort of our own living room. And for the lucky people who live in Oakland, I think they actually DELIVERTHISSHIT. DOIT.(unless you’re lactose intolerant)… JUSTDOIT.

We ordered online and it was slightly difficult to navigate, but I didn’t mind it. we ordered a gilroy garlic with bread crumbs and headed towards the shop, by the time we got there, the food was ready to pick up and go. The lady was nice and store was adorable with all of their decorations. The gilroy garlic was really good, just wish it had more garlic flavor. I really like the bread crumbs on top. One order is pretty big so of course there were leftovers! I would come back in the future

I guess my big takeaway from Homeroom is: what’s the big deal? I was expecting to be wowed by this specialty Mac N Cheese joint, what with its 2000 reviews and 4-star rating, but NAH. I rolled into the sit-down location on Sunday morning and was rudely slapped in the face by the eternal wait time, so I made my way down the block to the convenient To Go storefront. The space is charming and alarmingly hipster, but who’s surprised– I mean, it’s novelty mac n cheese. There’s a lovely display of wines and other jarred artisanal thingies on weathered wood. pretty cute, but it’s been done. The menu mainly consists of gourmet mac n cheeses priced at around $ 11. Ok, $ 11 in itself is asking a lot for some noodles in cheese, but then consider that Homeroom charges up to $ 6 for additional add-ins. Granted, the $ 6.5 add-in is crab, but adding some shredded cheddar cheese will cost you $ 2… are you kidding me with this? Am I being Punk’d??? Whatever. I ordered the Gilroy Garlic because with the word garlic explicitly in the name, this mac n cheese must pack a lot of garlicky flavor, right? Like… that would make sense, right? Oh, but if only. I took one bite and was immediately confused. I couldn’t detect any hint of garlic at all, let alone the garlic flavor bomb I was anticipating. Once I got past this initial shock from such false advertising, I was left to face a truly average bowl of mac and cheese that I will never remember. If i could speak on its merits, I guess it’s that the bowl was served hot and the breadcrumbs were solid(added charge, of course). To end on a positive note, I will say that I really liked Homeroom’s homemade whoopie pies, which they advertise as Oreos. The chocolate cookies were firm but chewy and the frosting inside was airy– delicious. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me into paying $ 17 for mediocre mac and cheese and a cookie, also shame on you… It didn’t even reheat well. This is one bandwagon I’m happily staying off of.

I actually came across Homeroom To-Go after dining at the main restaurant. I placed an order to-go for my wife and the server was kind enough to place our order for pickup at the new To-Go location around the corner. How convenient! This corner spot looks like a Starbucks with shelving inside for merchandise for sale. The chilled case had drinks and pre-packed salads for quick grab & go’s. By the time I walked up to the counter, the order was being bagged with utensils and napkins. It took less than a minute before I walked out. The staff was really friendly and asked me how my lunch was at the main restaurant. If you’re looking to beat the crowds and need a quick mac & cheese fix, this is the spot!
