Love it here!!! Cheap, fast and my eyebrow look great … I am supper happy with Shanti

I’ve had a couple of positive sessions with Kalpana, who does a great job, but my one star review is for Shanti. I’m on my way to work looking like Hitler because she utterly botched waxing my upper lip. (This following her getting wax in my hair and having to cut it out. I should have quit while I was ahead.) She didn’t get everything in the first round but instead of plucking the rest she immediately applied a second layer of wax on my already tender skin. Then she had the gall to tell me it wasn’t raw, even though I can clearly see where she RIPPED OFF THE TOP LAYER OF MY SKIN. «It’ll go away in a few minutes.» I’ve been getting waxed since I was a teenager and I’ve never been left with raw patches on my face. I could cry but my poor face is already raw enough. She hesitated to give me her manager’s contact info, and worse, I paid with a card and she wasn’t able to give me a refund so now I’m probably going to get the runaround on that. I wish I could leave negative stars, this was a horrible experience and I look and feel terrible now.

I live in Oakland and I always go to the city or Hayward to get my eyebrows done. So I really wanted them done today but didn’t feel like going far and looked up a place on Unilocal and here I am!!! I like the area, it’s clean and the price is good. I would recommend this place. I feel good and my eyebrows are good as well.

I am utterly baffled by the positive reviews of this place. The only thing I can think is that I must have had the B team help me today. Probably actually the C team.
Pros: Convenient location. Fast service.
Cons: The threading! Absolutely terrible quality. And for a higher cost than elsewhere. Inconceivable!
I walked in around 2 and was the only person in the place so got helped immediately. It went downhill from there. I always get full face threading. When I get it done elsewhere, it takes at least 25 minutes to get all the hair off my face. The woman who helped me today did it in under 10 minutes. And it showed. There was literally still hair all over my face, including several very obvious areas. I asked her to go over several spots again. She did a cursory run back over them and called it a day. No aloe application. Seemingly zero pride in doing a good job.
I recognize I probably had an «off» experience here as everyone else seems to think this place is fantastic, but I am pretty disappointed that I paid $ 30 ($ 5 more than I usually pay) for a threading job that was really inadequate. I’ll have to go back next weekend to a reputable place to get my threading done. Frustrating!

I love this shop I go here every weekend to do my clean up, Kalpana is really nice and sweet to all her clients, I really recommend this shop ooh and I love the massage she gives with aloe vera!

Kalpena is the best at doing eyebrows! I get out at 5 from work in Berkeley and I rush it to Oakland and get there right before they close due to traffic. She is definitely a great eyebrow threader and highly recommend her.

This place is lucky to have Kalpana. I used to go to her when she was in city but since I moved to east bay it was hard for me to find a place that I could trust. I was lucky to find her again in east bay. She is awesome and the only one I could trust with my eyebrows and Brazilian waxing. She knows my skin very well and is very careful when she does my waxing. And for my eyebrows, I am very picky about it. Kalpana does it exactly the way I want it to be. I would recommend her to my girlfriends too.

After we completed the threading, I was given a mirror and she didn’t even bother to wipe my face! I had hair going into my eyes and mouth. She didn’t offer any Aloe Vera after or any cleansing solution. I asked for some, so she put some Aloe Vera in a Kleenex and I rubbed it in myself.
Eyes brows done well, but I have gone to many salons and have never felt so neglected. I doubt this is the owner, but please pass on because the location is great!

Kalpana is sweet, and gave a nice aloe rub after threading. Eyebrows are only $ 7 for threading right now!
